NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 David then addressed the whole assembly, 'Solomon my son, whom Yahweh has specifical y chosen,is young and immature, and the work is great; this palace is not for any human being but for Yahweh God.	1 El rey David dijo a toda la asamblea: «Mi hijo Salomón, el único elegido por Dios, es todavía joven e inexperto, mientras que la obra es grande, porque este palacio no es para los hombres, sino para Dios.
2 With al the resources I can command, for the house of my God I have provided gold for what must bemade of gold, silver for what must be made of silver, bronze for what must be made of bronze, iron for what mustbe made of iron, wood for what must be made of wood, as well as cornelian for inlay work, slabs of multi-coloured mosaic, every kind of precious stone and quantities of alabaster.	2 Por eso, con todas mis fuerzas he preparado para la Casa de mi Dios, oro para los objetos de oro, plata para los de plata, bronce para los de bronce, hierro para los de hierro, madera para los de madera; y también, piedras de ónix y de engaste, piedras brillantes y de varios colores, piedras preciosas de toda clase y alabastro en abundancia.
3 Furthermore, because my affections are set on the house of my God, I have also given what gold andsilver I personal y own for the house of my God, over and above everything which I have already provided for theholy Temple-	3 Más aún, lo que yo poseo personalmente en oro y plata, lo entrego por amor a la Casa de mi Dios, además de todo lo que he preparado para el Templo santo:
4 that is to say, three thousand talents of gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver foroverlaying the walls of the buildings,	4 tres mil talentos de oro, en oro de Ofir, y siete mil talentos de plata finísima para recubrir las paredes de los edificios
5 the gold being for what must be made of gold, and the silver for what must be made of silver: and forwhatever the craftsmen must make. Who, then, is wil ing to devote himself to Yahweh's service today?'	5 y para hacer los objetos de oro y plata y todas las obras de orfebrería. ¿Quién de ustedes esta dispuesto a ofrecer sus dones al Señor con la misma generosidad?».
6 At this, the heads of families, the tribal chiefs of Israel, the commanders of the thousands and thehundreds and those who managed the king's affairs,	6 Entonces los jefes de familia, los jefes de las tribus de Israel, los jefes de mil y de cien hombres, y los encargados de las obras del rey, entregaron espontáneamente sus ofrendas,
7 volunteered a gift of five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents ofsilver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze and a hundred thousand talents of iron,	7 y dieron para el servicio de la Casa de Dios cinco mil talentos de oro, diez mil dáricos, diez mil talentos de plata, dieciocho mil talentos de bronce y cien mil talentos de hierro.
8 while those who owned precious stones presented them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh in thecustody of Jehiel the Gershonite.	8 Los que tenían piedras preciosas, las entregaron en manos de Iejiel, el gersonita, para el tesoro de la Casa del Señor.
9 The people rejoiced at what these had given so readily, since they had presented their freewilofferings wholeheartedly to Yahweh. King David too was fil ed with joy.	9 El pueblo se alegró por estas ofrendas voluntarias, porque las habían presentado al Señor de todo corazón. Y también el rey David se llenó de alegría.
10 Hence, in the presence of the whole assembly David blessed Yahweh. David said: 'May you beblessed, Yahweh, God of Israel our ancestor, for ever and for ever!	10 Después David bendijo al Señor en presencia de toda la asamblea, diciendo: «¡Bendito seas, Señor, Dios de nuestro padre Israel, desde siempre y para siempre!
11 Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the splendour, length of days and glory, everything inheaven and on earth is yours. Yours is the sovereignty, Yahweh; you are exalted, supreme over al .	11 Tuya, Señor, es la grandeza, la fuerza, la gloria, el esplendor y la majestad; porque a ti pertenece todo lo que hay en el cielo y en la tierra. Tuyo, Señor, es el reino; tú te elevas por encima de todo.
12 Wealth and riches come from you, you are ruler of all, in your hand lie strength and power, and youbestow greatness and might on whomsoever you please.	12 De ti proceden la riqueza y la gloria; tú lo gobiernas todo, en tu mano están el poder y la fuerza, es tu mano la que engrandece y afianza todas las cosas.
13 So now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name,	13 Por eso, Dios nuestro, te damos gracias y alabamos tu Nombre glorioso.
14 for who am I and what is my people, for us to be able to volunteer offerings like this? - sinceeverything has come from you and we have given you only what you bestowed in the first place,	14 Porque ¿quién soy yo y quién es mi pueblo, para que podamos presentarte estas ofrendas voluntarias? En realidad, todo viene de ti y de tu mano procede lo que te damos.
15 and we are guests before you, and passing visitors as were al our ancestors, our days on earthfleeting as a shadow and without hope.	15 Nosotros somos extranjeros y peregrinos delante de ti, como lo fueron nuestros padres: nuestros días sobre la tierra pasan como una sombra, sin esperanza.
16 Yahweh our God, all this wealth, which we have provided to build a house for your holy name, hascome from you and all belongs to you.	16 Señor, Dios nuestro, todas estas riquezas que hemos preparado para edificar una Casa a tu santo Nombre, proceden de tu mano y todo es tuyo.
17 'Knowing, my God, how you examine our motives and how you delight in integrity, with integrity ofmotive I have wil ingly given all this and have been overjoyed to see your people, now present here, wil inglyoffering their gifts to you.	17 Yo sé, Dios mío, que tú sondeas el corazón y amas la rectitud: por eso, con rectitud de corazón, te he ofrecido espontáneamente todas estas cosas, y ahora veo con alegría que el pueblo aquí presente te ofrece sus dones generosamente.
18 Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel our ancestors, watch over this for ever, shape thepurpose of your people's heart and direct their hearts to you,	18 Señor, Dios de nuestros padres Abraham, Isaac e Israel, conserva para siempre estos mismos pensamientos en el corazón de tu pueblo y dirige su corazón hacia ti.
19 and give an undivided heart to Solomon my son to keep your commandments, your decrees andyour statutes, to put them all into effect and to build the palace for which I have made provision.'	19 Concede a mi hijo Salomón un corazón íntegro, para que observe y cumpla todos tus mandamientos, tus testimonios y tus leyes, y edifique el Templo que yo te he preparado».
20 David then addressed the whole assembly: 'Now bless Yahweh your God!' And the whole assemblyblessed Yahweh, God of their ancestors, bowing down in homage to Yahweh, and to the king.	20 Después David dijo a toda la asamblea: «¡Bendigan al Señor, su Dios!». Y toda la asamblea bendijo al Señor, el Dios de sus padres, y se postró delante del Señor y del rey.
21 On the day fol owing this, they slaughtered sacrifices and brought burnt offerings to Yahweh onbehalf of Israel -- a thousand bul s, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs with their libations, as wel as manyother sacrifices-	21 Al día siguiente ofrecieron sacrificios y holocaustos al Señor: mil novillos, mil carneros y mil corderos, con sus libaciones, y un gran número de sacrificios por todo Israel.
22 and they ate and drank that day in Yahweh's presence with great joy. They then made Solomon sonof David king a second time, anointing him as leader for Yahweh, and Zadok as priest.	22 Aquel día, comieron y bebieron con gran alegría en la presencia del Señor. Luego proclamaron como segundo rey a Salomón, hijo de David, y lo ungieron como príncipe del Señor. Sadoc fue ungido como sacerdote.
23 Solomon took his seat on Yahweh's throne, to reign in succession to David his father. He prospered,and all Israel obeyed him.	23 Salomón se sentó como rey en el trono del Señor, en lugar de su padre David. El prosperó y todo Israel le obedeció.
24 Al the chiefs, al the leading citizens and al King David's other sons pledged allegiance to KingSolomon.	24 Todos los jefes y guerreros, lo mismo que todos los hijos del rey David, juraron fidelidad al rey Salomón.
25 Yahweh made Solomon exceedingly powerful, as all Israel could see, and gave him a reign of suchsplendour as no previous king of Israel ever had.	25 El Señor engrandeció sobremanera a Salomón a los ojos de todo Israel, y le concedió un reinado glorioso como nunca había tenido ningún otro rey de Israel antes de él.
26 David son of Jesse was king of al Israel.	26 David, hijo de Jesé, había reinado sobre todo Israel.
27 He was king of Israel for a period of forty years; he reigned at Hebron for seven years, and inJerusalem for thirty-three.	27 Cuarenta años duró su reinado sobre Israel. Reinó siete años en Hebrón y treinta y tres en Jerusalén.
28 He died at a good old age, ful of days, riches and honour. Then his son Solomon succeeded him.	28 Murió después de una dichosa vejez, lleno de años, de riqueza y de gloria, y le sucedió su hijo Salomón.
29 The history of King David, from first to last, is al written down in the records of Samuel the seer, therecords of Nathan the prophet and the records of Gad the seer,	29 Los hechos del rey David, desde el primero hasta el último, están escritos en las Crónicas de Samuel, el vidente, en las de Natán, el profeta, y en las de Gad, el vidente,
30 with his entire reign, his mighty deeds and the times which he, Israel and al the kings of othercountries, had experienced.	30 con todo lo referente a su reinado y a sus hazañas, y a las vicisitudes que le sobrevinieron a él, a Israel y a todos los reinos de aquellas regiones.
