1 David then addressed the whole assembly, 'Solomon my son, whom Yahweh has specifical y chosen,is young and immature, and the work is great; this palace is not for any human being but for Yahweh God.	1 Le roi David dit à toute l’assemblée: “Mon fils Salomon, que Yahvé a choisi, est encore jeune et fragile, et la tâche est énorme, ce palais n’est pas pour un homme, mais pour Yahvé Dieu.
2 With al the resources I can command, for the house of my God I have provided gold for what must bemade of gold, silver for what must be made of silver, bronze for what must be made of bronze, iron for what mustbe made of iron, wood for what must be made of wood, as well as cornelian for inlay work, slabs of multi-coloured mosaic, every kind of precious stone and quantities of alabaster.	2 Courageusement, j’ai préparé ce qu’il fallait pour la Demeure de mon Dieu: l’or pour les objets d’or, l’argent pour les objets d’argent, le bronze pour les objets de bronze, le fer pour les objets de fer, le bois pour ce qui doit être fait en bois, et en outre de l’onyx, des pierres à sertir, des pierres de toutes couleurs, des pierres précieuses de toutes sortes, des quantités d’albâtre.
3 Furthermore, because my affections are set on the house of my God, I have also given what gold andsilver I personal y own for the house of my God, over and above everything which I have already provided for theholy Temple-	3 Je donne par amour pour la Demeure de Yahvé l’or et l’argent de mon propre trésor, en plus de ce que j’ai déjà fourni pour la Sainte Maison:
4 that is to say, three thousand talents of gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver foroverlaying the walls of the buildings,	4 3 000 pièces d’or, en or d’Ofir, et 7 000 pièces d’argent, en argent pur, pour revêtir les parois des salles.
5 the gold being for what must be made of gold, and the silver for what must be made of silver: and forwhatever the craftsmen must make. Who, then, is wil ing to devote himself to Yahweh's service today?'	5 Chacun de vous offrira-t-il aujourd’hui généreusement à Yahvé ce qu’il a d’or pour les objets d’or, d’argent pour les objets d’argent, mais aussi pour payer le travail des artisans?”
6 At this, the heads of families, the tribal chiefs of Israel, the commanders of the thousands and thehundreds and those who managed the king's affairs,	6 Les chefs de familles, les chefs des tribus d’Israël, les chefs de mille et les chefs de cent, et ceux qui géraient les affaires du roi,
7 volunteered a gift of five thousand talents and ten thousand darics of gold, ten thousand talents ofsilver, eighteen thousand talents of bronze and a hundred thousand talents of iron,	7 donnèrent pour le culte de la Maison de Dieu: 5 000 pièces d’or, 10 000 pièces perses, 10 000 pièces d’argent, 18 000 pièces de bronze et 100 000 pièces de fer.
8 while those who owned precious stones presented them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh in thecustody of Jehiel the Gershonite.	8 Ceux qui possédaient des pierres précieuses les apportèrent à Yéhiel le Guerchonite pour le trésor de la Maison de Yahvé.
9 The people rejoiced at what these had given so readily, since they had presented their freewilofferings wholeheartedly to Yahweh. King David too was fil ed with joy.	9 Le peuple se réjouit de voir ces offrandes spontanées, car c’est du fond du cœur qu’ils avaient fait ces offrandes à Yahvé. Le roi David en fut lui aussi rempli de joie.
10 Hence, in the presence of the whole assembly David blessed Yahweh. David said: 'May you beblessed, Yahweh, God of Israel our ancestor, for ever and for ever!	10 Devant toute l’assemblée David bénit Yahvé: “Sois béni, Yahvé, Dieu d’Israël, notre Père, depuis toujours et pour toujours!
11 Yours, Yahweh, is the greatness, the power, the splendour, length of days and glory, everything inheaven and on earth is yours. Yours is the sovereignty, Yahweh; you are exalted, supreme over al .	11 À toi Yahvé la grandeur, la puissance, la splendeur, l’éternité, la gloire, car tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre est à toi! Tu es notre souverain pour toujours ô Yahvé! Tu es celui qui règne sur toutes choses.
12 Wealth and riches come from you, you are ruler of all, in your hand lie strength and power, and youbestow greatness and might on whomsoever you please.	12 La richesse et l’honneur viennent de toi et tu gouvernes tout; dans ta main se trouvent force et puissance. Tu es celui qui donne à tous grandeur et force.
13 So now, our God, we give thanks to you and praise your majestic name,	13 Maintenant, notre Dieu, nous te rendons grâce, nous louons la splendeur de ton Nom.
14 for who am I and what is my people, for us to be able to volunteer offerings like this? - sinceeverything has come from you and we have given you only what you bestowed in the first place,	14 Qui suis-je et qui est mon peuple? N’est-ce pas toi qui nous permets aujourd’hui de te présenter ces offrandes? Tout vient de toi, et ce que nous t’avons donné, nous l’avons reçu de ta propre main.
15 and we are guests before you, and passing visitors as were al our ancestors, our days on earthfleeting as a shadow and without hope.	15 Nous sommes des étrangers devant toi, rien que des migrants, comme l’étaient nos ancêtres; nos jours sur terre passent comme une ombre et que nous reste-t-il comme espoir?
16 Yahweh our God, all this wealth, which we have provided to build a house for your holy name, hascome from you and all belongs to you.	16 Yahvé, notre Dieu, c’est de ta main que sort toute cette richesse que nous avons rassemblée pour construire une Maison à ton Saint Nom: tout est à toi.
17 'Knowing, my God, how you examine our motives and how you delight in integrity, with integrity ofmotive I have wil ingly given all this and have been overjoyed to see your people, now present here, wil inglyoffering their gifts to you.	17 Ô mon Dieu, je sais que tu sondes les cœurs et que tu aimes la droiture; c’est avec droiture que j’ai volontairement donné tout cela, et à présent j’ai vu avec joie ton peuple offrir ses dons spontanément.
18 Yahweh, God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel our ancestors, watch over this for ever, shape thepurpose of your people's heart and direct their hearts to you,	18 Ô Yahvé, Dieu de nos pères Abraham, Isaac et Jacob, garde à jamais ces dispositions dans le cœur et dans l’esprit de ton peuple: conduis-le vers toi.
19 and give an undivided heart to Solomon my son to keep your commandments, your decrees andyour statutes, to put them all into effect and to build the palace for which I have made provision.'	19 Donne à mon fils Salomon une fidélité sans faille pour observer tes commandements, tes décrets, tes prescriptions; puisse-t-il les mettre en pratique et construire ce palais que j’ai préparé.”
20 David then addressed the whole assembly: 'Now bless Yahweh your God!' And the whole assemblyblessed Yahweh, God of their ancestors, bowing down in homage to Yahweh, and to the king.	20 David dit alors à toute l’assemblée: “Maintenant bénissez Yahvé notre Dieu!” Et toute l’assemblée bénit Yahvé, le Dieu de ses pères; elle s’agenouilla et se prosterna devant Yahvé et devant le roi.
21 On the day fol owing this, they slaughtered sacrifices and brought burnt offerings to Yahweh onbehalf of Israel -- a thousand bul s, a thousand rams, a thousand lambs with their libations, as wel as manyother sacrifices-	21 Le jour suivant, on offrit des sacrifices et des holocaustes à Yahvé: 1 000 taureaux, 1 000 béliers et 1 000 agneaux avec leurs offrandes de vin, ainsi que de nombreux sacrifices pour tout Israël.
22 and they ate and drank that day in Yahweh's presence with great joy. They then made Solomon sonof David king a second time, anointing him as leader for Yahweh, and Zadok as priest.	22 Ce jour-là ils mangèrent et burent joyeusement en présence de Yahvé. Pour la seconde fois ils proclamèrent roi Salomon fils de David; ils lui donnèrent l’onction pour qu’il les gouverne au nom de Yahvé, et ils consacrèrent aussi Sadoq comme prêtre.
23 Solomon took his seat on Yahweh's throne, to reign in succession to David his father. He prospered,and all Israel obeyed him.	23 Salomon s’assit sur le trône de Yahvé et régna à la place de David, son père; il réussit bien et tout Israël lui obéissait.
24 Al the chiefs, al the leading citizens and al King David's other sons pledged allegiance to KingSolomon.	24 Tous les chefs, les guerriers d’élite et les fils du roi David étaient soumis au roi Salomon.
25 Yahweh made Solomon exceedingly powerful, as all Israel could see, and gave him a reign of suchsplendour as no previous king of Israel ever had.	25 Grâce à Yahvé, Salomon était très considéré par tout Israël et son règne fut plus glorieux que celui des rois d’Israël qui l’avaient précédé.
26 David son of Jesse was king of al Israel.	26 David, fils de Jessé, avait régné sur tout Israël.
27 He was king of Israel for a period of forty years; he reigned at Hebron for seven years, and inJerusalem for thirty-three.	27 La durée de son règne sur Israël avait été de 40 ans; il avait régné à Hébron pendant 7 ans et à Jérusalem pendant 33 ans.
28 He died at a good old age, ful of days, riches and honour. Then his son Solomon succeeded him.	28 Il mourut dans une heureuse vieillesse, comblé de jours, de richesses et d’honneurs; Salomon, son fils, lui succéda.
29 The history of King David, from first to last, is al written down in the records of Samuel the seer, therecords of Nathan the prophet and the records of Gad the seer,	29 Les actes du roi David, du premier jusqu’au dernier, sont écrits dans le Livre de Samuel le voyant, dans l’histoire de Nathan le prophète, dans l’histoire de Gad le voyant.
30 with his entire reign, his mighty deeds and the times which he, Israel and al the kings of othercountries, had experienced.	30 On y lit tout ce qui concerne son règne, sa bravoure et tout ce qui est arrivé, à lui, à Israël et à tous les royaumes étrangers.
