NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLES DES PEUPLES
1 After he had put up buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of Godand pitched a tent for it.	1 David construisit des édifices dans la Cité de David et il prépara une place pour l’Arche de Dieu: il dressa une tente pour elle.
2 David then said, 'No one but the Levites should carry the ark of God, since Yahweh has chosen themto carry the ark of Yahweh and to minister to him for ever.'	2 Puis il dit: “Seuls les lévites déplaceront l’Arche de Dieu puisque Yahvé les a choisis pour porter l’Arche et le servir à jamais!”
3 David then summoned al Israel to Jerusalem, to move the ark of Yahweh to the place which he hadprepared for it.	3 David rassembla alors les Israélites à Jérusalem pour transporter l’Arche de Dieu au lieu qu’il lui avait préparé.
4 David also cal ed the sons of Aaron and the Levites together:	4 David réunit les fils d’Aaron et les fils de Lévi:
5 of the sons of Kohath: Uriel the chief and his hundred and twenty kinsmen;	5 parmi les fils de Kahat: Ouriel, le chef, et ses 120 frères.
6 of the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief and his two hundred and twenty kinsmen;	6 Des fils de Mérari: Asaya et ses 220 frères.
7 of the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief and his hundred and thirty kinsmen;	7 Des fils de Guerchon: Yoël et ses 130 frères.
8 of the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief and his two hundred kinsmen;	8 Des fils de Élisafan: Chémayas et ses 200 frères.

11 David then sent for the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah,Eliel and Amminadab.	11 David appela les prêtres Sadoq et Ébyatar, et les lévites Ouriel, Asaya, Yoël, Chémayas, Éliel et Aminadab.
12 To them he said, 'You are the heads of the levitical families. Sanctify yourselves, you and yourkinsmen, so that you can move the ark of Yahweh, God of Israel, to the place which I have prepared for it.	12 Il leur dit: “Vous êtes les chefs de familles des lévites. Purifiez-vous, vous et vos frères, et apportez l’Arche de Yahvé Dieu d’Israël jusqu’à l’endroit que je lui ai préparé.
13 Because you were not there the first time, Yahweh our God broke out at us because we did nothandle it properly.'	13 La première fois vous n’étiez pas là pour la porter, et Yahvé notre Dieu nous a punis pour ne pas l’avoir consulté comme nous aurions dû le faire.”
14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves, to move the ark of Yahweh, God of Israel,	14 Ainsi les prêtres et les lévites se purifièrent pour emporter l’Arche de Yahvé Dieu d’Israël.
15 and the Levites carried the ark of God with the shafts on their shoulders, as Moses had ordered inaccordance with the word of Yahweh.	15 Les lévites portèrent l’Arche de Dieu avec des barres sur leurs épaules, comme Moïse l’avait ordonné selon la volonté de Yahvé.
16 David also told the heads of the Levites to appoint their kinsmen as singers with the accompanimentof musical instruments, lyres, harps, and cymbals to play joyful y.	16 Alors David dit aux lévites qui dirigeaient, de désigner quelques-uns d’entre eux pour chanter et jouer gaiement de leurs divers instruments de musique: harpes, lyres et cymbales.
17 The Levites then appointed Heman son of Joel, Asaph son of Berechiah, one of his brothers, Ethanson of Kushaiah, one of their Merarite kinsmen;	17 Les lévites désignèrent: Héman, fils de Yoël; Asaf, fils de Bérékya, un de ses frères; Étan, fils de Kouchayas, un de leurs frères Mérarites;
18 and with them their kinsmen of the second rank: Zechariah, Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab,Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, and Obed-Edom and Jehiel the gatekeepers.	18 et avec eux, leurs frères de second rang: les portiers: Zékaryas, Ouziel, Chémiramot, Yéhiel, Ouni, Éliab, Bénayas, Maaséyas, Mattityas, Éliflès, Miknéyas, Obed-Édom, Yéhiel.
19 The singers, Heman, Asaph and Ethan, were to play the bronze cymbals.	19 Les chantres Héman, Asaf, et Étan faisaient sonner les cymbales de bronze.
20 Zechariah, Uzziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Maaseiah and Benaiah were to play the lyre.	20 Zékaryas, Ouziel, Chémiramot, Yéhiel, Ouni, Éliab, Maaséyas et Bénayas jouaient de la harpe en sourdine.
21 Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-Edom, Jehiel and Azaziah, giving the beat, were to play theharp.	21 Mattityas, Éliflès, Miknéyas, Obed-Édom, Yeïel et Azazyas donnant le rythme, jouaient de la lyre à l’octave.
22 Chenaniah, the levitical director of transport was in charge of the transport, being skilful at it.	22 Kénanyas, chef du transport, dirigeait les lévites chargés du transport, car il s’y connaissait.
23 Berechiah and Elkanah were gatekeepers for the ark.	23 Bérékya et Elkana étaient portiers de l’Arche.
24 The priests Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah and Eliezer blew trumpetsbefore the ark of God, while Obed-Edom and Jehiah were also gatekeepers for the ark.	24 Les prêtres Chebanyas, Yochafat, Nétanéel, Amasaï, Zékaryas, Bénayas et Éliézer jouaient de la trompette devant l’Arche de Dieu. Obed-Édom et Yéhiyas étaient portiers de l’Arche.
25 David, the elders of Israel and the commanders of the thousands accordingly went, amid greatrejoicing, to bring the ark of the covenant of Yahweh up from Obed-Edom's house,	25 Ainsi, David avec les chefs d’Israël et les commandants de milliers partirent de la maison d’Obed-Édom avec des chants de joie: ils portaient l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé.
26 and since God was helping the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of Yahweh, theysacrificed seven bul s and seven rams.	26 Et tandis que Dieu veillait sur les lévites qui portaient l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé, on sacrifia sept taureaux et sept béliers.
27 David, al the Levites who carried the ark, the singers and Chenaniah, director of transport, worecloaks of fine linen. David also wore a linen ephod.	27 David, tous les lévites qui portaient l’Arche, les chantres et Kénanyas, responsable du transport, étaient vêtus de manteaux de lin fin. David portait aussi l’Éphod de lin.
28 Thus, with war-cries and the sounding of the horn, the trumpets and the cymbals, and the music oflyres and harps, al Israel transported the ark of the covenant of Yahweh.	28 Tout Israël accompagna l’Arche d’Alliance de Yahvé avec des cris de joie et des sonneries de cors, de trompettes et de cymbales, jouant de la musique sur les harpes et les lyres.
29 Now, as the ark of the covenant of Yahweh entered the City of David, Michal daughter of Saul waswatching from the window and, when she saw King David dancing and playing, the sight of him filled her withcontempt.	29 Comme l’Arche de l’Alliance de Yahvé entrait dans la cité de David, Mikal, la fille de Saül était à sa fenêtre et regardait. Elle vit le roi David qui dansait et sautait, et elle le méprisa.
