1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Eliseo, rivoltosi alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio, le disse: « Levati e vattene colla tua famiglia a stare dovunque troverai, perchè il Signore ha chiamata la fame, ed essa verrà sulla terra per sette anni ».
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 La donna si mosse, e, facendo secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andò colla sua famiglia a stare per molto tempo nella terra dei Filistei.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Finiti i sette anni, la donna tornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò dal re a reclamare la sua casa e le sue terre.

5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 Il re interrogò la donna, che ne fece il racconto. 8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 Allora il re disse ad Azael: « Presi teco dei regali, va a trovare l'uomo di Dio, consulta per mezzo di lui il Signore, e domandagli se potrò uscir da questa malattia ».
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Azael andò a trovarlo, e, presi seco dei regali e tutto ciò che c'era di buono a Damasco, ne caricò quaranta cammelli, andò a presentarsi a lui e gli disse: « Il tuo figlio Benadad re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per dirti: Potrò guarire da questa malattia? »
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Eliseo gli disse: « Va e digli: Tu guarirai. Ma il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che senza dubbio morrà ».
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Fermatosi con lui, l'uomo di Dio si conturbò fino a diventar tutto rosso in viso, e pianse.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 Azael gli disse: « Per qual motivo piange il mio signore? » Eliseo rispose: « Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele. Tu darai alle fiamme le loro città fortificate, ucciderai di spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro pargoletti e sventrerai le incinte ».
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Azael disse: « E chi sono io tuo servo, un cane, per fare questa gran cosa? » Eliseo a lui: « Il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere che tu sarai re della Siria ».
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 Azael, partitosi da Eliseo, tornò al suo signore, il quale gli disse: « Che ti ha detto Eliseo? » Azael rispose: « M'ha detto che ricupererai la salute ».
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 Ma il giorno dopo Azael, presa una coperta e inzuppatala d 'acqua, la distese sulla faccia del re, che morì. Così Azael regnò in suo luogo.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 L'anno quinto di Ioram figlio di Acab re d'Israele, essendo Giosafat re di Giuda, Ioram, figlio di Giosafat re di Giuda, regnò sopra Giuda.

26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem.
