NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Eliseo disse alla donna a cui aveva risuscitato il figlio: "Lèvati, vattene con la tua famiglia e soggiorna fuori dove ti sarà possibile, perché il Signore ha chiamato la fame che durerà nel paese per sette anni".
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 La donna si levò e fece secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio: partì lei e la sua famiglia e soggiornò nel paese dei Filistei per sette anni.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Trascorsi che furono i sette anni, la donna ritornò dal paese dei Filistei e si recò dal re a reclamare la sua casa e il suo campo.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 Il re stava parlando con Giezi, il servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: "Raccontami, ti prego, tutte le grandi cose che Eliseo ha fatto".
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 Mentre egli raccontava al re il modo come aveva risuscitato il morto, ecco che si presentò proprio la donna a cui il profeta aveva risuscitato il figlio per reclamare dal re la sua casa e il suo campo. Giezi allora disse: "O re, mio signore! Questa è la donna e questo è il suo figlio che Eliseo ha risuscitato!".
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 Il re interrogò la donna ed essa gli narrò il fatto. Allora il re l'affidò a un eunuco con quest'ordine: "Si restituisca tutto quello che le appartiene e tutte le rendite del campo dal momento in cui essa ha lasciato il paese fino ad ora".
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Eliseo si recò a Damasco. Ben-Adàd, re di Aram, era ammalato e gli fu annunciato: "L'uomo di Dio è venuto fin qui".
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 Il re disse a Cazaèl: "Prenditi un regalo, va' incontro all'uomo di Dio e, per mezzo suo, consulta il Signore così: "Guarirò da questa malattia?".
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Cazaèl gli andò incontro, dopo essersi preso come regalo ogni cosa più preziosa di Damasco: un carico di quaranta cammelli! Giunto da lui, gli si presentò e gli disse: "Tuo figlio Ben-Adàd, re di Aram, mi ha mandato da te per domandarti: "Guarirò da questa malattia?".
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Eliseo rispose: "Va' e digli: "Certamente guarirai!", però il Signore mi ha fatto vedere che certamente egli morirà".
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Poi immobilizzò il suo volto e irrigidì il suo sguardo per lungo tempo; alla fine l'uomo di Dio scoppiò in pianto.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 Allora Cazaèl domandò: "Perché piangi, mio signore?". Quegli rispose: "E' perché so tutto il male che farai ai figli d'Israele: brucerai le loro fortezze, ucciderai di spada i loro primogeniti, sfracellerai i loro lattanti, sventrerai le loro donne incinte".
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Cazaèl esclamò: "Che è mai il tuo servo? E' forse un cane perché possa fare una cosa così mostruosa?". Eliseo gli replicò: "Il Signore mi ha fatto vedere che tu sarai re di Aram".
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 Partito che fu da Eliseo, si recò dal suo signore che gli domandò: "Che cosa ti ha detto Eliseo?". Quegli rispose: "Mi ha detto che tu certamente guarirai".
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 Il giorno dopo egli prese una coperta, la immerse nell'acqua, gliela pose sul viso e quegli morì. Così Cazaèl regnò al posto suo.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 Il quinto anno di Ioram, figlio di Acab, re d'Israele, divenne re Ioram, figlio di Giosafat, re di Giuda.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Al suo avvento al trono egli aveva trentadue anni e regnò otto anni a Gerusalemme.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 Imitò la condotta dei re d'Israele, come aveva fatto la casa di Acab -- una figlia di Acab era infatti sua moglie --, e fece il male agli occhi del Signore.
19 But Yahweh was unwil ing to destroy Judah, because of his servant David, and was faithful to thepromise which he had made him to leave him a lamp for ever in his presence.	19 Tuttavia il Signore non volle distruggere Giuda a causa di Davide, suo servo, perché aveva promesso di dare a lui e ai suoi discendenti una lampada perenne.
20 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	20 Ai suoi tempi, Edom si liberò dal dominio di Giuda e si diede un re.
21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 Allora Ioram, con tutti i suoi carri, passò a Zeira. Levatosi di notte, con i comandanti dei carri batté gli Edomiti che lo avevano accerchiato; il popolo fuggì alle sue tende.
22 Even so, Edom threw off the domination of Judah, remaining free to the present day. Libnah alsorevolted at that time.	22 Così Edom si liberò dal dominio di Giuda fino ad oggi. Anche Libna si ribellò in quel tempo.
23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?	23 Le altre gesta di Ioram e tutte le sue azioni non sono forse descritte nel libro degli Annali dei re di Giuda?
24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 Ioram si addormentò con i suoi antenati e fu seppellito con essi nella città di Davide. Al suo posto regnò suo figlio Acazia.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 L'anno dodicesimo di Ioram, figlio di Acab, re d'Israele, incominciò a regnare Acazia, figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Al suo avvento al trono Acazia aveva ventidue anni e regnò un anno a Gerusalemme. Il nome di sua madre era Atalia, figlia di Omri, re d'Israele.
27 He followed the example of the House of Ahab and did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as the House ofAhab were doing, to whom he was related by marriage.	27 Egli seguì la condotta della casa di Acab e fece il male agli occhi del Signore, come la casa di Acab, poiché si era imparentato con la casa di Acab.
28 He went with Jehoram son of Ahab to make war on Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth in Gilead, but theAramaeans wounded Jehoram.	28 Assieme a Ioram, figlio di Acab, andò a combattere Cazaèl, re di Aram, a Ramot di Gàlaad, ma gli Aramei ferirono Ioram.
29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.	29 Allora il re Ioram ritornò a Izreèl per farsi curare le ferite che gli Aramei gli avevano inferte a Ramot, mentre combatteva Cazaèl, re di Aram. Acazia, figlio di Ioram, re di Giuda, discese a Izreèl a visitare Ioram, figlio di Acab, che era sofferente.
