NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA RICCIOTTI
1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 - Eliseo disse alla donna di cui aveva risuscitato il figlio: «Levati e va' tu e la tua famiglia e dimora ovunque troverai, poichè il Signore ha chiamata la fame che per sette anni desolerà il paese».
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 La donna si levò, e fece secondo la parola dell'uomo di Dio, andandosene con la sua famiglia ad abitare per molti anni nel paese dei Filistei.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Passati sette anni, la donna ritornò dal paese dei Filistei e andò a interpellare il re per riavere la sua casa e il suo campo.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 Il re stava parlando con Giezi, servo dell'uomo di Dio, e gli diceva: «Narrami tutte le cose grandi che Eliseo ha fatto».
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 E mentre egli raccontava al re come Eliseo avesse risuscitato un morto, si presentò la donna, di cui era stato risuscitato il figlio, la quale ricorreva al re per la sua casa e i suoi poderi. Giezi disse: «O re, mio signore, costei è la donna e questi è il suo figliuolo, che Eliseo ha risuscitato».
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 Il re interrogò la donna, la quale gli narrò l'accaduto; il re allora le diede un eunuco, a cui disse: «Restituisci a costei tutto ciò che le appartiene e tutti i redditi de' suoi poderi, dal giorno che abbandonò il paese fino al presente».
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Eliseo si portò anche a Damasco, mentre Benadad, re di Siria, era ammalato. A questi fu annunziato: «L'uomo di Dio è venuto qui».
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 Il re disse ad Azael: «Prenditi regali e va' incontro all'uomo di Dio e per suo mezzo consulta il Signore, domandandogli: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Andò dunque Azael incontro ad Eliseo, portando in regalo quanto di meglio vi era in Damasco: un carico di quaranta cammelli. Quando si fu presentato a lui, gli disse: «Il figliuolo tuo Benadad, re di Siria, mi ha mandato a te per chiederti: - Potrò io guarire da questa mia infermità? -».
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Eliseo gli rispose: «Va' a dirgli: - Tu guarirai. - Tuttavia il Signore mi ha rivelato che morrà certamente».
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Poi si fermò con lui e si turbò fino a diventar rosso nel volto. L'uomo di Dio pianse;
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 e Azael gli chiese: «Perchè il mio signore piange?», ed egli rispose: «Perchè so il male che tu farai ai figli d'Israele; brucerai le loro città fortificate, ucciderai colla spada i loro giovani, schiaccerai i loro bambini, e sventrerai le pregnanti».
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Disse Azael: «Che cosa sono io tuo servo, simile a un cane, per fare cose così grandi?». Eliseo rispose: «Il Signore mi rivela che tu sarai re della Siria».
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 Essendosi egli allontanato da Eliseo, ritornò al suo padrone, che gli chiese: «Cosa ti ha detto Eliseo?». Egli rispose: «Mi disse che tu recupererai la salute».
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 Venuto poi il giorno seguente prese una coperta, la inzuppò d'acqua e la stese sulla faccia del re. Morto Benadad, Azael regnò in sua vece.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 Nell'anno quinto di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele, e di Josafat, re di Giuda, Joram figlio di Josafat, re di Giuda, regnò.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Aveva trentadue anni quando incominciò a regnare e regnò in Gerusalemme otto anni.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 Camminò nelle vie dei re di Israele come aveva camminato la casa di Acab. Aveva in moglie la figlia di Acab e fece il male al cospetto del Signore.
19 But Yahweh was unwil ing to destroy Judah, because of his servant David, and was faithful to thepromise which he had made him to leave him a lamp for ever in his presence.	19 Il Signore però non volle distruggere Giuda per amor di Davide suo servo, secondo la promessa fattagli di dare sempre una lucerna a lui e ai suoi figli.
20 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	20 In quei giorni Edom si ribellò per non restare sotto Giuda e si elesse un re.
21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 Joram venne a Seira con tutti i suoi carri e, levatosi di notte, battè gli Idumei che lo avevano circondato e i comandanti dei carri, e il popolo fuggì nelle sue tende.
22 Even so, Edom threw off the domination of Judah, remaining free to the present day. Libnah alsorevolted at that time.	22 Edom adunque si ribellò per non essere sotto Giuda fino a questi giorni. Anche Lobna si sottrasse in quel tempo.
23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?	23 Il resto delle azioni di Joram e tutto quello che egli fece, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 Joram dormì co' suoi padri e fu con essi sepolto nella città di Davide e Ocozia, figlio di lui, regnò in sua vece.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 Ocozia figlio di Joram, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare l'anno decimosecondo di Joram figlio di Acab, re d'Israele.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Aveva ventidue anni quando salì al trono e regnò in Gerusalemme un anno. Il nome della madre sua fu Atalia, figlia di Amri, re d'Israele.
27 He followed the example of the House of Ahab and did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as the House ofAhab were doing, to whom he was related by marriage.	27 Camminò nelle vie della casa di Acab, e fece il male al cospetto del Signore, come la casa di Acab, poichè egli era imparentato con questa casa.
28 He went with Jehoram son of Ahab to make war on Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth in Gilead, but theAramaeans wounded Jehoram.	28 Andò con Joram figlio di Acab a combattere contro Azael, re di Siria, in Ramot di Galaad. E i Siri ferirono Joram.
29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.	29 Il re ritornò a Jezrael per farsi curare dalle ferite ricevute dai Siri in Ramot, mentre combatteva contro Azael, re della Siria. Ora Ocozia figliuolo di Joram, re di Giuda, venne a trovare Joram figlio di Acab in Jezrael, dove era ammalato.
