2 Kings 8

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Eliseo dijo a la madre del niño que él había hecho revivir: «Parte ahora mismo con toda tu familia, y emigra adonde puedas, porque el Señor ha llamado al hambre, y ya viene al país por siete años».
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 La mujer partió e hizo lo que le había dicho el hombre de Dios: emigró con su familia al país de los filisteos y se quedó allí siete años.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Al cabo de siete años, la mujer volvió del país de los filisteos y fue a reclamar al rey su casa y su campo.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 El rey estaba hablando con Guejazí, el servidor del hombre de Dios: «Cuéntame, le decía, las maravillas que ha hecho Eliseo».
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 Y mientras le estaba contando al rey cómo Eliseo había hecho revivir a un muerto, la madre del niño que él había hecho revivir vino a reclamar al rey su casa y su campo. Guejazí dijo entonces: «¡Rey, señor mío, esta es la mujer y aquí está el hijo que Eliseo hizo revivir!».
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 El rey interrogó a la mujer, y ella le contó todo. Luego puso a su disposición un eunuco, al que ordenó: «Que se le restituya todo lo que le pertenece, con todas las rentas del campo, desde el día en que dejó el país hasta ahora».
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Eliseo se dirigió a Damasco. Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, estaba enfermo. Cuando le avisaron: «El hombre de Dios ha venido hasta aquí»,
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 el rey dijo a Jazael: «Toma contigo un presente, ve al encuentro del hombre de Dios, y consulta al Señor por medio de él, a ver si me restableceré de esta enfermedad».
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Jazael fue al encuentro de Eliseo llevando como presente cuarenta camellos cargados con lo mejor que había en Damasco. Al llegar, se presentó ante él y le dijo: «Tu hijo Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, me ha enviado a preguntarte: ¿Me restableceré de esta enfermedad?».
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Eliseo respondió: «Ve a decirle: «Sí, te restablecerás»; pero el Señor me ha hecho ver que morirá».
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Después fijó la mirada y permaneció así largo rato. Y el hombre de Dios lloró.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 Jazael le preguntó: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?». «Porque sé el mal que harás a los israelitas, respondió Eliseo; tú incendiarás sus plazas fuertes, matarás a sus jóvenes con la espada, estrellarás a sus niños y abrirás el vientre de sus mujeres embarazadas».
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Jazael replicó: «Tu servidor no es más que un perro. ¿Cómo va a hacer tales hazañas?». Eliseo respondió: «El Señor me ha hecho ver que tú reinarás sobre Aram».
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 El se alejó de Eliseo y fue a ver a su señor, el cual le dijo: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?». El respondió: «Me ha dicho que te restablecerás».
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 Pero a la mañana siguiente tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y la extendió sobre el rostro del rey, hasta que murió. Jazael reinó en lugar de él.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 El quinto año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Tenía treinta y dos años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 Siguió el camino de los reyes de Israel, conforme a lo que había hecho la casa de Ajab, porque se había casado con una hija de Ajab; e hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor.
19 But Yahweh was unwil ing to destroy Judah, because of his servant David, and was faithful to thepromise which he had made him to leave him a lamp for ever in his presence.	19 Pero el Señor no quiso destruir a Judá, a causa de su servidor David, según la promesa que le había hecho de darles a él y a sus hijos una lámpara para siempre.
20 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	20 En ese tiempo, Edom se rebeló contra el poder de Judá y se estableció un rey.
21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 Joram partió entonces para Saír con todos sus carros de guerra. Por la noche, se levantó y derrotó a los edomitas, que lo tenían cercado a él y a los jefes de los carros; pero las tropas huyeron a la desbandada.
22 Even so, Edom threw off the domination of Judah, remaining free to the present day. Libnah alsorevolted at that time.	22 Así se independizó Edom del poder de Judá, hasta el día de hoy. En aquel tiempo, también se rebeló Libná.
23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?	23 El resto de los hechos de Joram y todo lo que él hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Judá?
24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 Joram se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la Ciudad de David. Su hijo Ocozías reinó en lugar de él.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 El duodécimo año de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, inició su reinado Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Ocozías tenía veintidós años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó un año en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Atalía, y era hija de Omrí, rey de Israel.
27 He followed the example of the House of Ahab and did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as the House ofAhab were doing, to whom he was related by marriage.	27 Siguió el camino de la casa de Ajab e hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, como la casa de Ajab, porque estaba emparentado con ella.
28 He went with Jehoram son of Ahab to make war on Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth in Gilead, but theAramaeans wounded Jehoram.	28 El fue con Joram, hijo de Ajab, a combatir contra Jazael, rey de Aram, a Ramot de Galaad; pero los arameos hirieron a Joram.
29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.	29 El rey Joram volvió a Izreel, para hacerse curar de las heridas que le habían infligido los arameos en Ramá, cuando combatía contra Jazael, rey de Aram. Entonces Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá, bajó a Izreel para visitar a Joram, hijo de Ajab, que estaba herido.
