2 Kings 8

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Eliseo dijo a la mujer cuyo hijo había resucitado: «Levántate y vete, tú y tu casa, a residir donde puedas, porque Yahveh ha llamado al hambre y viene ya hacia la tierra por siete años».
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 Se levantó la mujer e hizo según la palabra del hombre de Dios; se fue ella y su familia a vivir en tierra de filisteos siete años.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Al cabo de los siete años volvió la mujer del país de los filisteos y fue a apelar al rey por su casa y por su campo.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 Estaba el rey hablando con Guejazí, criado del hombre de Dios, y le decía: «Cuéntame todas las grandes cosas que hizo Eliseo».
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 Estaba él contando al rey cómo había resucitado al muerto, cuando llegó la mujer, cuyo hijo había resucitado, para apelar al rey por su casa y su campo y dijo Guejazí: «¡Oh mi señor! Esta es la mujer y éste su hijo, al que resucitó Eliseo».
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 Preguntó el rey a la mujer y ella se lo relató; el rey puso un eunuco a disposición de la mujer diciendo: «Que se le devuelva todo lo suyo, con todos los productos del campo, desde el día en que ella abandonó la tierra hasta ahora».
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Eliseo fue a Damasco. Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, estaba enfermo y le avisaron: «El hombre de Dios ha venido aquí».
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 Dijo el rey a Jazael: «Toma en tu mano un presente y vete al encuentro del hombre de Dios y consulta a Yahveh por su medio diciendo: ¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?»
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Fue Jazael a su encuentro llevando en su mano un presente de todo lo mejor de Damasco, la carga de cuarenta camellos; entró, se detuvo ante él y dijo: «Tu hijo Ben Hadad, rey de Aram, me ha enviado a ti para preguntarte: ¿Sobreviviré a esta enfermedad?»
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Eliseo le dijo: «Vete y dile: “Puedes vivir”; pero Yahveh me ha hecho ver que de cierto morirá».
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Y se inmovilizaron sus facciones quedándose rígido en extremo, y rompió a llorar el varón de Dios.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 Dijo Jazael: «¿Por qué llora mi señor?» Le respondió: «Porque sé el mal que vas a hacer a los israelitas: pasarás a fuego sus fortalezas, matarás a espada a sus mejores, aplastarás a sus pequeñuelos y abrirás el vientre a sus embarazadas».
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Dijo Jazael: «Pues, ¿qué es tu siervo? ¿Como un perro hará cosa tan enorme?» Respondió Eliseo: «Yahveh ha hecho que te vea como rey de Aram».
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 Partió de junto a Eliseo y llegó donde su señor. Le preguntó: «¿Qué te ha dicho Eliseo?» Respondió: «Me ha dicho que puedes vivir».
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 A la mañana siguiente tomó una manta, la empapó en agua y la extendió sobre su rostro y murió. Reinó en su lugar Jazael.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 El año quinto de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Joram, hijo de Josafat, rey de Judá.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Tenía 32 años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 Anduvo por el camino de los reyes de Israel como había hecho la casa de Ajab, porque se había casado con una mujer de la familia de Ajab, e hizo mal a los ojos de Yahveh.

21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 Pasó Joram a Saír con todos sus carros. 24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 Joram se acostó con sus padres y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David, y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ocozías.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 El año doce de Joram, hijo de Ajab, rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Ocozías, hijo de Joram, rey de Judá.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. 29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram.
