1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Or Eliseo disse alla donna, di cui avea risuscitato il figliuolo: Su via, vattene tu, e la tua famiglia, dovunque troverai commodo fuora del tuo paese: perocché il Signore ha chiamata la fame, ed ella verrà per sette anni sopra questa terra.
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 Ed ella si mosse, e fece secondo quello, che le avea detto l'uom di Dio: e andò colla sua famiglia pellegrinando nella terra de' Filistei per molto tempo.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 E finiti i sette anni, tornò la donna dal paese de' Filistei: e andò a ricorrere al re, per riaver la sua casa, e i suoi poderi.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 Or il re discorreva con Giezi servo dell'uom di Dio, e dicevagli: Raccontami tutte le cose grandi fatta da Eliseo.
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 E mentre quegli raccontava a lui come (Eliseo) avea risusciato il morto, comparve la donna, il di cui figliuolo era stato risuscitato, la quale gridava al re per ragione della sua casa, e de' suoi poderi: e Giezi disse: Questa, o re mio signore, è quella donna, e questo è il suo figliuolo risuscitato da Eliseo.
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 E il re interrogò la donna, la quale gliene fece il racconto. E il re mandò con lei un eunuco, dicendo: Restituisci a lei tutto il suo, e tutte le entrate de' poderi dal di, in cui ella lasciò il paese fino al presente.
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Andò ancora Eliseo verso Damasco, e Benadad re della Siria era ammalato: e gli fu portata la nuova, e gli dissero: L'uomo di Dio è venuto in queste parti.
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 E il re disse ad Hazael: Prendi teco dei regali, e va incontro all'uom di Dio, e consulta per mezzo suo il Signore, e domandagli s'io possa guarire a questo mio male.
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Hazaele pertanto andò incontro a lui, portando seco in regalo tutte le cose più squisite di Damasco sopra quaranta cammelli carichi: e presentatosi a lui, gli disse: Il tuo figlio Benadad re di Siria mi ha mandato a te per dirti: Potrò io guarire da questa mia malattia?
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Ed Eliseo gli disse: Va, e digli: Tu guarirai; ma il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere, ch'ei morra senz' altro.
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 E si fermò con lui, e si conturbò l'uomo di Dio talmente che divento rosso in faccia, e pianse.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 E disseglì Hazaele: Per qual motivo piange il signor mio. E quegli rispose: Perchè so il male, che tu farai a figliuoli d'Israele: tu darai alle fiamme le loro città munite, e ucciderai di spada la loro gioventù, e infrangerai i loro bambinelli, e sventrerai le pregnanti.
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 E disse Hazaele: Ma che son io tuo servo un cane, io, che ho da far cosa sì grande? Ed Eliseo gli disse: Il Signore mi ha fatto conoscere, che tu sarai re della Siria.
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 E quegli partitosi da Eliseo tornò al suo padrone, il quale gli disse: Che ti ha egli detto Eliseo? E quegli rispose: Mi ha detto, che tu ricupererai la sanità.
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 E il di seguente prese un coltrone,e lo inzuppò d'acqua, e lo distese sulla faccia del re; il quale essendo morto, regnò Hazaele in suo luogo.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 L'anno quinto di Joram figliuolo di Achab re d'Israele, e di Josaphat re di Giuda, regnò Joram figliuolo di Josaphat re di Giuda.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Egli avea trentadue anni, quando principiò a regnare; e regnò otto anni in Gerusalemme.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 E seguì le tracce dei re d'Israele,come avea fatto la casa di Achab; perocché egli avea per moglie una figliuola di Achab; e fece il male nel cospetto del Signore.
19 But Yahweh was unwil ing to destroy Judah, because of his servant David, and was faithful to thepromise which he had made him to leave him a lamp for ever in his presence.	19 Ma il Signore non volle sterminar Giuda per amore di David suo servo, per serbare a lui, e a' suoi figliuoli una fiaccola in ogni tempo, come a lui avea promesso.
20 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	20 A' tempi di lui Edom si ribellò da Giuda, e si elesse un re.
21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 E Joram andò a Seira con tutti i suoi cocchi: e di notte tempo si mosse, e mise in rotta gl'Idumei, i quali lo avean circondato, e i comandanti de' loro cocchi; e quel popolo si fuggì alle sue tende.
22 Even so, Edom threw off the domination of Judah, remaining free to the present day. Libnah alsorevolted at that time.	22 Ma Edom si staccò da Giuda per non essergli più soggetto fino a questo dì. E in quel tempo stesso si ribellò anche Lobna.
23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?	23 Il resto poi delle azioni di Joram, e tutto quello, ch'egli operò, non è egli scritto nel giornale de fatti dei re di Giuda?
24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 E Joram si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di Davidde, e regnò in sua vece Ochozia suo figliuolo.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 L'anno duodecimo di Joram figli nolo di Achab re d'Israele, principiò a regnare Ochozia figliuolo di Joram re di Giuda.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Ventidue anni aveva Ochozia, quando cominciò a regnare, e regnò un anno in Gerusalemme: sua madre ebbe nome Athalia figliuola di Amri re d'Israele.
27 He followed the example of the House of Ahab and did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as the House ofAhab were doing, to whom he was related by marriage.	27 Egli seguì le tracce della casa di Achab: e fece il male nel cospetto del Signore, come la casa di Achab: perocché egli era genero della casa di Achab.
28 He went with Jehoram son of Ahab to make war on Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth in Gilead, but theAramaeans wounded Jehoram.	28 Egli parimente andò con Joram figliuolo di Achab a combattere contro Hazael re della Siria a Ramoth di Galaad, e fu ferito Joram dai Siri:
29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.	29 E tornò a Jezrael a farsi curare dalle ferite ricevute dai Siri in Ramoth, mentre combatteva contro Hazael re della Siria. E Ochozia figliuolo di Joram re di Giuda, andò a visitare Joram figliuolo di Achab in Jezrael, perchè quivi egli era ammalato.
