1 Elisha had said to the woman whose son he had raised to life, 'Move away with your family, and livewhere you can in some foreign country, for Yahweh has cal ed up a famine -- it is already coming on the country-- for seven years.'	1 Élisée dit à la femme dont il avait ressuscité le fils: “Lève-toi, pars avec ta famille et installe-toi où tu pourras, car Yahvé a appelé la famine et elle arrive sur le pays. Il y en aura pour 7 ans.”
2 The woman hurried to do what the man of God had told her: she set out, she and her family, and forseven years she lived in Philistine territory.	2 La femme se leva donc et fit comme l’homme de Dieu le lui avait dit, elle partit avec sa famille et elle resta 7 ans au pays des Philistins.
3 When the seven years were over, the woman returned from Philistine territory and went to lodge a claimwith the king for her house and land.	3 Au bout de 7 ans, la femme revint du pays des Philistins et alla réclamer auprès du roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ.
4 Now the king was talking to Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. 'Tel me', he was saying, 'al aboutthe marvels which Elisha did.'	4 Or le roi parlait avec Guéhazi, serviteur de l’homme de Dieu: “Raconte-moi, lui disait-il, toutes les choses extraordinaires qu’a faites Élisée.”
5 Gehazi was just tel ing the king how Elisha had raised the dead child to life, when the woman whose sonElisha had raised lodged her claim with the king for her house and land. 'My lord king,' Gehazi said, 'this is thevery woman, and that is her son whom Elisha raised to life.'	5 Pendant que le serviteur racontait au roi comment son maître avait rendu la vie à un mort, voici qu’arrive la femme dont Élisée avait ressuscité le fils, et elle fait sa demande au roi au sujet de sa maison et de son champ. Guéhazi lui dit: “Mon seigneur le roi, voici justement la femme, et voici le fils auquel Élisée a rendu la vie!”
6 The king questioned the woman, who told him the story. The king then delegated one of the officials toher with this order, 'See that al her property is restored to her, and al the revenue from her land from the dayshe left the country until now.'	6 Le roi l’interrogea et la femme lui donna tous les détails, après quoi le roi la confia à un serviteur auquel il donna cet ordre: “Fais rendre à cette femme tout ce qui lui appartient, ainsi que les revenus du champ depuis le jour où elle a quitté le pays jusqu’à présent.”
7 Elisha went to Damascus. Ben-Hadad king of Aram was il , and was told, 'The man of God has come althe way to us.'	7 Élisée se rendit à Damas. Le roi d’Aram, Ben-Hadad, était malade et on lui donna la nouvelle: “L’homme de Dieu est arrivé ici.”
8 Then the king said to Hazael, 'Take a present with you and go and meet the man of God; consultYahweh through him, and find out if I shal recover from my il ness.'	8 Alors le roi dit à Hazaël: “Prends avec toi un cadeau et va à la rencontre de l’homme de Dieu. Tu lui demanderas de consulter Yahvé pour savoir si je guérirai de cette maladie.”
9 So Hazael went to meet Elisha, taking with him as a present the best that Damascus could offer, a loadfor forty camels. He arrived and, presenting himself, said, 'Your son Ben-Hadad king of Aram has sent me to askyou, "Shall I recover from my illness?" '	9 Hazaël partit donc à la rencontre de l’homme de Dieu, il avait pris avec lui comme cadeau tout ce qu’il y a de meilleur à Damas: de quoi charger 40 chameaux! Il arriva chez l’homme de Dieu et, quand il fut introduit, il lui dit: “Ton fils Ben-Hadad, le roi d’Aram, m’a envoyé vers toi pour savoir s’il guérirait de cette maladie.”
10 Elisha replied, 'Go and tell him, "You might recover," though Yahweh has shown me that he wilcertainly die.'	10 Élisée lui répondit: “Dis-lui qu’il est sûr de guérir, mais Yahvé m’a fait voir qu’il mourra certainement.”
11 Then the face of the man of God went rigid, and his look grew strangely fixed, and he wept.	11 Alors le visage de l’homme de Dieu se contracta et son regard devint fixe, ensuite il pleura.
12 'Why', Hazael asked, 'does my lord weep?' 'Because I know', Elisha replied, 'what harm you wil do tothe Israelites: you wil burn down their fortresses, put their picked warriors to the sword, dash their little childrento pieces, disembowel their pregnant women.'	12 Hazaël lui dit: “Pourquoi pleures-tu, mon seigneur?” Il répondit: “C’est que je vois tout le mal que tu vas faire aux Israélites. Tu mettras le feu à leurs forteresses, tu tueras leurs jeunes gens par l’épée, tu écraseras les enfants et tu éventreras les femmes enceintes.”
13 'But what is your servant?' Hazael said. 'How could this dog achieve anything so great?' 'In a visionfrom Yahweh,' Elisha replied, 'I have seen you king of Aram.'	13 Hazaël lui dit: “Moi qui suis moins qu’un chien, comment pourrais-je accomplir de tels exploits?” Élisée lui répondit: “Yahvé me l’a fait voir: je t’ai vu roi d’Aram.”
14 Leaving Elisha, Hazael went back to his master who asked, 'What did Elisha say to you?' He replied,'He told me that you might recover.'	14 Hazaël quitta Élisée et s’en retourna chez son maître. Celui-ci lui dit: “Que t’a dit Élisée?” Il répondit: “Il m’a dit que tu guérirais certainement.”
15 Next day he took a blanket, soaked it in water, and spread it over his face. So died Ben-Hadad, andHazael succeeded him.	15 Mais le lendemain il prit une couverture, il la plongea dans l’eau et l’étendit sur le visage de Ben-Hadad qui mourut. Et Hazaël régna à sa place.
16 In the fifth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram son of Jehoshaphat became king ofJudah.	16 Joram, fils de Josaphat, devint roi de Juda dans la cinquième année du règne de Joram, fils d’Akab, roi d’Israël.
17 He was thirty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for eight years in Jerusalem.	17 Il avait 32 ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna 8 ans à Jérusalem.
18 He followed the example of the kings of Israel as the House of Ahab were doing; he had married one ofAhab's daughters; and he did what is displeasing to Yahweh.	18 Il avait épousé une fille d’Akab, c’est pourquoi il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, il imita la conduite des rois d’Israël comme l’avait fait la famille d’Akab.
19 But Yahweh was unwil ing to destroy Judah, because of his servant David, and was faithful to thepromise which he had made him to leave him a lamp for ever in his presence.	19 Pourtant Yahvé ne voulut pas détruire Juda, à cause de David son serviteur, et de la promesse qu’il lui avait faite de lui donner toujours un héritier parmi ses fils.
20 In his time Edom threw off the domination of Judah and set up a king for itself.	20 Durant son règne, Édom rejeta la domination de Juda et se donna un roi.
21 Jehoram crossed to Zair, and with him al the chariots . . . Under cover of dark, he and his chariotcommanders broke through the Edomites surrounding him; the people fled to their tents.	21 Le roi Joram descendit sur Séïr avec tous ses chars, mais les Édomites l’encerclèrent. Il se leva de nuit et, avec les chefs de chars, il força les lignes édomites, mais toute l’armée avait fui, chacun chez soi.
22 Even so, Edom threw off the domination of Judah, remaining free to the present day. Libnah alsorevolted at that time.	22 Et depuis, jusqu’à ce jour, Édom n’a plus été sous la domination de Juda. En ce temps-là encore, Libna se révolta.
23 The rest of the history of Jehoram, his entire career, is this not recorded in the Book of the Annals ofthe Kings of Judah?	23 Le reste de l’histoire de Joram, toutes ses actions, cela n’est-il pas écrit au Livre des Chroniques des Rois de Juda?
24 Then Jehoram fel asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David; his sonAhaziah succeeded him.	24 Joram se coucha avec ses pères et on l’enterra avec ses pères dans la Cité de David; Okozias, son fils, devint roi à sa place.
25 In the twelfth year of Jehoram son of Ahab, king of Israel, Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah,became king.	25 Okozias fils de Joram devint roi de Juda en la douzième année du règne de Joram fils d’Akab, roi d’Israël.
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for one year inJerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.	26 Okozias avait 22 ans quand il devint roi, il régna un an à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Athalie, elle était fille d’Omri, roi d’Israël.
27 He followed the example of the House of Ahab and did what is displeasing to Yahweh, as the House ofAhab were doing, to whom he was related by marriage.	27 Il se choisit une femme dans la famille d’Akab; ensuite il suivit les traces de la famille d’Akab et fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé.
28 He went with Jehoram son of Ahab to make war on Hazael king of Aram at Ramoth in Gilead, but theAramaeans wounded Jehoram.	28 Avec Joram, fils d’Akab, il alla combattre Hazaël, roi d’Aram, à Ramot de Galaad; mais les Araméens battirent Joram.
29 King Jehoram returned to Jezreel to recover from the wounds which he had received at Ramah,fighting against Hazael king of Aram. Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visitJehoram son of Ahab because he was ailing.	29 Le roi Joram revint à Yizréel pour se faire soigner, car les Araméens l’avaient blessé à Ramot lorsqu’il combattait Hazaël, roi d’Aram. Okozias, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit alors à Yizréel pour voir Joram, fils d’Akab, qui était blessé.
