1 Kings 22

1 There was a lul of three years, with no fighting between Aram and Israel.	1 Elmúlt erre három esztendő, anélkül, hogy háború lett volna Szíria s Izrael között.
2 Then, in the third year, Jehoshaphat king of Judah paid a visit to the king of Israel.	2 A harmadik esztendőben aztán lement Jozafát, Júda királya Izrael királyához.
3 The king of Israel said to his officers, 'You are aware that Ramoth in Gilead belongs to us? And yet wedo nothing to wrest it away from the king of Aram.'	3 Izrael királya pedig azt mondta szolgáinak: »Nem tudjátok-e, hogy Rámót-Gileád a miénk? És mi hagyjuk és nem vesszük vissza Szíria királyának kezéből?«
4 He said to Jehoshaphat, 'Wil you come with me to attack Ramoth in Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied tothe king of Israel, 'I will be as you, my men as yours, my horses as yours.'	4 Azt mondta ekkor Jozafátnak: »Eljössz-e velem hadakozni Rámót-Gileád ellen?«
5 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please enquire what the word of Yahweh is.'	5 Azt mondta erre Jozafát Izrael királyának: »Éppoly kész vagyok, mint te: népem s néped egy, s lovasaim a te lovasaid.« Majd azt mondta Jozafát Izrael királyának: »Kérdezd meg, kérlek, még ma az Úr szavát.«
6 The king of Israel then cal ed the prophets together, about four hundred of them. 'Should I go andattack Ramoth in Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'Go ahead,' they replied, 'for Yahweh has alreadygiven it to the king.'	6 Egybegyűjtötte erre Izrael királya a prófétákat, mintegy négyszáz embert, s azt mondta nekik: »Elmenjek-e hadakozni Rámót-Gileád ellen, vagy maradjak nyugton?« Azok azt felelték: »Menj fel, s az Úr a király kezébe adja.«
7 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, so that we can enquirethrough him?'	7 Azt mondta azonban Jozafát: »Nincs-e itt az Úr valamelyik prófétája, hogy ő általa kérdezősködhetnénk?«
8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, only unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'I hope the king's words are unjustified,' said Jehoshaphat.	8 Azt mondta erre Izrael királya Jozafátnak: »Van itt még egy ember, aki által megkérdezhetnénk az Urat, de én gyűlölöm, mert nem jövendöl nekem jót, csak rosszat: Mikeás, Jemla fia.« Azt mondta neki Jozafát: »Ne beszélj így, király!«
9 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	9 Odahívatott tehát Izrael királya egy udvari szolgát, s azt mondta neki: »Siess, hozd ide Mikeást, Jemla fiát.«
10 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes,in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets in a state of ecstasy before them.	10 Ezalatt Izrael királya s Jozafát, Júda királya ott üldögéltek, mindenki a maga királyi székében, királyi díszbe öltözötten, a Szamaria kapuja előtti térségen, s a próféták mind ott prófétáltak színük előtt.
11 Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "With hornslike these you wil gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." '	11 Cidkija, Kánaána fia, vasszarvakat is készített magának, s azt mondta: »Ezt üzeni az Úr: Ilyenekkel ökleled majd Szíriát, amíg el nem törlöd.«
12 And all the prophets cried ecstatical y in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth in Gilead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	12 Valamennyi próféta hasonlóképp prófétált és azt mondta: »Menj fel Rámót-Gileád ellen: sikerülni fog, s az Úr a király kezébe adja.«
13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look here, what the prophets aresaying is uniformly favourable to the king. I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	13 Eközben az a követ, aki elment, hogy elhívja Mikeást, azt mondta neki: »Íme, a próféták szavai egyhangúlag jót jövendölnek a királynak: legyen tehát szavad hasonló az övékéhez és szólj jót.«
14 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak as Yahweh tel s me!'	14 Azt mondta neki Mikeás: »Az Úr életére mondom, hogy azt fogom mondani, amit az Úr mond nekem.«
15 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we go and attack Ramoth in Gilead, orshould we hold back?' He replied, 'Go ahead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	15 Amikor aztán a királyhoz ért, azt mondta neki a király: »Mikeás, felmenjünk-e hadakozni Rámót-Gileád ellen, vagy hagyjuk?« Ő azt felelte neki: »Menj fel, sikerülni fog, s az Úr a király kezébe adja.«
16 The king then said, 'How often must I put you on oath to tell me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	16 Azt mondta erre neki a király: »Ismét s ismét eskü alatt kényszerítelek, hogy ne mondj nekem az Úr nevében mást, csak azt, ami igaz.«
17 Then he spoke out: I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go safely home!'	17 Erre ő azt mondta: »Láttam egész Izraelt szétszórva a hegyeken mint a juhokat, amelyeknek nincs pásztoruk. És azt mondta az Úr: ‘Nincs ezeknek uruk, térjen vissza mindenki békességben házába.’«
18 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	18 (Azt mondta erre Izrael királya Jozafátnak: »Nem megmondtam neked, hogy nem jövendöl jót nekem, csak mindig rosszat?«)
19 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing by him, on his right and on his left.	19 Majd folytatta és azt mondta: »Halljad tehát az Úr szavát: Láttam az Urat, amint királyi székében ült, s az egész mennyei sereg jobbról s balról mellette állt
20 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab into marching to his death at Ramoth in Gilead?" At which someanswered one way, and some another.	20 és az Úr azt mondta: ‘Ki szedné rá Áchábot, Izrael királyát, hogy felmenjen és elessék Rámót-Gileádnál?’ Ekkor egyik ezt, a másik azt a dolgot mondta.
21 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him."	21 Előlépett azonban a lélek, s az Úr elé állt és szólt: ‘Én rászedem.’ Szólt hozzá az Úr: ‘Mi által?’
22 "How?" Yahweh asked. He replied, "I shal go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of al hisprophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	22 Erre ő azt mondta: ‘Kimegyek, s hazug lélek leszek valamennyi prófétája szájában.’ Azt mondta erre az Úr: ‘Szedd rá, sikerülni fog: menj csak ki és tégy úgy.’ –
23 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of al your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	23 Nos tehát íme, a hazugság lelkét adta az Úr valamennyi itt levő prófétád szájába, az Úr azonban rosszat szólt ellened.«
24 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	24 Odalépett ekkor Cidkija, Kánaána fia, s arcul ütötte Mikeást és azt mondta: »Hát engem elhagyott az Úr lelke, neked azonban szólt?«
25 'That is what you will find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	25 Azt mondta erre Mikeás: »Majd meglátod azon a napon, amikor a kamrában levő kamrába fogsz menni elbújni.«
26 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon, governor of the city, and Joash,the king's son,	26 Izrael királya pedig azt mondta: »Vigyétek Mikeást el, s maradjon Ámonnál, a város parancsnokánál s Joásnál, a király fiánál
27 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	27 és mondjátok nekik: ‘Ezt üzeni a király: Vessétek tömlöcbe ezt az embert, s tartsátok nyomorúságos kenyéren és szűk vízen, amíg én békével vissza nem térek.’«
28 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	28 Azt mondta erre Mikeás: »Ha te békével visszatérsz, nem szólt az Úr általam.« Majd azt mondta: »Halljátok népek mindnyájan!«
29 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth in Gilead.	29 Felvonult tehát Izrael királya és Jozafát Júda királya Rámót-Gileád ellen.
30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shal disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.	30 Azt mondta ekkor Izrael királya Jozafátnak: »Fogj fegyvert, s eredj a harcba, de csak öltsd fel saját ruháidat!« Izrael királya azonban álruhát öltött, s úgy ment a harcba. –
31 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	31 Szíria királya pedig megparancsolta a szekerek harminckét parancsnokának: »Ne harcoljatok se kicsiny, se nagy ellen, hanem csak egyedül Izrael királya ellen.« –
32 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is obviously the king ofIsrael,' and surrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry	32 Így amikor a szekerek parancsnokai Jozafátot meglátták, azt hitték, hogy ő Izrael királya, s rátámadtak, s ellene hadakoztak, de Jozafát felkiáltott.
33 the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	33 Megértették erre a szekerek parancsnokai, hogy nem ő Izrael királya, s ott hagyták.
34 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' said the king to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	34 Egy ember azonban felvonta íját és csak úgy találomra ellőtte a nyilat, s véletlenül éppen Izrael királyát találta el a tüdő és a gyomor között. Erre ez azt mondta szekérvezetőjének: »Fordulj meg, s vigyél ki engem a seregből, mert súlyosan megsebesültem.«
35 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on and the king had to be held upright in his chariot facingthe Aramaeans, the blood from the wound running into the bottom of the chariot, until in the evening he died.	35 Ám nagy harc kerekedett azon a napon, s így Izrael királya továbbra is ott állt szekerén a szírekkel szemben. Estére azonban meghalt; sebéből a vér a szekér belsejébe folyt.
36 At sundown a shout ran through the ranks, 'Every man back to his town, every man back to hiscountry!	36 Erre még napnyugta előtt kikiáltotta a hírnök az egész seregben, s azt mondták: »Mindenki térjen vissza városába s földjére!«
37 The king is dead.' He was taken to Samaria and in Samaria the king was buried.	37 Meghalt tehát a király, s elvitték Szamariába, s eltemették a királyt Szamariában,
38 They washed the chariot at the Pool of Samaria; the dogs licked up the blood, and the prostituteswashed in it, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spoken.	38 szekerét pedig megmosták és szerszámát leöblítették Szamaria tavában, amikor is a kutyák felnyalták vérét – az Úrnak azon szava szerint, amelyet szólt.
39 The rest of the history of Ahab, his entire career, the ivory house he erected, al the towns he built, isthis not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	39 Ácháb egyéb dolgai pedig, s mindaz, amit cselekedett, az elefántcsontház, amelyet építtetett, s mindazok a városok, amelyeket kiépíttetett, nemde meg vannak írva Izrael királyainak krónikás könyvében?
40 When Ahab fel asleep with his ancestors, his son Ahaziah succeeded him.	40 Ácháb tehát aludni tért atyáihoz, s fia, Ahaszja lett a király helyette.
41 Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.	41 Jozafát, Ásza fia, Áchábnak, Izrael királyának negyedik esztendejében kezdett uralkodni Júdán.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-fiveyears in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.	42 Harmincöt esztendős volt, amikor uralkodni kezdett, s huszonöt esztendeig uralkodott Jeruzsálemben; anyját, aki Saláj lánya volt, Azubának hívták.
43 In every way he followed the example of his father Asa undeviatingly, doing what is pleasing toYahweh.	43 Mindenben apjának, Ászának útján járt, s arról le nem tért, s azt cselekedte, ami igaz az Úr színe előtt.
44 The high places, however, were not abolished; the people stil offered sacrifice and incense on thehigh places.	44 Mindazonáltal a magaslatokat nem távolította el: a nép ugyanis még a magaslatokon áldozott és gyújtott jó illatot.
45 Jehoshaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.	45 Jozafát békességet tartott Izrael királyával.
46 The rest of the history of Jehoshaphat, the valour he showed, the wars he waged, is this not recordedin the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?	46 Jozafát egyéb dolgai pedig és cselekedetei, amelyeket művelt, valamint harcai, nemde meg vannak írva Júda királyainak krónikás könyvében?
47 The few male sacred prostitutes left over from the days of his father Asa, he expel ed from thecountry.	47 Ő eltávolította az országból azoknak a fiúszeretőknek maradékait is, akik apja, Ásza napjaiból maradtak.
48 At the time, Edom had no king, and King	48 Akkoriban nem állt király Edom élén.

51 When Jehoshaphat fel asleep with his ancestors he was buried in the City of his ancestor, David; hisson Jehoram succeeded him.	51 Amikor aztán Jozafát aludni tért atyáihoz, eltemették melléjük atyja, Dávid városában és fia, Jórám lett a király helyette.
52 Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king ofJudah, and reigned over Israel for two years.	52 Ahaszja, Ácháb fia Jozafátnak, Júda királyának tizenhetedik esztendejében kezdett uralkodni Izraelen Szamariában, s két esztendeig uralkodott Izraelen.
53 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, by following the example of his father and mother, and ofJeroboam son of Nebat who had led Israel into sin.	53 Azt cselekedte, ami gonosz az Úr színe előtt, s apjának meg anyjának útján járt, meg Jeroboámnak, Nábát fiának az útján, aki vétekre vitte Izraelt.
54 He served Baal and worshipped him, and provoked the anger of Yahweh God of Israel just as hisfather had done.	54 Baált szolgálta és imádta – az Urat, Izrael Istenét pedig bosszantotta, egészen úgy, ahogy apja cselekedett.
