1 There was a lul of three years, with no fighting between Aram and Israel.	1 Drei Jahre hatte das Land Ruhe und gab es keinen Krieg zwischen Aram und Israel.
2 Then, in the third year, Jehoshaphat king of Judah paid a visit to the king of Israel.	2 Als im dritten Jahr Joschafat, der König von Juda, zum König von Israel kam,
3 The king of Israel said to his officers, 'You are aware that Ramoth in Gilead belongs to us? And yet wedo nothing to wrest it away from the king of Aram.'	3 sagte der König von Israel zu seinen Beamten: Ihr wisst doch, dass Ramot-Gilead uns gehört. Wir aber zögern, es dem König von Aram zu entreißen.
4 He said to Jehoshaphat, 'Wil you come with me to attack Ramoth in Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied tothe king of Israel, 'I will be as you, my men as yours, my horses as yours.'	4 Und er fragte Joschafat: Würdest du mit mir gegen Ramot-Gilead in den Krieg ziehen? Dieser antwortete dem König von Israel: Ich ziehe mit dir, mein Volk mit deinem Volk, meine Pferde mit deinen Pferden.
5 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please enquire what the word of Yahweh is.'	5 Joschafat bat aber den König von Israel: Befrag doch zuvor den Herrn!
6 The king of Israel then cal ed the prophets together, about four hundred of them. 'Should I go andattack Ramoth in Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'Go ahead,' they replied, 'for Yahweh has alreadygiven it to the king.'	6 Da versammelte der König von Israel die Propheten, gegen vierhundert Mann, und fragte sie: Soll ich gegen Ramot-Gilead zu Felde ziehen, oder soll ich es lassen? Sie gaben den Bescheid: Zieh hinauf! Der Herr gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
7 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, so that we can enquirethrough him?'	7 Doch Joschafat sagte: Ist hier sonst kein Prophet des Herrn, den wir befragen könnten?
8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, only unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'I hope the king's words are unjustified,' said Jehoshaphat.	8 Der König von Israel antwortete Joschafat: Es ist noch einer da, durch den wir den Herrn befragen könnten. Doch ich hasse ihn; denn er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes. Es ist Micha, der Sohn Jimlas. Joschafat erwiderte: Der König sage das nicht.
9 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	9 Da rief der König von Israel einen Hofbeamten herbei und befahl ihm, unverzüglich Micha, den Sohn Jimlas, zu holen.
10 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes,in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets in a state of ecstasy before them.	10 Der König von Israel und Joschafat, der König von Juda, saßen in königlichen Gewändern auf ihren Thronen. 11 Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "With hornslike these you wil gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." 12 And all the prophets cried ecstatical y in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth in Gilead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	12 Alle Propheten weissagten in gleicher Weise und riefen: Zieh nach Ramot-Gilead und sei erfolgreich; der Herr gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look here, what the prophets aresaying is uniformly favourable to the king. I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	13 Der Bote aber, der Micha holen sollte, redete ihm zu: Die Worte der Propheten waren ohne Ausnahme günstig für den König. Mögen deine Worte ihren Worten gleichen. Sag daher Gutes an!
14 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak as Yahweh tel s me!'	14 Doch Micha erwiderte: So wahr der Herr lebt: Nur was der Herr mir sagt, werde ich sagen.
15 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we go and attack Ramoth in Gilead, orshould we hold back?' He replied, 'Go ahead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	15 Als er zum König kam, fragte ihn dieser: Micha, sollen wir gegen Ramot-Gilead zu Felde ziehen, oder sollen wir es lassen? Micha antwortete: Zieh hinauf und sei erfolgreich! Der Herr gibt die Stadt in die Hand des Königs.
16 The king then said, 'How often must I put you on oath to tell me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	16 Doch der König entgegnete: Wie oft muss ich dich beschwören, mir im Namen des Herrn nur die Wahrheit zu sagen?
17 Then he spoke out: I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go safely home!'	17 Da sagte Micha: Ich sah ganz Israel über die Berge zerstreut wie Schafe, die keinen Hirten haben. Und der Herr sagte: Sie haben keine Herren mehr. So gehe jeder in Frieden nach Hause.
18 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	18 Da wandte sich der König von Israel an Joschafat: Habe ich es dir nicht gesagt? Er weissagt mir nie Gutes, sondern immer nur Schlimmes.
19 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing by him, on his right and on his left.	19 Micha aber fuhr fort: Darum - höre das Wort des Herrn: Ich sah den Herrn auf seinem Thron sitzen; das ganze Heer des Himmels stand zu seiner Rechten und seiner Linken.
20 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab into marching to his death at Ramoth in Gilead?" At which someanswered one way, and some another.	20 Und der Herr fragte: Wer will Ahab betören, sodass er nach Ramot-Gilead hinaufzieht und dort fällt? Da hatte der eine diesen, der andere jenen Vorschlag.
21 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him."	21 Zuletzt trat der Geist vor, stellte sich vor den Herrn und sagte: Ich werde ihn betören. Der Herr fragte ihn: Auf welche Weise?
22 "How?" Yahweh asked. He replied, "I shal go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of al hisprophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	22 Er gab zur Antwort: Ich werde mich aufmachen und zu einem Lügengeist im Mund all seiner Propheten werden. Da sagte der Herr: Du wirst ihn betören; du vermagst es. Geh und tu es!
23 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of al your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	23 So hat der Herr jetzt einen Geist der Lüge in den Mund all deiner Propheten gelegt; denn er hat über dich Unheil beschlossen.
24 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	24 Da trat Zidkija, der Sohn Kenaanas, zu Micha, schlug ihn ins Gesicht und rief: Wie, sollte denn der Geist des Herrn von mir gewichen sein, um mit dir zu reden?
25 'That is what you will find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	25 Micha erwiderte: Du wirst es an jenem Tag erfahren, an dem du von einem Gemach in das andere eilst, um dich zu verstecken.
26 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon, governor of the city, and Joash,the king's son,	26 Der König von Israel aber gab den Befehl: Nehmt Micha fest, führt ihn zum Stadtobersten Amon und zum Prinzen Joasch
27 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	27 und meldet: So spricht der König: Werft diesen Mann ins Gefängnis, und haltet ihn streng bei Brot und Wasser, bis ich wohlbehalten zurückkomme.
28 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	28 Doch Micha erwiderte: Wenn du wohlbehalten zurückkommst, dann hat der Herr nicht durch mich geredet. [Und er sagte: Hört, alle ihr Völker!]
29 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth in Gilead.	29 Darauf zog der König von Israel mit Joschafat, dem König von Juda, gegen Ramot-Gilead.
30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shal disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.	30 Der König von Israel sagte zu Joschafat: Ich will mich verkleiden und so in den Kampf ziehen. Du aber behalte deine Gewänder an! So ging der König von Israel verkleidet in den Kampf.
31 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	31 Der König von Aram hatte aber den zweiunddreißig Obersten seiner Kriegswagen befohlen: Greift niemanden an, er sei hohen oder niederen Ranges, außer den König von Israel!
32 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is obviously the king ofIsrael,' and surrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry	32 Als daher die Obersten der Kriegswagen Joschafat erblickten und ihn für den König von Israel hielten, stürmten sie auf ihn ein, sodass er um Hilfe schrie.
33 the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	33 Doch als sie sahen, dass er nicht der König von Israel war, ließen sie von ihm ab.
34 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' said the king to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	34 Ein Mann aber spannte aufs Geratewohl seinen Bogen und traf den König von Israel zwischen Panzer und Leibgurt. Dieser befahl daher seinem Wagenlenker: Wende um und bring mich aus der Schlacht; denn ich bin verwundet.
35 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on and the king had to be held upright in his chariot facingthe Aramaeans, the blood from the wound running into the bottom of the chariot, until in the evening he died.	35 Da aber die Schlacht an jenem Tag heftig wurde, blieb der König im Kampf gegen die Aramäer aufrecht im Wagen stehen. Am Abend starb er. Das Blut der Wunde war in das Innere des Wagens geflossen.
36 At sundown a shout ran through the ranks, 'Every man back to his town, every man back to hiscountry!	36 Bei Sonnenuntergang ließ man im Lager ausrufen: Jeder kehre in seine Stadt, in sein Land zurück!
37 The king is dead.' He was taken to Samaria and in Samaria the king was buried.	37 So starb der König; man brachte ihn nach Samaria und begrub ihn dort.
38 They washed the chariot at the Pool of Samaria; the dogs licked up the blood, and the prostituteswashed in it, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spoken.	38 Als man im Teich von Samaria den Wagen ausspülte, leckten Hunde sein Blut, und Dirnen wuschen sich darin, nach dem Wort, das der Herr gesprochen hatte.
39 The rest of the history of Ahab, his entire career, the ivory house he erected, al the towns he built, isthis not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	39 Die übrige Geschichte Ahabs und alle seine Taten, der Bericht über das Elfenbeinhaus, das er gebaut, und die Städte, die er ausgebaut hat, sind aufgezeichnet in der Chronik der Könige von Israel.
40 When Ahab fel asleep with his ancestors, his son Ahaziah succeeded him.	40 Ahab entschlief zu seinen Vätern und sein Sohn Ahasja wurde König an seiner Stelle.
41 Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.	41 Im vierten Jahr des Königs Ahab von Israel wurde Joschafat, der Sohn Asas, König von Juda.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-fiveyears in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.	42 Er war fünfunddreißig Jahre alt, als er König wurde, und regierte fünfundzwanzig Jahre in Jerusalem. Seine Mutter hieß Asuba und war eine Tochter Schilhis.
43 In every way he followed the example of his father Asa undeviatingly, doing what is pleasing toYahweh.	43 Er folgte ganz den Wegen seines Vaters Asa, ohne von ihnen abzuweichen, und tat, was dem Herrn gefiel.
44 The high places, however, were not abolished; the people stil offered sacrifice and incense on thehigh places.	44 Nur die Kulthöhen verschwanden nicht. Das Volk brachte noch Schlacht- und Rauchopfer auf ihnen dar.
45 Jehoshaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.	45 Joschafat hatte auch Frieden mit dem König von Israel.

51 When Jehoshaphat fel asleep with his ancestors he was buried in the City of his ancestor, David; hisson Jehoram succeeded him.	51 Joschafat entschlief zu seinen Vätern und wurde bei seinen Vätern in der Stadt seines Vaters David begraben. Sein Sohn Joram wurde König an seiner Stelle.
52 Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king ofJudah, and reigned over Israel for two years.	52 Im siebzehnten Jahr des Königs Joschafat von Juda wurde Ahasja, der Sohn Ahabs, in Samaria König von Israel. Er regierte zwei Jahre über Israel
53 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, by following the example of his father and mother, and ofJeroboam son of Nebat who had led Israel into sin.	53 und tat, was dem Herrn missfiel. 54 He served Baal and worshipped him, and provoked the anger of Yahweh God of Israel just as hisfather had done.	54 Auch diente er Baal und betete ihn an. So erzürnte er den Herrn, den Gott Israels, ganz so, wie es sein Vater getan hatte.
