1 Kings 22

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 There was a lul of three years, with no fighting between Aram and Israel.	1 Trascurrieron tres años sin guerra entre Aram e Israel.
2 Then, in the third year, Jehoshaphat king of Judah paid a visit to the king of Israel.	2 Al tercer año bajó Josafat, rey de Judá, donde el rey de Israel,
3 The king of Israel said to his officers, 'You are aware that Ramoth in Gilead belongs to us? And yet wedo nothing to wrest it away from the king of Aram.'	3 y el rey de Israel dijo a sus servidores: «Vosotros sabéis que Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece y no hacemos nada por rescatarla de manos del rey de Aram».
4 He said to Jehoshaphat, 'Wil you come with me to attack Ramoth in Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied tothe king of Israel, 'I will be as you, my men as yours, my horses as yours.'	4 Dijo a Josafat: «¿Quieres venir conmigo para atacar a Ramot de Galaad?» Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: «Yo soy como tú, mi pueblo como tu pueblo, mis caballos como tus caballos».
5 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please enquire what the word of Yahweh is.'	5 Josafat dijo al rey de Israel: «Consulta antes, por favor, la palabra de Yahveh».
6 The king of Israel then cal ed the prophets together, about four hundred of them. 'Should I go andattack Ramoth in Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'Go ahead,' they replied, 'for Yahweh has alreadygiven it to the king.'	6 El rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, cuatrocientos hombres, y les dijo: «¿Debo atacar a Ramot de Galaad, o debo desistir?» Le respondieron: «Sube, porque Yahveh la entregará en manos del rey».
7 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, so that we can enquirethrough him?'	7 Pero Josafat dijo: «No hay aquí otro profeta de Yahveh a quien podamos consultar?»
8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, only unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'I hope the king's words are unjustified,' said Jehoshaphat.	8 Dijo el rey de Israel a Josafat: «Queda todavía un hombre por quien podríamos consultar a Yahveh, pero yo le aborrezco, porque no me profetiza el bien, sino el mal. Es Miqueas, hijo de Yimlá». Dijo Josafat: «No hable el rey así».
9 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	9 Llamó el rey de Israel a un eunuco y le dijo: «Trae en seguida a Miqueas, hijo de Yimlá».
10 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes,in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets in a state of ecstasy before them.	10 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, vestidos de gala, en la era que hay a la entrada de la puerta de Samaría, mientras que todos los profetas estaban en trance delante de ellos.
11 Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "With hornslike these you wil gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." 12 And all the prophets cried ecstatical y in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth in Gilead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	12 Todos los profetas profetizaban del mismo modo diciendo: «Sube contra Ramot de Galaad, tendrás éxito. Yahveh la entregará en manos del rey».
13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look here, what the prophets aresaying is uniformly favourable to the king. I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	13 El mensajero que había ido a llamar a Miqueas le habló diciendo: «Mira que los profetas a una voz predicen el bien al rey. Procura hablar como uno de ellos y anuncia el bien».
14 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak as Yahweh tel s me!'	14 Miqueas respondió: «¡Vive Yahveh!, lo que Yahveh me diga, eso anunciaré».
15 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we go and attack Ramoth in Gilead, orshould we hold back?' He replied, 'Go ahead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	15 Llegó donde el rey y el rey le dijo: «Miqueas, ¿debemos subir a Ramot de Galaad para atacarla o debo desistir?» Le respondió: «Sube, tendrás éxito, Yahveh la entregará en manos del rey».
16 The king then said, 'How often must I put you on oath to tell me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	16 Pero el rey dijo: «¿Cuántas veces he de conjurarte a que no me digas más que la verdad en nombre de Yahveh?»
17 Then he spoke out: I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go safely home!'	17 Entonces él dijo: He visto todo Israel disperso por los montes como ovejas sin pastor. Yahveh ha dicho: «No tienen señor; que vuelvan en paz cada cual a su casa».
18 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	18 El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «¿No te dije que nunca me anuncia el bien sino el mal?»
19 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing by him, on his right and on his left.	19 Dijo Miqueas: «Escucha la palabra de Yahveh: He visto a Yahveh sentado en un trono y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba a su lado, a derecha e izquierda.
20 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab into marching to his death at Ramoth in Gilead?" At which someanswered one way, and some another.	20 Preguntó Yahveh: “¿Quién engañará a Ajab para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?” Y el uno decía una cosa y el otro otra.
21 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him."	21 Se adelantó el Espíritu, se puso ante Yahveh y dijo: “Yo le engañaré.” Yahveh le preguntó: “¿De qué modo?”
22 "How?" Yahweh asked. He replied, "I shal go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of al hisprophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	22 Respondió: “Iré y me haré espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos sus profetas.” Yahveh dijo: “Tú conseguirás engañarle. Vete y hazlo así.”
23 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of al your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	23 Ahora, pues, Yahveh ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos estos profetas tuyos, pues Yahveh ha predicho el mal contra ti».
24 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	24 Se acercó Sedecías, hijo de Kenaaná, y dio una bofetada a Miqueas en la mejilla diciendo: «¿Por qué camino se ha ido de mí el espíritu de Yahveh para hablarte a ti?»
25 'That is what you will find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	25 Miqueas replicó: «Tú mismo lo verás el día en que vayas escondiéndote de aposento en aposento».
26 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon, governor of the city, and Joash,the king's son,	26 El rey de Israel dijo: «Prende a Miqueas y llévaselo a Amón, gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, hijo del rey.
27 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	27 Y les dirás: Así habla el rey: Meted a éste en la carcel y racionadle el pan y el agua hasta que yo vuelva victorioso».
28 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	28 Dijo Miqueas: «Si es que vuelves victorioso, no ha hablado Yahveh por mí».
29 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth in Gilead.	29 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, subieron contra Ramot de Galaad.
30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shal disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.	30 El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo voy a disfrazarme para entrar en combate, mientras que tú te pondrás tus vestidos». El rey de Israel se disfrazó para entrar en combate.
31 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	31 Ahora bien, el rey de Aram había ordenado a los jefes de los carros: «No ataquéis ni a chicos ni a grandes, sino tan sólo al rey de Israel».
32 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is obviously the king ofIsrael,' and surrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry	32 Cuando los jefes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: «Seguro que es el rey de Israel». Y le rodearon para cargar sobre él. Pero Josafat gritó.
33 the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	33 Y viendo los jefes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel se apartaron de él.
34 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' said the king to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	34 Entonces un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las placas de la coraza, y el rey dijo a su auriga: «Da la vuelta y sácame de la batalla, porque me siento mal».
35 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on and the king had to be held upright in his chariot facingthe Aramaeans, the blood from the wound running into the bottom of the chariot, until in the evening he died.	35 Arreció aquel día la batalla y el rey fue sostenido en pie en su carro frente a los arameos, y a la tarde murió; la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.
36 At sundown a shout ran through the ranks, 'Every man back to his town, every man back to hiscountry!	36 A la caída del sol se corrió un grito por el campamento: «Cada uno a su ciudad, cada uno a su tierra.
37 The king is dead.' He was taken to Samaria and in Samaria the king was buried.	37 El rey ha muerto». Llegaron a Samaría y allí sepultaron al rey.
38 They washed the chariot at the Pool of Samaria; the dogs licked up the blood, and the prostituteswashed in it, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spoken.	38 Lavaron el carro con agua abundante junto a la alberca de Samaría y los perros lamían la sangre y las prostitutas se bañaron en ella, según la palabra que Yahveh había dicho.
39 The rest of the history of Ahab, his entire career, the ivory house he erected, al the towns he built, isthis not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	39 El resto de los hechos de Ajab, todo cuanto hizo, la casa de marfil que edificó, todas las ciudades que fortificó ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel?
40 When Ahab fel asleep with his ancestors, his son Ahaziah succeeded him.	40 Ajab se acostó con sus padres y reinó en su lugar su hijo Ocozías.
41 Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.	41 Josafat, hijo de Asá, comenzó a reinar en Judá el año cuarto de Ajab, rey de Israel.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-fiveyears in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.	42 Josafat tenía 35 años cuando comenzó a reinar y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Azubá, hija de Siljí.

45 Jehoshaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.	45 Josafat estuvo en paz con el rey de Israel.
