1 Kings 22

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 There was a lul of three years, with no fighting between Aram and Israel.	1 Durante tres años, no hubo guerra entre Aram e Israel.
2 Then, in the third year, Jehoshaphat king of Judah paid a visit to the king of Israel.	2 Al tercer año, Josafat, rey de Judá, bajó a visitar al rey de Israel.
3 The king of Israel said to his officers, 'You are aware that Ramoth in Gilead belongs to us? And yet wedo nothing to wrest it away from the king of Aram.'	3 Este dijo a sus servidores: «Ustedes saben bien que Ramot de Galaad nos pertenece. Sin embargo, nosotros no hacemos nada para quitársela al rey de Aram».
4 He said to Jehoshaphat, 'Wil you come with me to attack Ramoth in Gilead?' Jehoshaphat replied tothe king of Israel, 'I will be as you, my men as yours, my horses as yours.'	4 Luego preguntó a Josafat: «¿Irías conmigo a combatir a Ramot de Galaad?». Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: «Cuenta conmigo como contigo mismo, con mi gente como con la tuya, con mis caballos como con los tuyos».
5 Jehoshaphat, however, said to the king of Israel, 'First, please enquire what the word of Yahweh is.'	5 Pero añadió: «Consulta primero la palabra del Señor».
6 The king of Israel then cal ed the prophets together, about four hundred of them. 'Should I go andattack Ramoth in Gilead,' he asked, 'or should I hold back?' 'Go ahead,' they replied, 'for Yahweh has alreadygiven it to the king.'	6 El rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, unos cuatrocientos hombres, y les preguntó: «¿Puedo ir a combatir contra Ramot de Galaad, o debo desistir?». Ellos respondieron: «Sube, y el Señor la entregará en manos del rey».
7 Jehoshaphat, however, said, 'Is there no other prophet of Yahweh here, so that we can enquirethrough him?'	7 Pero Josafat insistió: «¿No queda por ahí algún profeta del Señor para consultar por medio de él?».
8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'There is one more man through whom we can consultYahweh, but I hate him because he never has a favourable prophecy for me, only unfavourable ones; he isMicaiah son of Imlah.' 'I hope the king's words are unjustified,' said Jehoshaphat.	8 El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Sí, queda todavía un hombre por cuyo intermedio se podría consultar al Señor. Pero yo lo detesto, porque no me vaticina nada bueno, sino sólo desgracias: es Miqueas, hijo de Imlá». «No hable el rey de esa manera», replicó Josafat.
9 The king of Israel then summoned a court official and said, 'Bring Micaiah son of Imlah immediately.'	9 Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un eunuco y ordenó: «Que venga en seguida Miqueas, hijo de Imlá».
10 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, wearing their robes,in an open space just outside the gate of Samaria, with al the prophets in a state of ecstasy before them.	10 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su trono, con sus vestiduras reales, sobre la explanada que está a la entrada de la puerta de Samaría, mientras todos los profetas vaticinaban delante de ellos.
11 Zedekiah son of Kenaanah, who had made himself some iron horns, said, 'Yahweh says, "With hornslike these you wil gore the Aramaeans til you make an end of them." '	11 Sedecías, hijo de Canaaná, se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro y decía: «Así habla el Señor: Con esto embestirás a Aram hasta acabar con él».
12 And all the prophets cried ecstatical y in the same vein, saying, 'March on Ramoth in Gilead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	12 Y todos los profetas vaticinaban en el mismo sentido, diciendo: «¡Sube a Ramot de Galaad y triunfarás! ¡El Señor la entregará en manos del rey!».
13 The messenger who had gone to summon Micaiah said to him, 'Look here, what the prophets aresaying is uniformly favourable to the king. I hope you wil say the same as they do and speak favourably.'	13 El mensajero que había ido a llamar a Miqueas le dijo: «Mira que las palabras de los profetas anuncian a una sola voz buena fortuna para el rey. Habla tú también como uno de ellos, y anuncia la victoria».
14 Micaiah said, 'As Yahweh lives, I shal speak as Yahweh tel s me!'	14 Pero Miqueas replicó: «¡Por la vida del Señor, sólo diré lo que el Señor me diga!».
15 When he came to the king, the king said, 'Micaiah, should we go and attack Ramoth in Gilead, orshould we hold back?' He replied, 'Go ahead! Success is sure, for Yahweh has already given it to the king!'	15 Cuando se presentó al rey, este le dijo: «Miqueas, ¿podemos ir a combatir contra Ramot de Galaad, o debemos desistir?». El le respondió: «Sube y triunfarás: el Señor la entregará en manos del rey».
16 The king then said, 'How often must I put you on oath to tell me nothing but the truth in the name ofYahweh?'	16 Pero el rey le dijo: «¿Cuántas veces tendré que conjurarte a que no me digas más que la verdad en nombre del Señor?».
17 Then he spoke out: I saw al Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep without a shepherd. AndYahweh said, 'These have no master, let them all go safely home!'	17 Miqueas dijo entonces: «He visto a todo Israel disperso por las montañas, como ovejas sin pastor, El Señor ha dicho: Estos ya no tienen dueño; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz».
18 At this the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'Did I not tell you that he never gives me favourableprophecies, but only unfavourable ones?'	18 El rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «¿No te había dicho que este no me vaticina el bien, sino sólo desgracias?».
19 Micaiah went on, 'Now listen to the word of Yahweh. I saw Yahweh seated on his throne with thewhole array of heaven standing by him, on his right and on his left.	19 Miqueas siguió diciendo: «Por eso, escucha la palabra del Señor: Yo vi al Señor sentado en su trono, y todo el Ejército de los cielos estaba de pie junto a él, a derecha e izquierda.
20 Yahweh said, "Who will entice Ahab into marching to his death at Ramoth in Gilead?" At which someanswered one way, and some another.	20 El Señor preguntó: «¿Quién seducirá a Ajab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad?». Ellos respondieron, uno de una manera y otro de otra.
21 A spirit then came forward and stood before Yahweh and said, "I wil entice him."	21 Entonces se adelantó el espíritu y, puesto de pie delante del Señor, dijo: «Yo lo seduciré». «¿Cómo?», preguntó el Señor.
22 "How?" Yahweh asked. He replied, "I shal go and be a deceptive spirit in the mouths of al hisprophets." Yahweh said, "You wil succeed in enticing him. Go and do it."	22 El respondió: «Iré y seré un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos los profetas». Entonces el Señor le dijo: «Tú lograrás seducirlo. Ve y obra sí».
23 And now, you see, Yahweh has put a deceptive spirit into the mouths of al your prophets here, for infact Yahweh has pronounced disaster on you.'	23 Ahora, el Señor ha puesto un espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos los profetas, porque él ha decretado tu ruina».
24 Zedekiah son of Chenaanah then came up, struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, 'Which way didYahweh's spirit leave me, to speak to you?'	24 Sedecías, hijo de Canaaná, se acercó a Miqueas y le dio una bofetada, diciendo: «¿Por dónde se me escapó el espíritu del Señor para hablarte de ti?».
25 'That is what you will find out,' Micaiah retorted, 'the day you go from room to room, trying to hide.'	25 Miqueas repuso: «Eso lo verás el día en que vayas de una habitación a otra para esconderte».
26 The king of Israel said, 'Seize Micaiah and hand him over to Amon, governor of the city, and Joash,the king's son,	26 Entonces el rey de Israel ordenó: «Toma a Miqueas y llévalo a Amón, el gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás, el hijo del rey. Tú les dirás:
27 and say, "These are the king's orders: Put this man in prison and feed him on nothing but bread andwater until I am safely home." '	27 Así habla el rey: Encierren a este hombre en la cárcel y ténganlo a pan y agua, hasta que yo regrese victorioso».
28 Micaiah said, 'If you ever do get home safely, Yahweh has not spoken through me.'	28 Miqueas replicó «Si tú regresas victorioso, quiere decir que el Señor no ha hablado por mi boca».
29 The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah marched on Ramoth in Gilead.	29 El rey de Israel y Josafat, rey de Judá, subieron a Ramot de Galaad.
30 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, 'I shal disguise myself to go into battle, but you put on yourrobes.' So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.	30 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: «Yo me voy a disfrazar para entrar en batalla, pero tú quédate con tus vestiduras». El rey de Israel se disfrazó y entró en combate.
31 Now, the king of Aram had given his chariot commanders the fol owing order, 'Do not attack anyoneof whatever rank, except the king of Israel.'	31 El rey de Aram, por su parte, había dado esta orden a los treinta y dos comandantes de sus carros de guerra: «No ataquen a nadie, ni pequeño ni grande, sino sólo al rey de Israel».
32 So, when the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, 'That is obviously the king ofIsrael,' and surrounded him to attack. But when Jehoshaphat shouted his war cry	32 Cuando los comandantes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: «Seguro que ese es el rey de Israel», y se volvieron hacia él para atacarlo. Josafat lanzó un grito,
33 the chariot commanders, realising that he was not the king of Israel, broke off their pursuit.	33 y los comandantes de los carros, al ver que ese no era el rey de Israel, dejaron de perseguirlo.
34 Someone, however, drawing his bow without any special aim, shot the king of Israel between thejoints of his armour. 'Turn about!' said the king to his charioteer. 'Get me out of the fighting; I am col apsing.'	34 Pero un hombre disparó su arco al azar e hirió al rey por entre las junturas de la coraza. El rey dijo al conductor de su carro: «Vuelve atrás y sácame del campo de batalla, porque estoy malherido».
35 But the battle grew fiercer as the day went on and the king had to be held upright in his chariot facingthe Aramaeans, the blood from the wound running into the bottom of the chariot, until in the evening he died.	35 Aquel día, el combate fue muy encarnizado. El rey debió ser sostenido de pie sobre el carro, frente a los arameos, y murió al atardecer. La sangre de su herida había chorreado hasta el fondo del carro.
36 At sundown a shout ran through the ranks, 'Every man back to his town, every man back to hiscountry!	36 A la puesta del sol, corrió un grito por el campo de batalla: «¡Cada uno a su ciudad! ¡Cada uno a su tierra!
37 The king is dead.' He was taken to Samaria and in Samaria the king was buried.	37 ¡El rey ha muerto!». Así entraron en Samaría y sepultaron allí al rey.
38 They washed the chariot at the Pool of Samaria; the dogs licked up the blood, and the prostituteswashed in it, in accordance with the word which Yahweh had spoken.	38 Y cuando lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaría, los perros lamieron su sangre y las prostitutas se bañaron en ella, conforme a la palabra que había dicho el Señor.
39 The rest of the history of Ahab, his entire career, the ivory house he erected, al the towns he built, isthis not recorded in the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Israel?	39 El resto de los hechos de Ajab y todo lo que él hizo, la casa de marfil que edificó y las ciudades que construyó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Israel?
40 When Ahab fel asleep with his ancestors, his son Ahaziah succeeded him.	40 Ajab se fue a descansar con sus padres, y su hijo Ocozías reinó en lugar de él.
41 Jehoshaphat son of Asa became king of Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.	41 Josafat, hijo de Asá, comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Ajab, rey de Israel.
42 Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he came to the throne, and he reigned for twenty-fiveyears in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Azubah daughter of Shilhi.	42 Tenía treinta y cinco años cuando inició su reinado, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Azubá, hija de Siljí.
43 In every way he followed the example of his father Asa undeviatingly, doing what is pleasing toYahweh.	43 Siguió en todo el camino de su padre Asá y no se apartó de él, haciendo lo que es recto a los ojos del Señor.
44 The high places, however, were not abolished; the people stil offered sacrifice and incense on thehigh places.	44 Sin embargo, no desaparecieron los lugares altos: el pueblo seguía ofreciendo los lugares altos: el pueblo seguía ofreciendo sacrificios y quemando incienso en los lugares altos.
45 Jehoshaphat was at peace with the king of Israel.	45 Josafat vivió en paz con el rey de Israel.
46 The rest of the history of Jehoshaphat, the valour he showed, the wars he waged, is this not recordedin the Book of the Annals of the Kings of Judah?	46 El resto de los hechos de Josafat, el valor que demostró y las guerras que hizo, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de los reyes de Judá?

49 Jehoshaphat built ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they never made the voyage since theships were wrecked at Ezion-Geber.	49 Josafat construyó una flota mercante, para ir a Ofir en busca de oro; pero no pudo ir, porque la flota naufragó en Esión Guéber.
50 Ahaziah son of Ahab then proposed to Jehoshaphat, 'Let my men go to sea with yours.' ButJehoshaphat would not agree.	50 Entonces Ocozías, hijo de Ajab, dijo a Josafat: «Que mis servidores vayan con los tuyos en las naves». Pero Josafat no aceptó.
51 When Jehoshaphat fel asleep with his ancestors he was buried in the City of his ancestor, David; hisson Jehoram succeeded him.	51 Josafat se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la Ciudad de David, su padre. Su hijo Joram reinó en lugar de él.
52 Ahaziah son of Ahab became king of Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king ofJudah, and reigned over Israel for two years.	52 Ocozías, hijo de Ajab, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel, en Samaría, el decimoséptimo año de Josafat, rey de Judá, y reinó dos años sobre Israel.
53 He did what is displeasing to Yahweh, by following the example of his father and mother, and ofJeroboam son of Nebat who had led Israel into sin.	53 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, y siguió el camino de su padre y de su madre, y el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, que hizo pecar a Israel.
