Genesis 7

NEW JERUSALEM	NOVA VULGATA
1 Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of yourcontemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.	1 Dixitque Dominus ad Noe: “Ingredere tu et omnis domus tua arcam; te enim vidi iustum coram me in generatione hac.
2 Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals youmust take one pair, a male and its female	2 Ex omnibus pecoribus mundis tolle septena septena, masculum et feminam; de pecoribus vero non mundis duo duo, masculum et feminam.
3 (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughoutthe earth.	3 Sed et de volatilibus caeli septena septena, masculum et feminam, ut salvetur semen super faciem universae terrae.
4 For in seven days' time I shal make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipeevery creature I have made off the face of the earth.'	4 Adhuc enim et post dies septem ego pluam super terram quadraginta diebus et quadraginta noctibus et delebo omnem substantiam, quam feci, de superficie terrae”.
5 Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.	5 Fecit ergo Noe omnia, quae mandaverat ei Dominus.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.	6 Eratque Noe sescentorum annorum, quando diluvii aquae inundaverunt super terram.
7 Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.	7 Et ingressus est Noe et filii eius, uxor eius et uxores filiorum eius cum eo in arcam propter aquas diluvii.
8 (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along theground,	8 De pecoribus mundis et immundis et de volucribus et ex omni, quod movetur super terram,
9 one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)	9 duo et duo ingressa sunt ad Noe in arcam, masculus et femina, sicut praeceperat Deus Noe.
10 Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.	10 Cumque transissent septem dies, aquae diluvii inundaverunt super terram.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of themonth, that very day al the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.	11 Anno sescentesimo vitae Noe, mense secundo, septimo decimo die mensis rupti sunt omnes fontes abyssi magnae, et cataractae caeli apertae sunt;
12 And heavy rain fel on earth for forty days and forty nights.	12 et facta est pluvia super terram quadraginta diebus et quadraginta noctibus.
13 That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and thethree wives of his sons,	13 In articulo diei illius ingressus est Noe et Sem et Cham et Iapheth filii eius, uxor illius et tres uxores filiorum eius cum eis in arcam.
14 and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping thingsthat creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.	14 Ipsi et omne animal secundum genus suum, universaque iumenta in genere suo, et omne reptile, quod movetur super terram in genere suo, cunctumque volatile secundum genus suum, universae aves omnesque volucres
15 One pair of al that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,	15 ingressae sunt ad Noe in arcam, bina et bina ex omni carne, in qua erat spiritus vitae.
16 and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commandedhim. Then Yahweh shut him in.	16 Et quae ingressa sunt, masculus et femina ex omni carne introierunt, sicut praeceperat ei Deus; et inclusit eum Dominus de foris.
17 The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.	17 Factumque est diluvium quadraginta diebus super terram, et multiplicatae sunt aquae et elevaverunt arcam in sublime a terra.
18 The waters rose, swel ing higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.	18 Vehementer enim inundaverunt et omnia repleverunt in superficie terrae; porro arca ferebatur super aquas.
19 The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until al the highest mountains under the wholeof heaven were submerged.	19 Et aquae praevaluerunt nimis super terram, opertique sunt omnes montes excelsi sub universo caelo.
20 The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.	20 Quindecim cubitis altior fuit aqua super montes, quos operuerat.
21 And al living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creaturesswarming over the earth, and all human beings.	21 Consumptaque est omnis caro, quae movebatur super terram, volucrum, pecorum, bestiarum omniumque reptilium, quae reptant super terram, et universi homines:
22 Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.	22 cuncta, in quibus spiraculum vitae in terra, mortua sunt.
23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds;they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.	23 Et delevit omnem substantiam, quae erat super terram, ab homine usque ad pecus, usque ad reptile et usque ad volucres caeli; et deleta sunt de terra. Remansit autem solus Noe et qui cum eo erant in arca.
24 The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.	24 Obtinueruntque aquae terram centum quinquaginta diebus.
