Genesis 7

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of yourcontemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.	1 Entonces el Señor dijo a Noé: «Entra en el arca, junto con toda tu familia, porque he visto que eres el único verdaderamente justo en medio de esta generación.
2 Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals youmust take one pair, a male and its female	2 Lleva siete parejas de todas las especies de animales puros y una pareja de los impuros, los machos con sus hembras
3 (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughoutthe earth.	3 –también siete parejas de todas las clases de pájaros– para perpetuar sus especies sobre la tierra.
4 For in seven days' time I shal make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipeevery creature I have made off the face of the earth.'	4 Porque dentro de siete días haré llover durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, y eliminaré de la superficie de la tierra a todos los seres que hice».
5 Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.	5 Y Noé cumplió la orden que Dios le dio.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.	6 Cuando las aguas del Diluvio se precipitaron sobre la tierra, Noé tenía seiscientos años.
7 Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.	7 Entonces entró en el arca con sus hijos, su mujer y las mujeres de sus hijos, para salvarse de las aguas del Diluvio.
8 (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along theground,	8 Y los animales puros, los impuros, los pájaros y todos los seres que se arrastran por el suelo,
9 one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)	9 entraron por parejas con él en el arca, como Dios se los había mandado.
10 Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.	10 A los siete días, las aguas del Diluvio cayeron sobre la tierra.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of themonth, that very day al the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.	11 Noé tenía seiscientos años, y era el decimoséptimo día del segundo mes. Ese día, desbordaron las fuentes del gran océano y se abrieron las cataratas del cielo.
12 And heavy rain fel on earth for forty days and forty nights.	12 Y una fuerte lluvia cayó sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.
13 That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and thethree wives of his sons,	13 Ese mismo día, habían entrado en el arca Noé, sus hijos, Sem, Cam y Jafet, su mujer y las tres mujeres de sus hijos;
14 and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping thingsthat creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.	14 y junto con ellos, los animales de todas las especies: las fieras, el ganado, los reptiles, los pájaros y todos los demás animales con alas.
15 One pair of al that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,	15 Todas las clases de seres que están animados por un aliento de vida entraron con Noé en el arca; y lo hicieron por parejas,
16 and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commandedhim. Then Yahweh shut him in.	16 machos y hembras, como Dios se lo había ordenado. Entonces el Señor cerró el arca detrás de Noé.
17 The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.	17 El Diluvio se precipitó sobre la tierra durante cuarenta días. A medida que las aguas iban creciendo, llevaban el arca hacia arriba, y esta se elevó por encima de la tierra.
18 The waters rose, swel ing higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.	18 Las aguas subían de nivel y crecían desmesuradamente sobre la tierra, mientras el arca flotaba en la superficie.
19 The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until al the highest mountains under the wholeof heaven were submerged.	19 Así continuaron subiendo cada vez más, hasta que en todas partes quedaron sumergidas las montañas, incluso las más elevadas.
20 The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.	20 El nivel de las aguas subió más de siete metros por encima de las montañas.
21 And al living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creaturesswarming over the earth, and all human beings.	21 Entonces perecieron todos los seres que se movían sobre la tierra: los pájaros, el ganado, las fieras, todos los animales que se arrastran por el suelo, y también los hombres.
22 Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.	22 Murió todo lo que tenía un aliento de vida en sus narices, todo lo que estaba sobre el suelo firme.
23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds;they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.	23 Así fueron eliminados todos los seres que había en la tierra, desde el hombre hasta el ganado. los reptiles y los pájaros del cielo. Sólo quedó Noé y los que estaban con él en el arca.
24 The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.	24 Y las aguas inundaron la tierra por espacio de ciento cincuenta días.
