Genesis 7

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of yourcontemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.	1 Yahvé dit à Noé: "Entre dans l'arche, toi et toute ta famille, car je t'ai vu seul juste à mes yeux parmicette génération.
2 Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals youmust take one pair, a male and its female	2 De tous les animaux purs, tu prendras sept paires, le mâle et sa femelle; des animaux qui ne sont paspurs, tu prendras un couple, le mâle et sa femelle
3 (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughoutthe earth.	3 (et aussi des oiseaux du ciel, sept paires, le mâle et sa femelle), pour perpétuer la race sur toute laterre.
4 For in seven days' time I shal make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipeevery creature I have made off the face of the earth.'	4 Car encore sept jours et je ferai pleuvoir sur la terre pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits et j'effacerai de lasurface du sol tous les êtres que j'ai faits."
5 Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.	5 Noé fit tout ce que Yahvé lui avait commandé.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.	6 Noé avait 600 ans quand arriva le déluge, les eaux sur la terre.
7 Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.	7 Noé -- avec ses fils, sa femme et les femmes de ses fils -- entra dans l'arche pour échapper aux eauxdu déluge.
8 (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along theground,	8 (Des animaux purs et des animaux qui ne sont pas purs, des oiseaux et de tout ce qui rampe sur lesol,
9 one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)
10 Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.	10 Au bout de sept jours, les eaux du déluge vinrent sur la terre.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of themonth, that very day al the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.	11 En l'an 600 de la vie de Noé, le second mois, le dix-septième jour du mois, ce jour-là jaillirenttoutes les sources du grand abîme et les écluses du ciel s'ouvrirent.
12 And heavy rain fel on earth for forty days and forty nights.	12 La pluie tomba sur la terre pendant 40 jours et 40 nuits.
13 That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and thethree wives of his sons,	13 Ce jour même, Noé et ses fils, Sem, Cham et Japhet, avec la femme de Noé et les trois femmes deses fils, entrèrent dans l'arche,
14 and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping thingsthat creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.	14 et avec eux les bêtes sauvages de toute espèce, les bestiaux de toute espèce, les bestioles de touteespèce qui rampent sur la terre, les volatiles de toute espèce, tous les oiseaux, tout ce qui a des ailes.
15 One pair of al that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,	15 Auprès de Noé, entra dans l'arche un couple de tout ce qui est chair, ayant souffle de vie,
16 and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commandedhim. Then Yahweh shut him in.	16 et ceux qui entrèrent étaient un mâle et une femelle de tout ce qui est chair, comme Dieu le lui avaitcommandé. Et Yahvé ferma la porte sur Noé.
17 The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.	17 Il y eut le déluge pendant 40 jours sur la terre; les eaux grossirent et soulevèrent l'arche, qui futélevée au-dessus de la terre.
18 The waters rose, swel ing higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.	18 Les eaux montèrent et grossirent beaucoup sur la terre et l'arche s'en alla à la surface des eaux.
19 The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until al the highest mountains under the wholeof heaven were submerged.	19 Les eaux montèrent de plus en plus sur la terre et toutes les plus hautes montagnes qui sont soustout le ciel furent couvertes.
20 The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.	20 Les eaux montèrent quinze coudées plus haut, recouvrant les montagnes.
21 And al living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creaturesswarming over the earth, and all human beings.	21 Alors périt toute chair qui se meut sur la terre: oiseaux, bestiaux, bêtes sauvages, tout ce quigrouille sur la terre, et tous les hommes.
22 Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.	22 Tout ce qui avait une haleine de vie dans les narines, c'est-à-dire tout ce qui était sur la terre ferme,mourut.
23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds;they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.	23 Ainsi disparurent tous les êtres qui étaient à la surface du sol, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bêtes, auxbestioles et aux oiseaux du ciel: ils furent effacés de la terre et il ne resta que Noé et ce qui était avec lui dansl'arche.
24 The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.	24 La crue des eaux sur la terre dura 150 jours.
