Genesis 7

1 Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of yourcontemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.	1 ויאמר יהוה לנח בא אתה וכל ביתך אל התבה כי אתך ראיתי צדיק לפני בדור הזה
2 Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals youmust take one pair, a male and its female	2 מכל הבהמה הטהורה תקח לך שבעה שבעה איש ואשתו ומן הבהמה אשר לא טהרה הוא שנים איש ואשתו
3 (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughoutthe earth.	3 גם מעוף השמים שבעה שבעה זכר ונקבה לחיות זרע על פני כל הארץ
4 For in seven days' time I shal make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipeevery creature I have made off the face of the earth.'	4 כי לימים עוד שבעה אנכי ממטיר על הארץ ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה ומחיתי את כל היקום אשר עשיתי מעל פני האדמה
5 Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.	5 ויעש נח ככל אשר צוהו יהוה
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.	6 ונח בן שש מאות שנה והמבול היה מים על הארץ
7 Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.	7 ויבא נח ובניו ואשתו ונשי בניו אתו אל התבה מפני מי המבול
8 (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along theground,	8 מן הבהמה הטהורה ומן הבהמה אשר איננה טהרה ומן העוף וכל אשר רמש על האדמה
9 one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)	9 שנים שנים באו אל נח אל התבה זכר ונקבה כאשר צוה אלהים את נח
10 Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.	10 ויהי לשבעת הימים ומי המבול היו על הארץ
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of themonth, that very day al the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.	11 בשנת שש מאות שנה לחיי נח בחדש השני בשבעה עשר יום לחדש ביום הזה נבקעו כל מעינת תהום רבה וארבת השמים נפתחו
12 And heavy rain fel on earth for forty days and forty nights.	12 ויהי הגשם על הארץ ארבעים יום וארבעים לילה
13 That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and thethree wives of his sons,	13 בעצם היום הזה בא נח ושם וחם ויפת בני נח ואשת נח ושלשת נשי בניו אתם אל התבה
14 and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping thingsthat creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.	14 המה וכל החיה למינה וכל הבהמה למינה וכל הרמש הרמש על הארץ למינהו וכל העוף למינהו כל צפור כל כנף
15 One pair of al that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,	15 ויבאו אל נח אל התבה שנים שנים מכל הבשר אשר בו רוח חיים
16 and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commandedhim. Then Yahweh shut him in.	16 והבאים זכר ונקבה מכל בשר באו כאשר צוה אתו אלהים ויסגר יהוה בעדו
17 The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.	17 ויהי המבול ארבעים יום על הארץ וירבו המים וישאו את התבה ותרם מעל הארץ
18 The waters rose, swel ing higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.	18 ויגברו המים וירבו מאד על הארץ ותלך התבה על פני המים
19 The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until al the highest mountains under the wholeof heaven were submerged.	19 והמים גברו מאד מאד על הארץ ויכסו כל ההרים הגבהים אשר תחת כל השמים
20 The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.	20 חמש עשרה אמה מלמעלה גברו המים ויכסו ההרים
21 And al living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creaturesswarming over the earth, and all human beings.	21 ויגוע כל בשר הרמש על הארץ בעוף ובבהמה ובחיה ובכל השרץ השרץ על הארץ וכל האדם
22 Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.	22 כל אשר נשמת רוח חיים באפיו מכל אשר בחרבה מתו
23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds;they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.	23 וימח את כל היקום אשר על פני האדמה מאדם עד בהמה עד רמש ועד עוף השמים וימחו מן הארץ וישאר אך נח ואשר אתו בתבה
24 The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.	24 ויגברו המים על הארץ חמשים ומאת יום
