NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 Yahweh treated Sarah as he had said, and did what he had promised her.	1 Der Herr nahm sich Saras an, wie er gesagt hatte, und er tat Sara so, wie er versprochen hatte.
2 Sarah conceived and bore Abraham a son in his old age, at the time God had promised.	2 Sara wurde schwanger und gebar dem Abraham noch in seinem Alter einen Sohn zu der Zeit, die Gott angegeben hatte.
3 Abraham named the son born to him Isaac, the son to whom Sarah had given birth.	3 Abraham nannte den Sohn, den ihm Sara gebar, Isaak.
4 Abraham circumcised his son Isaac when he was eight days old, as God had commanded him.	4 Als sein Sohn Isaak acht Tage alt war, beschnitt ihn Abraham, wie Gott ihm befohlen hatte.
5 Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him.	5 Abraham war hundert Jahre alt, als sein Sohn Isaak zur Welt kam.
6 Sarah said: God has given me cause to laugh! Al who hear about this wil laugh with me!	6 Sara aber sagte: Gott ließ mich lachen; jeder, der davon hört, wird mit mir lachen.
7 She added: Whoever would have told Abraham that Sarah would nurse children! Yet I have borne ason in his old age.	7 Wer, sagte sie, hätte Abraham zu sagen gewagt, Sara werde noch Kinder stillen? Und nun habe ich ihm noch in seinem Alter einen Sohn geboren.
8 The child grew and was weaned, and Abraham gave a great banquet on the day Isaac was weaned.	8 Das Kind wuchs heran und wurde entwöhnt. Als Isaak entwöhnt wurde, veranstaltete Abraham ein großes Festmahl.
9 Now Sarah watched the son that Hagar the Egyptian had borne to Abraham, playing with her sonIsaac.	9 Eines Tages beobachtete Sara, wie der Sohn, den die Ägypterin Hagar Abraham geboren hatte, umhertollte.
10 'Drive away that slave-girl and her son,' she said to Abraham, 'this slave-girl's son is not to share theinheritance with my son Isaac.'	10 Da sagte sie zu Abraham: Verstoß diese Magd und ihren Sohn! Denn der Sohn dieser Magd soll nicht zusammen mit meinem Sohn Isaak Erbe sein.
11 This greatly distressed Abraham, because the slave-girl's child too was his son,	11 Dieses Wort verdross Abraham sehr, denn es ging doch um seinen Sohn.
12 but God said to him, 'Do not distress yourself on account of the boy and your slave-girl. Do whateverSarah says, for Isaac is the one through whom your name wil be carried on.	12 Gott sprach aber zu Abraham: Sei wegen des Knaben und deiner Magd nicht verdrossen! Hör auf alles, was dir Sara sagt! Denn nach Isaak sollen deine Nachkommen benannt werden.
13 But the slave-girl's son I shal also make into a great nation, for he too is your child.'	13 Aber auch den Sohn der Magd will ich zu einem großen Volk machen, weil auch er dein Nachkomme ist.
14 Early next morning, Abraham took some bread and a skin of water and, giving them to Hagar, putthe child on her shoulder and sent her away. She wandered off into the desert of Beersheba.	14 Am Morgen stand Abraham auf, nahm Brot und einen Schlauch mit Wasser, übergab beides Hagar, legte es ihr auf die Schulter, übergab ihr das Kind und entließ sie. Sie zog fort und irrte in der Wüste von Beerscheba umher.
15 When the skin of water was finished she abandoned the child under a bush.	15 Als das Wasser im Schlauch zu Ende war, warf sie das Kind unter einen Strauch,
16 Then she went and sat down at a distance, about a bowshot away, thinking, 'I cannot bear to see thechild die.' Sitting at a distance, she began to sob.	16 ging weg und setzte sich in der Nähe hin, etwa einen Bogenschuss weit entfernt; denn sie sagte: Ich kann nicht mit ansehen, wie das Kind stirbt. Sie saß in der Nähe und weinte laut.
17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven. 'What is wrong,Hagar?' he asked. 'Do not be afraid, for God has heard the boy's cry in his plight.	17 Gott hörte den Knaben schreien; da rief der Engel Gottes vom Himmel her Hagar zu und sprach: Was hast du, Hagar? Fürchte dich nicht, Gott hat den Knaben dort schreien gehört, wo er liegt.
18 Go and pick the boy up and hold him safe, for I shal make him into a great nation.'	18 Steh auf, nimm den Knaben und halt ihn fest an deiner Hand; denn zu einem großen Volk will ich ihn machen.
19 Then God opened Hagar's eyes and she saw a well, so she went and fil ed the skin with water andgave the boy a drink.	19 Gott öffnete ihr die Augen und sie erblickte einen Brunnen. Sie ging hin, füllte den Schlauch mit Wasser und gab dem Knaben zu trinken.
20 God was with the boy. He grew up and made his home in the desert, and he became an archer.	20 Gott war mit dem Knaben. Er wuchs heran, ließ sich in der Wüste nieder und wurde ein Bogenschütze.
21 He made his home in the desert of Paran, and his mother got him a wife from Egypt.	21 Er ließ sich in der Wüste Paran nieder und seine Mutter nahm ihm eine Frau aus Ägypten.
22 About then, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, said to Abraham, 'Since God is withyou in everything you do,	22 Um jene Zeit sagten Abimelech und sein Feldherr Pichol zu Abraham: Gott ist mit dir bei allem, was du unternimmst.
23 swear to me by God, here and now, that you wil not act treacherously towards me or my kith andkin, but behave with the same faithful love to me and the land of which you are a guest as I have behaved toyou.'	23 Aber nun schwör mir hier bei Gott, dass du weder mich noch meinen Thronerben noch meine Nachfahren hintergehen wirst. Das gleiche Wohlwollen, das ich dir erwiesen habe, sollst du mir erweisen und dem Land, in dem du dich als Fremder aufhältst.
24 'Yes,' Abraham replied, 'I swear it.'	24 Abraham erwiderte: Gut, ich will den Eid leisten.
25 Abraham then reproached Abimelech about a well that Abimelech's servants had seized.	25 Abraham stellte aber Abimelech zur Rede wegen des Brunnens, den ihm Abimelechs Knechte weggenommen hatten.
26 'I do not know who has done this,' Abimelech said. 'You yourself have never mentioned it to me and,for myself, I heard nothing of it til today.'	26 Abimelech antwortete: Ich weiß nicht, wer das getan hat. Du hast es mir noch nicht gemeldet und auch ich habe erst heute davon gehört.
27 Abraham then took sheep and cattle and presented them to Abimelech, and the two of them made acovenant.	27 Da nahm Abraham Schafe und Rinder und gab sie Abimelech; so schlossen beide einen Vertrag.
28 Abraham put seven lambs of the flock on one side.	28 Abraham stellte aber sieben Lämmer der Herde beiseite.
29 'Why have you put these seven lambs on one side?' Abimelech asked Abraham.	29 Da fragte ihn Abimelech: Was sollen die sieben Lämmer da, die du beiseite gestellt hast?
30 He replied, 'You must accept these seven lambs from me as evidence that I have dug this wel .'	30 Die sieben Lämmer, sagte er, sollst du von mir annehmen als Beweis dafür, dass ich diesen Brunnen gegraben habe.
31 This was why the place was cal ed Beersheba: because there the two of them swore an oath.	31 Darum nannte er den Ort Beerscheba (Siebenbrunn oder Eidbrunn); denn dort leisteten beide einen Eid.
32 After they had made a covenant at Beersheba, Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army,left and went back to Philistine territory.	32 Sie schlossen also zu Beerscheba einen Vertrag. Dann machten sich Abimelech und sein Feldherr Pichol auf und kehrten ins Philisterland zurück.
33 And Abraham planted a tamarisk at Beersheba and there he invoked the name of Yahweh.	33 Abraham aber pflanzte eine Tamariske in Beerscheba und rief dort den Herrn an unter dem Namen: Gott, der Ewige.
34 Abraham stayed for a long while in Philistine territory.	34 Darauf hielt sich Abraham längere Zeit als Fremder im Philisterland auf.
