Genesis 13

NEW JERUSALEM	KÁLDI-NEOVULGÁTA
1 From Egypt Abram returned to the Negeb with his wife and al he possessed, and Lot with him.	1 Felment tehát Egyiptomból a Negebbe Ábrám, a felesége és mindene, amije volt, és vele Lót is.
2 Abram was very rich in livestock, silver and gold.	2 Ábrám igen gazdag volt jószágban, aranyban és ezüstben.
3 By stages he went from the Negeb to Bethel, where he had first pitched his tent, between Bethel andAi,	3 Aztán visszament – ugyanazon az úton, amelyen lement – a Negebből Bételbe, egészen addig a helyig, ahol azelőtt a sátrát felütötte, Bétel és Ái közé,
4 at the place where he had formerly erected the altar. There Abram invoked the name of Yahweh.	4 annak az oltárnak a helyéig, amelyet korábban épített, és ott segítségül hívta az Úr nevét.
5 Lot, who was travelling with Abram, had flocks and cattle of his own, and tents too.	5 Lótnak azonban, aki Ábrámmal volt, szintén voltak juhnyájai, marhacsordái és sátrai.
6 The land was not sufficient to accommodate them both at once, for they had too many possessions tobe able to live together.	6 Így az a föld nem bírta el, hogy együtt lakjanak. Olyan sok jószáguk volt ugyanis, hogy nem lakhattak együtt.
7 Dispute broke out between the herdsmen of Abram's livestock and those of Lot. (The Canaanites andPerizzites were living in the country at the time.)	7 Ebből aztán veszekedés támadt Ábrám és Lót nyájainak pásztorai között. – Abban az időben még kánaániak és periziták laktak azon a földön. –
8 Accordingly Abram said to Lot, 'We do not want discord between us or between my herdsmen andyours, for we are kinsmen.	8 Ábrám azt mondta tehát Lótnak: »Kérlek, ne legyen veszekedés közöttem és közötted, pásztoraim és pásztoraid között, hiszen testvérek vagyunk!
9 Is not the whole land open before you? Go in the opposite direction to me: if you take the left, I shalgo right; if you take the right, I shal go left.'	9 Itt van előtted ez az egész föld: válj el tőlem, kérlek! Ha te mégy balra, akkor én jobbra tartok, ha te jobbra akarsz, akkor én balra megyek!«
10 Looking round, Lot saw all the Jordan plain, irrigated everywhere -- this was before Yahwehdestroyed Sodom and Gomorrah-like the garden of Yahweh or the land of Egypt, as far as Zoar.	10 Felemelte tehát Lót a szemét, és látta, hogy az egész Jordán-környék, mindaddig, amíg Coárba jut az ember – ekkor még nem pusztította el az Úr Szodomát és Gomorrát –, mindenütt olyan bővizű, mint az Úr paradicsoma, és mint Egyiptom.
11 So Lot chose all the Jordan plain for himself and moved off eastwards. Thus they parted company:	11 Lót ezért a Jordán-környékét választotta magának, és keletre tért; így elváltak egymástól a testvérek.
12 Abram settled in the land of Canaan; Lot settled among the cities of the plain, pitching his tents onthe outskirts of Sodom.	12 Ábrám Kánaán földjén maradt, Lót pedig a Jordán-környék városaiban telepedett meg, és Szodomában lakott.
13 Now the people of Sodom were vicious and great sinners against Yahweh.	13 A szodomai emberek azonban nagyon gonoszak és igen bűnösök voltak az Úr előtt.
14 Yahweh said to Abram after Lot had parted company from him, 'Look al round from where you are,to north and south, to east and west,	14 Az Úr azt mondta Ábrámnak, miután Lót elvált tőle: »Emeld fel szemedet, és arról a helyről, ahol most vagy, tekints északra és délre, keletre és nyugatra!
15 for al the land within sight I shal give to you and your descendants for ever.	15 Ezt az egész földet, amelyet látsz, neked és utódaidnak fogom adni örökre.
16 I shal make your descendants like the dust on the ground; when people succeed in counting thespecks of dust on the ground, then they wil be able to count your descendants too!	16 Olyanná teszem utódodat, mint amilyen a föld pora: ha van ember, aki meg tudja számlálni a föld porszemeit, utódodat is meg tudja majd számlálni.
17 On your feet! Travel the length and breadth of the country, for I mean to give it to you.'	17 Kelj fel, és járd be ezt a földet széltében-hosszában, mert neked fogom adni!«
18 So Abram moved his tent and went to settle at the Oak of Mamre, at Hebron, and there he built analtar to Yahweh.	18 Felszedte tehát Ábrám a sátrát, elment, és letelepedett Mamre Tölgye mellett, amely Hebronban van, s ott oltárt épített az Úrnak.
