Hebrews 3

NEW AMERICAN BIBLEKING JAMES BIBLE
Therefore, holy "brothers," sharing in a heavenly calling, reflect on Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession,1 Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;
who was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was "faithful in (all) his house."2 Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.
But he is worthy of more "glory" than Moses, as the founder of a house has more "honor" than the house itself.3 For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.
Every house is founded by someone, but the founder of all is God.4 For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.
Moses was "faithful in all his house" as a "servant" to testify to what would be spoken,5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
but Christ was faithful as a son placed over his house. We are his house, if (only) we hold fast to our confidence and pride in our hope.6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.
Therefore, as the holy Spirit says: "Oh, that today you would hear his voice,7 Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,
'Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion in the day of testing in the desert,8 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
where your ancestors tested and tried me and saw my works9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.
for forty years. Because of this I was provoked with that generation and I said, "They have always been of erring heart, and they do not know my ways."10 Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
As I swore in my wrath, "They shall not enter into my rest."'"11 So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
Take care, brothers, that none of you may have an evil and unfaithful heart, so as to forsake the living God.12 Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.
Encourage yourselves daily while it is still "today," so that none of you may grow hardened by the deceit of sin.13 But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
We have become partners of Christ if only we hold the beginning of the reality firm until the end,14 For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;
for it is said: "Oh, that today you would hear his voice: 'Harden not your hearts as at the rebellion.'"15 While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
Who were those who rebelled when they heard? Was it not all those who came out of Egypt under Moses?16 For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.
With whom was he "provoked for forty years"? Was it not those who had sinned, whose corpses fell in the desert?17 But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?
And to whom did he "swear that they should not enter into his rest," if not to those who were disobedient?18 And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?
And we see that they could not enter for lack of faith.19 So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.
