1 the LORD said to Moses and Eleazar; son of Aaron the priest,	1 el Señor dijo a Moisés y a Eleazar, hijo del sacerdote Aarón:
2 "Take a census, by ancestral houses, throughout the community of the Israelites of all those of twenty years or more who are fit for military service in Israel."	2 «Hagan un censo de toda la comunidad de israelitas, anotando por familias a todos los que tengan más de veinte años, a los aptos para la guerra en Israel».
3 So on the plains of Moab along the Jericho stretch of the Jordan, Moses and the priest Eleazar registered	3 Entonces Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar dieron las instrucciones correspondientes, en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó,
4 those of twenty years or more, as the LORD had commanded Moses. The Israelites who came out of the land of Egypt were as follows:	4 acerca de los tenían más de veinte años, como el Señor se lo había ordenado a Moisés. Los israelitas que salieron de Egipto fueron:

7 These were the clans of the Reubenites, of whom forty-three thousand seven hundred and thirty men were registered.	7 Estos eran los clanes de los rubenitas, según el censo: 43.730 hombres.
8 From Pallu descended Eliab,	8 El hijo de Palú fue Eliab.
9 and the descendants of Eliab were Dathan and Abiram-the same Dathan and Abiram, councilors of the community, who revolted against Moses and Aaron (like Korah's band when it rebelled against the LORD).	9 Los hijos de Eliab fueron Nemuel, Datán y Abirón. Datán y Abirón –representantes de la comunidad– son los mismos que se amotinaron contra Moisés y Aarón, junto con los secuaces de Coré, cuando se produjo el amotinamiento contra el Señor.
10 The earth opened its mouth and swallowed them as a warning (Korah too and the band that died when the fire consumed two hundred and fifty men.	10 Después de lo cual la tierra abrió sus fauces y los devoró junto con Coré, cuando murió aquel grupo y el fuego devoró a los doscientos cincuenta hombres, para que sirvieran de escarmiento.
11 The descendents of Korah, however, did not die out).	11 Los hijos de Coré, sin embargo, no murieron.
12 The Simeonites by clans were: through Nemuel the clan of the Nemuelites, through Jamin the clan of the Jaminites, through Jachin the clan of the Jachinites,	12 Los clanes de los descendientes de Simeón fueron: de Nemuel, el clan de los nemuelitas; de Iamín, el clan de los iaminitas; de Iaquín, el clan de los iaquinitas;

19 The sons of Judah who died in the land of Canaan were Er and Onan.	19 Los hijos de Judá fueron Er y Onán. Er y Onán murieron en la tierra de Canaán.
20 The Judahites by clans were: through Shelah the clan of the Shelahites, through Perez the clan of the Perezites, through Zerah the clan of the Zerahites.	20 Los clanes de los descendientes de Judá fueron: de Selá, el clan de los selaítas; de Péres, el clan de los peresitas; de Séraj, el clan de los serajitas.
21 The Perezites were: through Hezron the clan of the Hezronites, through Hamul the clan of the Hamulites.	21 Los descendientes de Péres fueron: de Jesrón, el clan de los jesronitas; de Jamul, el clan de los jamulitas.
22 These were the clans of Judah, of whom seventy-six thousand five hundred men were registered.	22 Estos eran los descendientes de Judá, según el censo: 76.500 hombres.
23 The Issacharites by clans were: through Tola the clan of the Tolaites, through Puvah the clan of the Puvahites,	23 Los clanes de los hijos de Isacar fueron: de Tolá, el clan de los tolaítas; de Puá, el clan de los puaítas;
24 through Jashub the clan of the Jashubites, through Shimron the clan of the Shimronites.	24 de Iasub, el clan de los iasubitas; de Simrón, el clan de los simronitas.
25 These were the clans of Issachar, of whom sixty-four thousand three hundred men were registered.	25 Estos eran los clanes de Isacar, según el censo: 64.300 hombres.
26 The Zebulunites by clans were: through Sered the clan of the Seredites, through Elon the clan of the Elonites, through Jahleel the clan of the Jahleelites.	26 Los clanes de los descendientes de Zabulón fueron: de Séred, el clan de los sereditas; de Elón, el clan de los elonitas; de Iajlel, el clan de los iajlelitas.
27 These were the clans of the Zebulunites, of whom sixty thousand five hundred men were registered.	27 Estos eran los clanes de los zabulonitas, según el censo: 60.500 hombres.
28 The sons of Joseph were Manasseh and Ephraim.	28 Los descendientes de José fueron Manasés y Efraím con sus clanes.
29 The Manassehites by clans were: through Machir the clan of the Machirites, through Gilead, a descendant of Machir, the clan of the Gileadites.	29 Los descendientes de Manasés fueron: de Maquir, el clan de los maquiritas –Maquir fue padre de Galaad–. De Galaad, el clan de los galaaditas.
30 The Gileadites were: through Abiezer the clan of the Abiezrites, through Helek the clan of the Helekites,	30 Los descendientes de Galaad fueron: de Iézer, el clan de los iezeritas; de Jélec, el clan de los jelequitas;
31 through Asriel the clan of the Asrielites, through Shechem the clan of the Shechemites,	31 de Asriel, el clan de los asrielitas; de Sequém, el clan de los sequemitas;
32 through Shemida the clan of the Shemidaites, through Hepher the clan of the Hepherites.	32 de Semidá, el clan de los semidaítas; de Jéfer, el clan de los jeferitas.
33 Zelophehad, son of Hepher, had no sons, but only daughters, whose names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.	33 Selofjad, hijo de Jéfer, no tuvo hijos, sino solamente hijas.
34 These were the clans of Manasseh, of whom fifty-two thousand seven hundred men were registered.	34 Los nombres de estas fueron Majlá, Noá, Joglá, Milcá y Tirsá. Estos eran los clanes de Manasés, según el censo: 52.700 hombres.
35 The Ephraimites by clans were: through Shuthelah the clan of the Shuthelahites, through Becher the clan of the Bechrites, through Tahan the clan of the Tahanites.	35 Los clanes de los descendientes de Efraím fueron los siguientes: de Sutélaj, el clan de los sutelajitas; de Béquer, el clan de los bequeritas; de Taján, el clan de los tajanitas.
36 The Shuthelahites were: through Eran the clan of the Eranites.	36 Los descendientes de Sutélaj fueron los siguientes: de Erán, el clan de los eranitas.
37 These were the clans of the Ephraimites, of whom thirty-two thousand five hundred men were registered. These were the descendants of Joseph by clans.	37 Estos eran los clanes de Efraím, según el censo: 32.500 hombres. Todos estos eran los clanes de los hijos de José.
38 The Benjaminites by clans were: through Bela the clan of the Belaites, through Ashbel the clan of the Ashbelites, through Ahiram the clan of the Ahiramites,	38 Los clanes de los descendientes de Benjamín fueron los siguientes: de Belá, el clan de los belaítas; de Asbel, el clan de los asbelitas; de Ajiram, el clan de los ajiramitas;
39 through Shupham the clan of the Shuphamites, through Hupham the clan of the Huphamites.	39 de Sufam el clan de los sufamitas; de Jufam, el clan de los jufamitas.
40 The descendants of Bela were Arad and Naaman: through Arad the clan of the Aradites, through Naaman the clan of the Naamanites.	40 Los hijos de Belá fueron Ard y Naamán, De Ard, el clan de los arditas; de Naamán, el clan de los naamanitas.
41 These were the Benjaminites by clans, of whom forty-five thousand six hundred men were registered.	41 Estos eran los clanes de los descendientes de Benjamín, según el censo: 45.600 hombres.
42 The Danites by clans were: through Shuham the clan of the Shuhamites. These were the clans of Dan,	42 Los clanes de los descendientes de Dan fueron los siguientes: de Sujam, el clan de los sujamitas. Estos eran los clanes de los descendientes de Dan.
43 of whom sixty-four thousand four hundred men were registered.	43 Todos los clanes de los sujamitas, según el censo, comprendían 64.400 hombres.
44 The Asherites by clans were: through Imnah the clan of the Imnites, through Ishvi the clan of the Ishvites, through Beriah the clan of the Beriites,	44 Los clanes de los descendientes de Aser fueron: de Imná, el clan de los imnanitas; de Isví, el clan de los isvitas; de Beriá, el clan de los beriaítas.
45 through Heber the clan of the Heberites, through Malchiel the clan of the Malchielites.	45 De los descendientes de Beriá: de Jéber, el clan de los jeberitas; de Malquiel, el clan de los malquielitas.
46 The name of Asher's daughter was Serah.	46 La hija de Aser se llamaba Séraj.
47 These were the clans of Asher, of whom fifty-three thousand four hundred men were registered.	47 Estos eran los clanes de Aser, según el censo: 53.400 hombres.
48 The Naphtalites by clans were: through Jahzeel the clan of the Jahzeelites, through Guni the clan of the Gunites,	48 Los clanes de los descendientes de Neftalí fueron: de Iajsel, el clan de los iajselitas; de Guní, el clan de los gunitas;

50 These were the clans of Naphtali, of whom forty-five thousand four hundred men were registered.	50 Estos eran los clanes de Neftalí, según el censo: 45.400 hombres.
51 These six hundred and one thousand seven hundred and thirty were the Israelites who were registered.	51 Los israelitas registrados en el censo eran en total 601.730 hombres.
52 The LORD said to Moses,	52 El Señor dijo a Moisés:
53 "Among these groups the land shall be divided as their heritage in keeping with the number of individuals in each group.	53 Entre estos grupos se repartirá el territorio, conforme al número de las personas:
54 To a large group you shall assign a large heritage, to a small group a small heritage, each group receiving its heritage in proportion to the number of men registered in it.	54 a los grupos más numerosos les darás una herencia mayor, y a los más reducidos, una herencia menor. Cada uno recibirá su parte según el número de las personas registradas.
55 But the land shall be divided by lot, as the heritage of the various ancestral tribes.	55 Además, la tierra se repartirá mediante un sorteo, y la distribución se hará teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de miembros de cada tribu paterna.
56 As the lot falls shall each group, large or small, be assigned its heritage."	56 La herencia se repartirá mediante un sorteo, tanto entre los grupos más numerosos como entre los menos numerosos.
57 The Levites registered by clans were: through Gershon the clan of the Gershonites, through Kohath the clan of the Kohathites, through Merari the clan of the Merarites.	57 Este es el censo de los clanes de los levitas: De Gersón, el clan de los gersonitas; de Quehat, el clan de los quehatitas; de Merarí, el clan de los meraritas.
58 These also were clans of Levi: the clan of the Libnites, the clan of the Hebronites, the clan of the Mahlites, the clan of the Mushites, the clan of the Korahites. Among the descendants of Kohath was Amram,	58 Estos son los clanes de Leví: el clan de los libnitas, el clan de los jebronitas, el clan de los majlitas, el clan de los musitas y el clan de los coreítas. Quehat fue padre de Amram.
59 whose wife was named Jochebed. She also was of the tribe of Levi, born to the tribe in Egypt. To Amram she bore Aaron and Moses and their sister Miriam.	59 La esposa de Amram se llamaba Ioquébed, hija de Leví, la cual nació en Egipto. Los hijos que ella dio a Amram fueron Aarón, Moisés y Miriam, la hermana de estos.
60 To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.	60 A Aarón le nacieron Nadab, Abihú, Eleazar e Itamar.
61 But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered profane fire before the LORD.	61 Pero Nadab y Abihú murieron al ofrecer un fuego profano delante del Señor.
62 The total number of male Levites one month or more of age, who were registered, was twenty-three thousand. They were not registered with the other Israelites, however, for no heritage was given them among the Israelites.	62 En el censo se registró un total de 23.000 levitas varones, mayores de un mes. Ellos no figuraron en el censo de los demás israelitas, porque no se les había asignado una propiedad hereditaria entre los israelitas.
63 These, then, were the men registered by Moses and the priest Eleazar in the census of the Israelites taken on the plains of Moab along the Jericho stretch of the Jordan.	63 Estas son las personas registradas por Moisés y el sacerdote Eleazar, cuando hicieron el censo de los israelitas en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó.
64 Among them there was not a man of those who had been registered by Moses and the priest Aaron in the census of the Israelites taken in the desert of Sinai.	64 Entre estos no figuró ninguno de los que Moisés y el sacerdote Aarón habían registrado en el desierto del Sinaí.
65 For the LORD had told them that they would surely die in the desert, and not one of them was left except Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and Joshua, son of Nun.	65 Porque el Señor había dicho acerca de ellos: «Morirán en el desierto». Ninguno de ellos sobrevivió, excepto Caleb, hijo de Iefuné, y Josué, hijo de Nun.
