Jeremiah 47

1 This is the word that came from the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza:	1 Was als Wort des Herrn an den Propheten Jeremias erging wider die Philister, bevor der Pharao Gaza schlug.
2 Thus says the LORD: Behold: waters are rising from the north, a torrent in flood; It shall flood the land and all that is in it, the cities and their people. All the people of the land set up a wailing cry.	2 So spricht der Herr: "Siehe, Wasser dringen vom Norden heran und werden zum reißenden Bach; sie überfluten das Land und was darin ist, die Städte samt ihren Bewohnern." Da schreien die Menschen und heulen alle Bewohner des Landes,
3 They hear the stamping hooves of his steeds, the rattling chariots, the rumbling wheels. Fathers turn not to save their children; their hands fall helpless	3 weil laut die Hufe seiner Hengste stampfen, seine Kriegswagen dröhnen, seine Räder rasseln. Väter kehren sich nicht nach den Söhnen um, denn ihre Hände sind schlaff vor Schreck
4 Because of the day which has come to ruin all the Philistines, And cut off from Tyre and Sidon the last of their allies. Yes, the LORD is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.	4 wegen des Tages, der kommt, um alle Philister zu vernichten und jeden zu vertilgen, der als Helfer für Tyrus und Sidon entkam. Ja, es vernichtet der Herr die Philister, den Rest von der Insel Kaphtor.
5 Gaza is shaved bald, Ashkelon is reduced to silence; Ashdod, the remnant of their strength, how long will you gash yourself?	5 Kahlgeschoren ist Gaza, Askalon ist verstummt. Du Rest der Enakiter, wie lange noch mußt du dir Trauermale ritzen?
6 Alas, sword of the LORD! how long till you find rest? Return into your scabbard; stop, be still!	6 Wehe, du Schwert des Herrn, wie lange willst du nicht rasten? Kehre in deine Scheide zurück, halte ein und sei ruhig!
7 How can it find rest when the LORD has commanded it? Against Ashkelon and the seashore he has appointed it.	7 Wie sollte es ruhen, da der Herr es entbot? Wider Askalon und die Küste des Meeres entsandte er es.
