Jeremiah 47

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 This is the word that came from the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza:	1 Palabra del Señor, concerniente a los filisteos, que llegó al profeta Jeremías antes que el Faraón derrotara a Gaza.
2 Thus says the LORD: Behold: waters are rising from the north, a torrent in flood; It shall flood the land and all that is in it, the cities and their people. All the people of the land set up a wailing cry.	2 Así habla el Señor: ¡Miren! Las aguas suben desde el Norte, se convierten en un torrente desbordado; inundan la tierra y lo que ella contiene, la ciudad y sus habitantes. Gritan los hombres, lanzan gemidos todos los habitantes del país.
3 They hear the stamping hooves of his steeds, the rattling chariots, the rumbling wheels. Porque el Señor arrasa a los filisteos, al resto de la isla de Caftor.
5 Gaza is shaved bald, Ashkelon is reduced to silence; Ashdod, the remnant of their strength, how long will you gash yourself?	5 Gaza se rapó la cabeza, Ascalón está perdida. Asdod, resto de los anaquitas, ¿Hasta cuándo te harás incisiones?
6 Alas, sword of the LORD! how long till you find rest? Return into your scabbard; stop, be still!	6 ¡Ah, espada del Señor! ¿Hasta cuándo no descansarás? ¡Vuelve a tu vaina, quédate tranquila y cálmate!
7 How can it find rest when the LORD has commanded it? Against Ashkelon and the seashore he has appointed it.	7 ¿Cómo puede descansar, cuando el Señor le da una orden? Hacia Ascalón y hacia la costa del mar, hacia allí le ha dado cita.
