1 This is the word that came from the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza:	1 Eis a palavra do Senhor, dirigida ao profeta Jeremias acerca dos filisteus, antes que o faraó se apoderasse de Gaza.
2 Thus says the LORD: Behold: waters are rising from the north, a torrent in flood; It shall flood the land and all that is in it, the cities and their people. All the people of the land set up a wailing cry.	2 Assim fala o Senhor: Vede as águas que se levantam do norte, semelhantes a uma torrente que transborda, submergindo a terra e o quanto ela contém, a cidade e seus habitantes. Lançam gritos os homens e clama a população inteira,
3 They hear the stamping hooves of his steeds, the rattling chariots, the rumbling wheels. Fathers turn not to save their children; their hands fall helpless	3 ao estrépito das patas dos corcéis, do estrondo dos carros e do ranger das rodas.
