1 This is the word that came from the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza:	1 - Parola di Dio che fu comunicata a Geremia profeta contro ai Filistei, prima che Faraone desse l'assalto a Gaza.
2 Thus says the LORD: Behold: waters are rising from the north, a torrent in flood; It shall flood the land and all that is in it, the cities and their people. All the people of the land set up a wailing cry.	2 «Così dice il Signore: - Ecco delle ondate che salgono fuori dal settentrione, e diventeranno un torrente che straripa, e sommergeranno la terra in tutta la sua estensione, colle città, coi suoi abitanti: gli uomini grideranno, e urleranno tutti gli abitanti della terra,
3 They hear the stamping hooves of his steeds, the rattling chariots, the rumbling wheels. Yes, the LORD is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.	4 perchè è giunto il giorno in cui saran devastati tutti i Filistei, e sarà abbattuta Tiro e Sidone con tutto il resto dei loro ausiliari; perchè il Signore ha messo a soqquadro i Filistei, residuo dell'isola di Cappadocia.
5 Gaza is shaved bald, Ashkelon is reduced to silence; Ashdod, the remnant of their strength, how long will you gash yourself?	5 È diventata la testa calva a Gaza, Ascalona ammutolita tace e gli ultimi residui delle loro vallate; e a che pro scarnificarti?
6 Alas, sword of the LORD! how long till you find rest? Return into your scabbard; stop, be still!	6 O brando del Signore, fin quando ancora non ti quieterai? Rientra nel fodero, calmati e taci.
7 How can it find rest when the LORD has commanded it? Against Ashkelon and the seashore he has appointed it.	7 E come si quieterà, se il Signore gli ha intimato di andare contro Ascalona e contro le sue marittime contrade ed è là che gli ha data la consegna?».
