Jeremiah 47

1 This is the word that came from the LORD to the prophet Jeremiah concerning the Philistines, before Pharaoh attacked Gaza:	1 La parola di Jahvè che fu rivolta al profeta Geremia sui Filistei, prima che il Faraone avesse occupato Gaza.
2 Thus says the LORD: Behold: waters are rising from the north, a torrent in flood; It shall flood the land and all that is in it, the cities and their people. All the people of the land set up a wailing cry.	2 Così dice Jahvè: «Ecco, le acque salgono dal nord e diventano un torrente che allaga. Allagano la terra e quanto è in essa, la città e i suoi abitanti. Gli uomini gridano, si lamentano tutti gli abitanti della terra.
3 They hear the stamping hooves of his steeds, the rattling chariots, the rumbling wheels. Fathers turn not to save their children; their hands fall helpless	3 Al rumore dello scalpitar dei suoi potenti destrieri, al fragor dei suoi carri, al cigolio delle sue ruote, i padri non si voltano verso i figli per la fiacchezza delle loro mani;
4 Because of the day which has come to ruin all the Philistines, And cut off from Tyre and Sidon the last of their allies. Yes, the LORD is destroying the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.	4 perché è arrivato il giorno di devastare tutti i Filistei, di distruggere per Tiro e Sidone quanti restano ad aiutarle; Jahvè, infatti, distrugge i Filistei, il resto dell’isola di Chaftor.
5 Gaza is shaved bald, Ashkelon is reduced to silence; Ashdod, the remnant of their strength, how long will you gash yourself?	5 La calvizie è sopraggiunta a Gaza, è distrutta Ascalon. Ashdod, resto degli Anakim, fino a quando ti farai incisioni?
