1 Happy the husband of a good wife, twice-lengthened are his days;	1 Felice chi è marito di una moglie buona, sarà doppio il numero dei suoi giorni.
2 A worthy wife brings joy to her husband, peaceful and full is his life.	2 Una donna virile è la gioia del marito, riempie i suoi anni di pace.
3 A good wife is a generous gift bestowed upon him who fears the LORD;	3 Una buona moglie è una vera fortuna che tocca a chi teme il Signore;
4 Be he rich or poor, his heart is content, and a smile is ever on his face.	4 egli, ricco o povero che sia, sarà felice, avrà sempre la faccia contenta.
5 There are three things at which my heart quakes, a fourth before which I quail: Though false charges in public, trial before all the people, and lying testimony are harder to bear than death,	5 Di tre cose ha paura il mio cuore e nella quarta temo d'imbattermi: calunnia nella città, raduno di folla, accusa falsa, cose più dure della morte;
6 A jealous wife is heartache and mourning and a scourging tongue like the other three.	6 ma è dolore di lutto la donna gelosa d'una donna; la sferza della sua lingua colpisce tutti.
7 A bad wife is a chafing yoke; he who marries her seizes a scorpion.	7 La moglie cattiva è un giogo che sfrega il collo, chi la possiede è come chi afferra uno scorpione.
8 A drunken wife arouses great anger, for she does not hide her shame.	8 La donna ubriaca provoca sdegno, non può celare la sua degradazione.
9 By her eyelids and her haughty stare an unchaste wife can be recognized.	9 La donna sensuale ha gli occhi sfacciati, la si riconosce dalle palpebre.
10 Keep a strict watch over an unruly wife, lest, finding an opportunity, she make use of it;	10 Vigila severo sulla figlia testarda, se trova debolezza ne approfitta.
11 Follow close if her eyes are bold, and be not surprised if she betrays you:	11 Bada alla donna dall'occhio impudente, nessuna meraviglia se sbaglia con te.
12 As a thirsty traveler with eager mouth drinks from any water that he finds, So she settles down before every tent peg and opens her quiver for every arrow.	12 Come viandante assetato essa apre la bocca per bere ad ogni fonte che si trova vicino, si siede davanti ad ogni palo, ed apre la faretra davanti alla freccia.
13 A gracious wife delights her husband, her thoughtfulness puts flesh on his bones;	13 La grazia della donna rallegra il marito, il suo senno gli rimpolpa le ossa.
14 A gift from the LORD is her governed speech, and her firm virtue is of surpassing worth.	14 E' dono del Signore la donna silenziosa, non c'è prezzo per un carattere disciplinato.
15 Choicest of blessings is a modest wife, priceless her chaste person.	15 La donna pudica ha bellezza su bellezza, non c'è peso per la donna continente.
16 Like the sun rising in the LORD'S heavens, the beauty of a virtuous wife is the radiance of her home.	16 Come sole che sorge nel cielo del Signore la bellezza di una buona moglie adorna la casa.
17 Like the light which shines above the holy lampstand, are her beauty of face and graceful figure.	17 Lucerna che brilla sul sacro candelabro è un bel volto su solido corpo.
18 Golden columns on silver bases are her shapely limbs and steady feet.	18 Colonne d'oro su base d'argento son le belle gambe sui talloni armoniosi.
19 These two bring grief to my heart, and the third arouses my horror: A wealthy man reduced to want; illustrious men held in contempt; And the man who passes from justice to sin, for whom the LORD makes ready the sword.	19 Per due cose il mio cuore si rattrista, per una terza mi viene l'ira: un soldato che langue in miseria, uomini saggi che sono disprezzati, chi dalla giustizia passa al peccato: il Signore lo prepara per la spada.
20 A merchant can hardly remain upright, nor a shopkeeper free from sin;	20 E' difficile che il mercante sia esente da colpa, il bottegaio non sarà indenne dal peccato.
