1 Happy the husband of a good wife, twice-lengthened are his days;	1 - Beato il marito della donna dabbene, perchè sarà raddoppiato il numero de' suoi anni.
2 A worthy wife brings joy to her husband, peaceful and full is his life.	2 La donna forte rallegra suo marito, e gli fa compiere in pace gli anni di sua vita.
3 A good wife is a generous gift bestowed upon him who fears the LORD;	3 Buon capitale una donna per bene: sarà assegnata a quei che temono il Signore, all'uomo per le sue buone opere.
4 Be he rich or poor, his heart is content, and a smile is ever on his face.	4 Del ricco e del povero è contento [allora] il cuore, e lieta in ogni tempo la loro faccia.
5 There are three things at which my heart quakes, a fourth before which I quail: Though false charges in public, trial before all the people, and lying testimony are harder to bear than death,	5 Di tre cose ha timore il cuor mio, e della quarta ha paura la mia faccia:
6 A jealous wife is heartache and mourning and a scourging tongue like the other three.	6 la mormorazione della città e la radunata del popolo
7 A bad wife is a chafing yoke; he who marries her seizes a scorpion.	7 e la falsa calunnia, cose tutte più odiose della morte;
8 A drunken wife arouses great anger, for she does not hide her shame.	8 ambascia di cuore e cordoglio è una donna gelosa,
9 By her eyelids and her haughty stare an unchaste wife can be recognized.	9 [poiché c'è] nella donna gelosa il flagello della lingua che a tutti racconta [i suoi presunti guai].
10 Keep a strict watch over an unruly wife, lest, finding an opportunity, she make use of it;	10 Come un paio di buoi agitati è una donna malvagia: chi l'ha, è come chi piglia uno scorpione.
11 Follow close if her eyes are bold, and be not surprised if she betrays you:	11 Una donna ubriacone è una gran passione, e la vergogna e l'onta sua non sarà coperta.
12 As a thirsty traveler with eager mouth drinks from any water that he finds, So she settles down before every tent peg and opens her quiver for every arrow.	12 L'impudicizia d'una donna dalla sfrontatezza degli occhi e dalle sue palpebre si riconosce.
13 A gracious wife delights her husband, her thoughtfulness puts flesh on his bones;	13 Sopra una figliuola che non conosce ritrosia rafferma la vigilanza, perchè, trovata l'occasione, non abusi di sè.
14 A gift from the LORD is her governed speech, and her firm virtue is of surpassing worth.	14 Sta in guardia contro ogni imprudenza de' suoi occhi, e non ti meravigliare se non si dà pensiero di te.
15 Choicest of blessings is a modest wife, priceless her chaste person.	15 Come il viandante assetato apre la bocca alla fonte, e beve d'ogni acqua che gli è vicina, [cosi l'impudica] si sederà contro ogni palo, e ad ogni freccia aprirà la faretra finché venga meno,
16 Like the sun rising in the LORD'S heavens, the beauty of a virtuous wife is the radiance of her home.	16 La grazia d'una donna operosa allieta il marito, e le ossa ne impingua
17 Like the light which shines above the holy lampstand, are her beauty of face and graceful figure.	17 la sua abilità. Un dono di Dio è
18 Golden columns on silver bases are her shapely limbs and steady feet.	18 la donna sensata e silenziosa: e non c'è nulla che valga una persona ben educata.
19 These two bring grief to my heart, and the third arouses my horror: A wealthy man reduced to want; illustrious men held in contempt; And the man who passes from justice to sin, for whom the LORD makes ready the sword.	19 Grazia su grazia è una donna santa e pudica,
20 A merchant can hardly remain upright, nor a shopkeeper free from sin;	20 e non c'è peso che bilanci un'anima casta.
	21 Come il sole che si leva per il mondo nell'empireo del Signore, così [rifulge] la bellezza d'una donna ad ornamento della sua [casa].
	22 La lucerna risplende sul santo candelabro, e l'avvenenza del volto su salda statura.
	23 [Come] colonne d'oro su basi d'argento, così posano i piedi sulle piante di solida donna.
	24 Eterne son le fondamenta su solida pietra, e i comandamenti di Dio nel cuore d'una santa donna.
	25 Di due cose s'attrista il mio cuore, e per una terza mi viene sdegno:
	26 il guerriero privo del necessario per miseria, e l'uomo d'ingegno disprezzato,
	27 e chi dalla giustizia torna al peccato: costui il Signore lo serba alla spada.
	28 Due professioni mi sembrano difficili e pericolose: difficilmente il negoziante si libera da trasgressioni, e l'oste non sarà immune da' peccati di labbra.
