1 Boast not of tomorrow, for you know not what any day may bring forth.	1 Non ti lodare per domani, perché non sai che partorisce l'oggi.
2 Let another praise you--not your own mouth; Someone else--not your own lips.	2 Ti lodi un altro, ma non la tua bocca, un estraneo, non le tue labbra!
3 Stone is heavy, and sand a burden, but a fool's provocation is heavier than both.	3 Cosa grave è la pietra e un peso la sabbia, ma l'ira dello stolto pesa più di tutt'e due.
4 Anger is relentless, and wrath overwhelming-- but before jealousy who can stand?	4 Il furore è crudele e l'ira è impetuosa: ma chi può sopportar la gelosia?
5 Better is an open rebuke than a love that remains hidden.	5 Meglio una correzione aperta che un amore nascosto.

9 Perfume and incense gladden the heart, but by grief the soul is torn asunder.	9 L'olio e il profumo rallegrano il cuore e la dolcezza di un amico consola l'anima.
10 Your own friend and your father's friend forsake not; but if ruin befalls you, enter not a kinsman's house. Better is a neighbor near at hand than a brother far away.	10 Non abbandonare il tuo amico e l'amico di tuo padre e non entrare in casa di tuo fratello nel giorno della tua tristezza. E' meglio un amico vicino che un fratello lontano.
11 If you are wise, my son, you will gladden my heart, and I will be able to rebut him who tuants me.	11 Sii saggio, figlio mio, e rallegra il mio cuore, sicché possa rispondere a chi mi oltraggia.
12 The shrewd man perceives evil and hides; simpletons continue on and suffer the penalty.	12 Il prudente vede la sventura e si nasconde; i semplici ci passan vicino e ne pagano il fio.
13 Take his garment who becomes surety for another, and for the sake of a stranger, yield it up!	13 Prendi la sua veste! L'ha impegnata per uno straniero! Per degli sconosciuti: tienla in pegno!
14 When one greets his neighbor with a loud voice in the early morning, a curse can be laid to his charge.	14 Chi benedice il suo prossimo ad alta voce fin dall'alba, gli verrà contato come maledizione.
15 For a persistent leak on a rainy day the match is a quarrelsome woman.	15 Goccia continua in giorno di pioggia e donna litigiosa si assomigliano.
16 He who keeps her stores up a stormwind; he cannot tell north from south.	16 Chi vuol calmarla, vuol far tacere il vento e raccogliere l'olio con la destra.
17 As iron sharpens iron, so man sharpens his fellow man.	17 Il ferro col ferro si lima e l'uomo affina le maniere del suo prossimo.
18 He who tends a fig tree eats its fruit, and he who is attentive to his master will be enriched.	18 Chi ha cura del suo fico ne mangia i frutti; chi veglia sul suo padrone sarà onorato.
19 As one face differs from another, so does one human heart from another.	19 Come l'acqua rimanda il volto al volto, così il cuore rivela l'uomo all'uomo.

23 Take good care of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;	23 Guarda bene allo stato del tuo gregge, fai attenzione agli armenti:
24 For wealth lasts not forever, nor even a crown from age to age.	24 perché la ricchezza non è eterna e un diadema non dura all'infinito.
25 When the grass is taken away and the aftergrowth appears, and the mountain greens are gathered in,	25 Spunta l'erba, appare il germe e si raccoglie il foraggio sopra i monti.
26 The lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats will bring the price of a field,	26 Ci siano agnelli per vestirti e montoni come prezzo di un campo,
27 And there will be ample goat's milk to supply you, to supply your household, and maintenance for your maidens.	27 abbondanza di latte delle capre come cibo per la tua casa e per la vita delle tue ancelle.
