1 Wisdom builds her house, but Folly tears hers down with her own hands.	1 La sapienza costruisce la sua casa, la stoltezza con le proprie mani la distrugge.
2 He who walks uprightly fears the LORD, but he who is devious in his ways spurns him.	2 Chi cammina nella sua rettitudine ha il timor di Dio, chi perverte la sua strada lo disprezza.
3 In the mouth of the fool is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise preserve them.	3 Nella bocca dello stolto c'è un germoglio di superbia, le labbra dei saggi li custodiscono.
4 Where there are no oxen, the crib remains empty; but large crops come through the strength of the bull.	4 Se non ci sono buoi la greppia è vuota, nella forza del giovenco c'è abbondanza di prodotti.
5 A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness utters lies.	5 Un testimonio verace non mentisce, un falso testimonio esala falsità.
6 The senseless man seeks in vain for wisdom, but knowledge is easy to the man of intelligence.	6 Cerca la sapienza l'insolente, ma invano, per l'intelligente, la sapienza è cosa facile.
7 To avoid the foolish man, take steps! But knowing lips one meets with by surprise.	7 Guarda di star lontano dall'insipiente, perché non vi troverai labbra sapienti.
8 The shrewd man's wisdom gives him knowledge of his way, but the folly of fools is their deception.	8 Chi è prudente studia bene la sua strada, ma la follia degli stolti è sbandamento.
9 Guilt lodges in the tents of the arrogant, but favor in the house of the just.	9 Nelle tende degli insolenti c'è il castigo, nelle case dei giusti c'è la grazia.
10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and in its joy no one else shares.	10 Conosce il cuore la sua propria amarezza e alla sua gioia non s'associa l'estraneo.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.	11 La casa degli empi sarà abbattuta, la tenda dei giusti fiorirà.
12 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death!	12 Una strada agli occhi dell'uomo par diritta, all'altra estremità però c'è un trabocchetto.
13 Even in laughter the heart may be sad, and the end of joy may be sorrow.	13 Perfino nel riso il cuore si rattrista e la gioia stessa finisce nell'afflizione.
14 The scoundrel suffers the consequences of his ways, and the good man reaps the fruit of his paths.	14 Delle sue vie si sazia il traviato, ma l'uomo buono delle sue azioni.
15 The simpleton believes everything, but the shrewd man measures his steps.	15 L'ingenuo crede ad ogni parola, chi è prudente veglia sui suoi passi.
16 The wise man is cautious and shuns evil; the fool is reckless and sure of himself.	16 Il saggio teme e sfugge il male, lo stolto va avanti e sta tranquillo.
17 The quick-tempered man makes a fool of himself, but the prudent man is at peace.	17 Chi è pronto all'ira commette ogni stoltezza e l'uomo tenebroso attira l'odio.
18 The adornment of simpletons is folly, but shrewd men gain the crown of knowledge.	18 Gli ingenui hanno in sorte la stoltezza, gli accorti invece si adornano di scienza.
19 Evil men must bow down before the good, and the wicked, at the gates of the just.	19 I cattivi si inchineranno ai buoni e gli empi davanti alle porte dei giusti.
20 Even by his neighbor the poor man is hated, but the friends of the rich are many.	20 Il povero è odiato anche dal suo simile, ma gli amici del ricco sono molti.
21 He sins who despises the hungry; but happy is he who is kind to the poor!	21 Chi disprezza il suo prossimo fa peccato, ma chi ha pietà dei miseri è beato.
22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those intent on good gain kindness and constancy.	22 Non traviano forse gli artefici del male? Benevolenza e fedeltà a chi fa il bene.
23 In all labor there is profit, but mere talk tends only to penury.	23 In ogni fatica c'è guadagno, solo la parola delle labbra porta all'indigenza.
24 The crown of the wise is resourcefulness; the diadem of fools is folly.	24 Corona dei saggi è la loro ricchezza, diadema degli stolti è la stoltezza.
25 The truthful witness saves lives, but he who utters lies is a betrayer.	25 Un testimonio veritiero salva molti, chi dice menzogne è una rovina.
26 In the fear of the LORD is a strong defense; even for one's children he will be a refuge.	26 Nel timore del Signore c'è un sicuro rifugio e per i suoi figli egli è riparo.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that a man may avoid the snares of death.	27 Il timore del Signore è sorgente di vita per sfuggire ai lacci della morte.
28 In many subjects lies the glory of the king; but if his people are few, it is the prince's ruin.	28 L'onore del re sta nella moltitudine del popolo, carenza di popolo è rovina del principe.
29 The patient man shows much good sense, but the quick-tempered man displays folly at its height.	29 Chi è lento alla collera ha molta intelligenza, chi è facile a infiammarsi mostra stoltezza.
30 A tranquil mind gives life to the body, but jealousy rots the bones.	30 Vita dei corpi è un cuore benigno, l'invidia è tarlo delle ossa.
31 He who oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy glorifies him.	31 Chi opprime il povero disonora il suo Creatore, lo glorifica chi ha pietà dell'umile.
32 The wicked man is overthrown by his wickedness, but the just man finds a refuge in his honesty.	32 Dalla sua malizia è rovinato l'empio, ma pur nella sua morte il giusto è fiducioso.
33 In the heart of the intelligent wisdom abides, but in the bosom of fools it is unknown.	33 Nel cuore intelligente risiede la sapienza, ma non si conoscerà nel seno degli stolti.
34 Virtue exalts a nation, but sin is a people's disgrace.	34 La giustizia innalza una nazione, vergogna per i popoli è il peccato.
35 The king favors the intelligent servant, but the worthless one incurs his wrath.	35 Il re si compiace d'un servo intelligente, la sua collera è per chi lo disonora.
