Proverbs 14

1 Wisdom builds her house, but Folly tears hers down with her own hands.	1 La sabiduría edifica una casa, pero la necedad la destruye con sus propias manos.
2 He who walks uprightly fears the LORD, but he who is devious in his ways spurns him.	2 El que camina con rectitud teme al Señor, el que va por caminos tortuosos lo desprecia.
3 In the mouth of the fool is a rod for his back, but the lips of the wise preserve them.	3 De la boca del necio brota el orgullo, los labios de los sabios son su defensa.
4 Where there are no oxen, the crib remains empty; but large crops come through the strength of the bull.	4 Donde no hay bueyes, el establo está limpio, pero la fuerza de un toro da mucha ganancia.
5 A truthful witness does not lie, but a false witness utters lies.	5 Un testigo veraz no engaña, pero el testigo falso profiere mentiras.
6 The senseless man seeks in vain for wisdom, but knowledge is easy to the man of intelligence.	6 El insolente busca sabiduría y no la encuentra, pero la ciencia es fácil para el inteligente.
7 To avoid the foolish man, take steps! But knowing lips one meets with by surprise.	7 Aléjate de la presencia de un necio: no hallarás ciencia en sus labios.
8 The shrewd man's wisdom gives him knowledge of his way, but the folly of fools is their deception.	8 La sabiduría del prudente es saber discernir su camino, la insensatez de los necios es puro engaño.
9 Guilt lodges in the tents of the arrogant, but favor in the house of the just.	9 El necio se burla de los sacrificios expiatorios, pero entre los hombres rectos se encuentra el favor de Dios.
10 The heart knows its own bitterness, and in its joy no one else shares.	10 El corazón conoce su propia amargura y ningún extraño se asocia a su alegría.
11 The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.	11 La casa de los malvados será destruida, pero la carpa de los rectos florecerá.
12 Sometimes a way seems right to a man, but the end of it leads to death!	12 Hay caminos que parecen rectos, pero al final son caminos de muerte.
13 Even in laughter the heart may be sad, and the end of joy may be sorrow.	13 También entre risas, sufre el corazón, y al fin la alegría termina en pesar.
14 The scoundrel suffers the consequences of his ways, and the good man reaps the fruit of his paths.	14 El descarriado se sacia con los frutos de su conducta, y el hombre de bien con sus acciones.
15 The simpleton believes everything, but the shrewd man measures his steps.	15 El incauto cree todo lo que le dicen, pero el prudente vigila sus pasos.
16 The wise man is cautious and shuns evil; the fool is reckless and sure of himself.	16 El sabio teme el mal y se aparta de él, el necio es temerario y se siente seguro.
17 The quick-tempered man makes a fool of himself, but the prudent man is at peace.	17 El iracundo comete locuras, el hombre reflexivo sabe aguantar.
18 The adornment of simpletons is folly, but shrewd men gain the crown of knowledge.	18 La herencia de los incautos es la necedad, la corona de los prudentes es la ciencia.
19 Evil men must bow down before the good, and the wicked, at the gates of the just.	19 Los malos se doblegarán ante los buenos, y los malvados, a las puertas del justo.
20 Even by his neighbor the poor man is hated, but the friends of the rich are many.	20 El pobre resulta odioso aun para su vecino, pero el rico tiene muchos amigos.
21 He sins who despises the hungry; but happy is he who is kind to the poor!	21 El que desprecia a su prójimo peca, pero ¡feliz el que se apiada de los humildes!
22 Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those intent on good gain kindness and constancy.	22 ¿No viven extraviados los que traman el mal? Pero hay amor y fidelidad para los que se dedican al bien.
23 In all labor there is profit, but mere talk tends only to penury.	23 Toda fatiga trae algún provecho, pero la charlatanería sólo aporta indigencia.
24 The crown of the wise is resourcefulness; the diadem of fools is folly.	24 La corona de los sabios es la prudencia, la diadema de los necios, la insensatez.
25 The truthful witness saves lives, but he who utters lies is a betrayer.	25 Un testigo veraz salva las vidas, el que profiere mentiras es un impostor.
26 In the fear of the LORD is a strong defense; even for one's children he will be a refuge.	26 El temor del Señor es un refugio seguro, que sirve de defensa para los hijos.
27 The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, that a man may avoid the snares of death.	27 El temor del Señor es fuente de vida, que aparta de los lazos de la muerte.
28 In many subjects lies the glory of the king; but if his people are few, it is the prince's ruin.	28 Un pueblo numeroso es la gloria del rey, la falta de súbditos es la ruina del soberano.
29 The patient man shows much good sense, but the quick-tempered man displays folly at its height.	29 El que tarda en enojarse muestra gran inteligencia, el iracundo pone de manifiesto su necedad.
30 A tranquil mind gives life to the body, but jealousy rots the bones.	30 Un corazón apacible es la vida del cuerpo, pero la envidia corroe los huesos.
31 He who oppresses the poor blasphemes his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy glorifies him.	31 El que oprime al débil ultraja a su Creador, el que se apiada del indigente, lo honra.
32 The wicked man is overthrown by his wickedness, but the just man finds a refuge in his honesty.	32 El malvado es arrasado por su propia malicia, el justo encuentra un refugio en su integridad.
33 In the heart of the intelligent wisdom abides, but in the bosom of fools it is unknown.	33 En el corazón inteligente reposa la sabiduría, pero entre los necios no se la conoce.
34 Virtue exalts a nation, but sin is a people's disgrace.	34 La justicia exalta a una nación, pero el pecado es la vergüenza de los pueblos.
35 The king favors the intelligent servant, but the worthless one incurs his wrath.	35 El favor del rey es para el servidor prudente y su furor, para el desvergonzado.
