For the leader; "upon the gittith." A psalm of David.1 Unto the end, for the presses: a psalm of David.
O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth! You have set your majesty above the heavens!2 O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in the whole earth! For thy magnificence is elevated above the heavens.
Out of the mouths of babes and infants you have drawn a defense against your foes, to silence enemy and avenger.3 Out of the mouth of infants and of sucklings thou hast perfected praise, because of thy enemies, that thou mayst destroy the enemy and the avenger.
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and stars that you set in place--4 For I will behold thy heavens, the works of thy fingers: the moon and the stars which thou hast founded.
What are humans that you are mindful of them, mere mortals that you care for them?5 What is man that thou art mindful of him? or the son of man that thou visitest hi?
Yet you have made them little less than a god, crowned them with glory and honor.6 Thou hast made him a little less than the angels, thou hast crowned him with glory and honour:
You have given them rule over the works of your hands, put all things at their feet:7 and hast set him over the works of thy hands.
All sheep and oxen, even the beasts of the field,8 Thou hast subjected all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen: moreover the beasts also of the fields.
The birds of the air, the fish of the sea, and whatever swims the paths of the seas.9 The birds of the air, and the fishes of the sea, that pass through the paths of the sea.
O LORD, our Lord, how awesome is your name through all the earth!10 O Lord our Lord, how admirable is thy name in all the earth!
