1 Of David, when he feigned madness before Abimelech, who forced him to depart.	1 'Di Davide, quando si finse pazzo in presenza di Abimelech e, da lui scacciato, se ne andò.'
2 I will bless the LORD at all times; praise shall be always in my mouth.	2 Alef. Benedirò il Signore in ogni tempo, sulla mia bocca sempre la sua lode.
3 My soul will glory in the LORD that the poor may hear and be glad.	3 Bet. Io mi glorio nel Signore, ascoltino gli umili e si rallegrino.
4 Magnify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.	4 Ghimel. Celebrate con me il Signore, esaltiamo insieme il suo nome.
5 I sought the LORD, who answered me, delivered me from all my fears.	5 Dalet. Ho cercato il Signore e mi ha risposto e da ogni timore mi ha liberato.
6 Look to God that you may be radiant with joy and your faces may not blush for shame.	6 He. Guardate a lui e sarete raggianti, non saranno confusi i vostri volti.
7 In my misfortune I called, the LORD heard and saved me from all distress.	7 Zain. Questo povero grida e il Signore lo ascolta, lo libera da tutte le sue angosce.

10 Fear the LORD, you holy ones; nothing is lacking to those who fear him.	10 Iod. Temete il Signore, suoi santi, nulla manca a coloro che lo temono.
11 The powerful grow poor and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing.	11 Caf. I ricchi impoveriscono e hanno fame, ma chi cerca il Signore non manca di nulla.
12 Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD.	12 Lamed. Venite, figli, ascoltatemi; v'insegnerò il timore del Signore.
13 Who among you loves life, takes delight in prosperous days?	13 Mem. C'è qualcuno che desidera la vita e brama lunghi giorni per gustare il bene?
14 Keep your tongue from evil, your lips from speaking lies.	14 Nun. Preserva la lingua dal male, le labbra da parole bugiarde.
15 Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.	15 Samech. Sta' lontano dal male e fa' il bene, cerca la pace e perseguila.
16 The LORD has eyes for the just and ears for their cry.	16 Ain. Gli occhi del Signore sui giusti, i suoi orecchi al loro grido di aiuto.
17 The LORD'S face is against evildoers to wipe out their memory from the earth.	17 Pe. Il volto del Signore contro i malfattori, per cancellarne dalla terra il ricordo.
18 When the just cry out, the LORD hears and rescues them from all distress.	18 Sade. Gridano e il Signore li ascolta, li salva da tutte le loro angosce.
19 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, saves those whose spirit is crushed.	19 Kof. Il Signore è vicino a chi ha il cuore ferito, egli salva gli spiriti affranti.
20 Many are the troubles of the just, but the LORD delivers from them all.	20 Res. Molte sono le sventure del giusto, ma lo libera da tutte il Signore.
21 God watches over all their bones; not a one shall be broken.	21 Sin. Preserva tutte le sue ossa, neppure uno sarà spezzato.
22 Evil will slay the wicked; those who hate the just are condemned.	22 Tau. La malizia uccide l'empio e chi odia il giusto sarà punito.
23 The LORD redeems loyal servants; no one is condemned whose refuge is God.	23 Il Signore riscatta la vita dei suoi servi, chi in lui si rifugia non sarà condannato.
