2 Deliver me, LORD, from the wicked; preserve me from the violent,	2 Salvami, Signore, dal malvagio, proteggimi dall'uomo violento,
3 From those who plan evil in their hearts, who stir up conflicts every day,	3 da quelli che tramano sventure nel cuore e ogni giorno scatenano guerre.
4 Who sharpen their tongues like serpents, venom of asps upon their lips. Selah	4 Aguzzano la lingua come serpenti; veleno d'aspide è sotto le loro labbra.
5 Keep me, LORD, from the clutches of the wicked; preserve me from the violent, who plot to trip me up.	5 Proteggimi, Signore, dalle mani degli empi, salvami dall'uomo violento: essi tramano per farmi cadere.
6 The arrogant have set a trap for me; villains have spread a net, laid snares for me by the wayside. Selah	6 I superbi mi tendono lacci e stendono funi come una rete, pongono agguati sul mio cammino.
7 I say to the LORD: You are my God; listen, LORD, to the words of my prayer.	7 Io dico al Signore: "Tu sei il mio Dio; ascolta, Signore, la voce della mia preghiera".
8 My revered LORD, my strong helper, my helmet on the day of battle.	8 Signore, mio Dio, forza della mia salvezza, proteggi il mio capo nel giorno della lotta.
9 LORD, do not grant the desires of the wicked; do not let their plots succeed. Selah	9 Signore, non soddisfare i desideri degli empi, non favorire le loro trame.
10 Around me they raise their proud heads; may the mischief they threaten overwhelm them.	10 Alzano la testa quelli che mi circondano, ma la malizia delle loro labbra li sommerge.
11 May God rain burning coals upon them, cast them into the grave never more to rise.	11 Fa' piovere su di loro carboni ardenti, gettali nel bàratro e più non si rialzino.
12 Slanderers will not survive on earth; evil will quickly entrap the violent.	12 Il maldicente non duri sulla terra, il male spinga il violento alla rovina.
13 For I know the LORD will secure justice for the needy, their rights for the poor.	13 So che il Signore difende la causa dei miseri, il diritto dei poveri.
14 Then the just will give thanks to your name; the upright will dwell in your presence.	14 Sì, i giusti loderanno il tuo nome, i retti abiteranno alla tua presenza.
