Psalms 116

1 I love the LORD, who listened to my voice in supplication,	1 Amo il Signore, perché ha dato ascolto alla voce della mia implorazione;
2 Who turned an ear to me on the day I called.	2 perché ha teso verso di me il suo orecchio, quando l'invocavo.
3 I was caught by the cords of death; the snares of Sheol had seized me; I felt agony and dread.	3 Mi stringevano funi di morte, i lacci degli inferi mi avvincevano, mi opprimevano tristezza e angoscia.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD, "O LORD, save my life!"	4 Ma ho invocato il nome del Signore: "Ti prego, Signore, salvami!".
5 Gracious is the LORD and just; yes, our God is merciful.	5 Pietoso è il Signore e giusto; facile alla compassione è il nostro Dio.
6 The LORD protects the simple; I was helpless, but God saved me.	6 Il Signore protegge gli umili: ero misero ed egli mi ha salvato.
7 Return, my soul, to your rest; the LORD has been good to you.	7 Ritorna, anima mia, al tuo riposo, poiché il Signore ti ha beneficato.
8 For my soul has been freed from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.	8 Sì, dalla morte hai liberato l'anima mia, il mio occhio dal pianto, il mio piede dalla caduta.
9 I shall walk before the LORD in the land of the living.	9 Camminerò al cospetto del Signore nella terra dei viventi.
10 I kept faith, even when I said, "I am greatly afflicted!"	10 Ho avuto fede, anche se dicevo: "Sono afflitto oltre misura",
11 I said in my alarm, "No one can be trusted!"	11 anche se ho detto nella trepidazione: "Tutti gli uomini sono bugiardi".
12 How can I repay the LORD for all the good done for me?	12 Come ricambierò al Signore tutti i benefici che m'ha fatto?
13 I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.	13 Eleverò il calice della salvezza e invocherò il nome del Signore.
14 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.	14 Adempirò al Signore i miei voti, dinanzi a tutto il suo popolo.
15 Too costly in the eyes of the LORD is the death of his faithful.	15 Preziosa è agli occhi del Signore la morte dei suoi fedeli.
16 LORD, I am your servant, your servant, the child of your maidservant; you have loosed my bonds.	16 Sì, o Signore, io sono tuo servo, tuo servo e figlio della tua ancella. Tu hai sciolto le mie catene.
17 I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.	17 A te offrirò il sacrificio di lode e invocherò il nome del Signore.
18 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,	18 Adempirò al Signore i miei voti al cospetto di tutto il suo popolo,
19 In the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!	19 negli atri della casa del Signore, in mezzo a te, Gerusalemme. Alleluia.
