Psalms 116

1 I love the LORD, who listened to my voice in supplication,	1 Ich liebe den Herrn; denn er hat mein lautes Flehen gehört
2 Who turned an ear to me on the day I called.	2 und sein Ohr mir zugeneigt an dem Tag, als ich zu ihm rief.
3 I was caught by the cords of death; the snares of Sheol had seized me; I felt agony and dread.	3 Mich umfingen die Fesseln des Todes, mich befielen die Ängste der Unterwelt, mich trafen Bedrängnis und Kummer.
4 Then I called on the name of the LORD, "O LORD, save my life!"	4 Da rief ich den Namen des Herrn an: «Ach Herr, rette mein Leben!»
5 Gracious is the LORD and just; yes, our God is merciful.	5 Der Herr ist gnädig und gerecht, unser Gott ist barmherzig.
6 The LORD protects the simple; I was helpless, but God saved me.	6 Der Herr behütet die schlichten Herzen; ich war in Not und er brachte mir Hilfe.
7 Return, my soul, to your rest; the LORD has been good to you.	7 Komm wieder zur Ruhe, mein Herz! Denn der Herr hat dir Gutes getan.
8 For my soul has been freed from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling.	8 Ja, du hast mein Leben dem Tod entrissen, meine Tränen (getrocknet), meinen Fuß (bewahrt vor) dem Gleiten.
9 I shall walk before the LORD in the land of the living.	9 So gehe ich meinen Weg vor dem Herrn im Land der Lebenden.
10 I kept faith, even when I said, "I am greatly afflicted!"	10 Voll Vertrauen war ich, auch wenn ich sagte: Ich bin so tief gebeugt.
11 I said in my alarm, "No one can be trusted!"	11 In meiner Bestürzung sagte ich: Die Menschen lügen alle.
12 How can I repay the LORD for all the good done for me?	12 Wie kann ich dem Herrn all das vergelten, was er mir Gutes getan hat?
13 I will raise the cup of salvation and call on the name of the LORD.	13 Ich will den Kelch des Heils erheben und anrufen den Namen des Herrn.
14 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people.	14 Ich will dem Herrn meine Gelübde erfüllen offen vor seinem ganzen Volk.
15 Too costly in the eyes of the LORD is the death of his faithful.	15 Kostbar ist in den Augen des Herrn das Sterben seiner Frommen.
16 LORD, I am your servant, your servant, the child of your maidservant; you have loosed my bonds.	16 Ach Herr, ich bin doch dein Knecht, dein Knecht bin ich, der Sohn deiner Magd. Du hast meine Fesseln gelöst.
17 I will offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.	17 Ich will dir ein Opfer des Dankes bringen und anrufen den Namen des Herrn.
18 I will pay my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people,	18 Ich will dem Herrn meine Gelübde erfüllen offen vor seinem ganzen Volk,
19 In the courts of the house of the LORD, in your midst, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!	19 in den Vorhöfen am Haus des Herrn, in deiner Mitte, Jerusalem. Halleluja!
