Ephesians 4

1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,	1 - Io dunque vi esorto, io il carcerato nel Signore di condurvi in modo degno della chiamata che avete ricevuto,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;	2 con tutta umiltà e mansuetudine e con longanimità, tollerandovi a vicenda con amore,
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.	3 sforzandovi di conservare l'unità dello spirito nel vincolo della pace;
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;	4 un corpo solo, un solo spirito, come in unica speranza siete stati chiamati;
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,	5 uno è il Signore, una la fede, uno il battesimo;
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.	6 un Iddio e padre di tutti, colui che è sopra a tutti e per tutti in tutti.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.	7 A ciascuno poi di noi fu data la grazia secondo la misura del dono di Cristo.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.	8 Per questo dice: «Salito in alto s'impadronì di molti prigionieri, e diede doni agli uomini».
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?	9 E l'esser salito che vuol dire, se non che era disceso nelle parti inferiori della terra?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)	10 Quegli che è disceso è lo stesso che è salito al di sopra dei cieli tutti, per portare a compimento ogni cosa.
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;	11 Ed egli diede gli uni apostoli, gli altri profeti, gli altri evangelisti, gli altri pastori e maestri,
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:	12 per il perfezionamento dei santi, in vista dell'opera del ministero, che è l'edificazione del corpo di Cristo,
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:	13 fino a tanto che ci riuniamo tutti nell'unità della fede e nel riconoscimento del Figlio di Dio, giungendo alla maturità di uomo fatto, alla misura di età della pienezza di Cristo;
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;	14 affinchè non siamo più dei bambini, sballottati e portati via da ogni vento di dottrina per gl'inganni degli uomini e la malizia loro a render seducente l'errore;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:	15 ma seguendo il vero con amore progrediamo in tutto verso di lui che è il capo, Cristo,
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.	16 dal quale tutto il corpo ben composto e connesso per l'utile concatenazione delle articolazioni, efficacemente, nella misura di ciascuna delle sue parti, compie il suo sviluppo per l'edificazione di se stesso nell'amore.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,	17 Questo dunque dico io, e vi scongiuro nel Signore, di non vivere più come vivono i Gentili nella vanità della mente loro,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:	18 che ottenebrati nell'intelligenza, sono fatti estranei alla vita di Dio, per la ignoranza che è in loro per via dell'indurimento del loro cuore;
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.	19 essi, perduto ogni sentimento si son dati alla dissolutezza sì da operare ogni impurità nella loro cupidigia di possesso.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;	20 Ma voi non così avete imparato Cristo,
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:	21 se pur gli avete dato retta e siete stati in lui ammaestrati, confermemente alla verità che è in Gesù,
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;	22 a deporre, rispetto alla vostra vita di prima, il vecchio uomo corrompentesi per le passioni ingannatrici,
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;	23 e rinnovarvi nello spirito della vostra mente,
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.	24 e rivestire l'uomo nuovo quello creato secondo Dio nella giustizia e nella santità vera.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.	25 Perciò rigettando ogni menzogna, dite la verità ciascuno al prossimo suo perchè siamo membri gli uni degli altri;
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:	26 nell'ira non peccate e il sole non tramonti sul vostro sdegno,
27 Neither give place to the devil.	27 nè date luogo al diavolo.
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.	28 Chi rubava non rubi più, piuttosto s'affatichi lavorando colle proprie mani qualcosa di buono, affinchè abbia di che far parte a chi ha bisogno.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.	29 Ogni cattivo discorso non esca più dalla bocca vostra; se mai, qualche discorso buono che serva a edificazione, dato il bisogno, questo sì, affinchè dia grazia a chi l'ascolta.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.	30 E non contristate lo Spirito Santo di Dio, nel quale avete ricevuto l'impronta per il giorno del riscatto.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:	31 Ogni acrimonia e animosità e ira e clamore e maldicenza sia sbandita da voi insieme con ogni malizia.
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.	32 Siate benigni gli uni verso gli altri, misericordiosi, donandovi a vicenda così come Dio in Cristo donò a noi.
