1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,	1 Vi scongiuro adunque io prigioniero pel Signore, che camminiate in maniera convenevole alla vocazione, a cui siete stati chiamati,
2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;	2 Con tutta umiltà, e mansuetudine, con pazienza sopportandovi gli uni gli altri per carità,
3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.	3 Solleciti di conservare l'unità dello spirito mediante il vincolo della pace.
4 There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;	4 Un solo corpo, e un solo spirito, come siete ancora stati chiamati ad una sola speranza della vostra vocazione.
5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism,	5 Un solo Signore, una sola fede, un solo battesimo.
6 One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.	6 Un solo Dio, e padre di tutti, che è sopra di tutti, e per tutte le cose, e in tutti noi.
7 But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.	7 Ma a ciascheduno di noi è stata data la grazia secondo la misura del dono di Cristo.
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.	8 Per la qual cosa dice: asceso in alto ne menò schiava la schiavitù: distribuì doni agli uomini.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?	9 Ma che è l'essere asceso, se non che prima anche discese alle parti infime della terra?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)	10 Colui, che discese, è quell'istesso, che anche ascese sopra tutti i cieli per dar compimento a tutte le cose.
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;	11 Ed egli altri costituì Apostoli, altri profeti, altri evangelisti, altri pastori, e dottori,
12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:	12 Per il perfezionamento de' santi, pel lavorìo del ministero, per la edificazione del corpo di Cristo:
13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:	13 Fino a tanto che ci riuniamo tutti per l'unità della fede, e della cognizione del Figliuolo di Dio, in un uomo perfetto, alla misura della età piena di Cristo:
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;	14 Onde non più siamo fanciulli vacillanti, e portati qua, e là da ogni vento di dottrina pei raggiri degli uomini, per le astuzie, onde seduce l'errore.
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:	15 Ma seguendo la verità nella carità, andiam crescendo per ogni parte in lui, che è il capo (cioè) Cristo:
16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.	16 Da cui tutto il corpo compaginato, e commesso per via di tutte le giunture di comunicazione, in virtù della proporzionata operazione sopra di ciascun membro, l'argumento prende proprio del corpo per sua perfezione mediante la carità.
17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,	17 Questo adunque io dico, e vi scongiuro nel Signore, che non camminiate più, come camminano le nazioni nella vanità de' loro pensamenti,
18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:	18 Le quali hanno l'intelletto ottenebrato, sono aliene dal viver secondo Dio per la ignoranza, che è in loro a causa dell'accecamento del loro cuore,
19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness.	19 Le quali prive di speranza abbandonate si sono alla impurità per commettere a gara qualunque infamità.
20 But ye have not so learned Christ;	20 Ma voi non cosi avete apparato Cristo,
21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:	21 Se pure lo avete ascoltato, e in lui siete stati ammaestrati, come in Gesù, è verità:
22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;	22 Che voi riguardo alla vita passata vi spogliate del vecchio uomo, il quale per le ingannatrici passioni si corrompe.
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;	23 E vi rinnovelliate nello spirito della vostra mente,
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.	24 E vi rivestiate dell'uomo nuovo, creato secondo Dio nella giustizia, e nella vera santità.
25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.	25 Per la qual cosa rigettata la menzogna, parli ciascheduno al suo prossimo secondo la verità: conciossiachè siamo membri gli uni degli altri.
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:	26 Se vi adirate, guardatevi dal peccare: non tramonti il sole sopra dell'ira vostra.
27 Neither give place to the devil.	27 Non date luogo al diavolo:
28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.	28 Colui, che rubava, non rubi più: ma anzi lavori colle proprie mani a qualche cosa di onesto di modo, che abbia da dare a chi patisce necessità.
29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.	29 Non esca dalla vostra bocca alcun cattivo discorso: ma tale, che buono sia per l'edificazione della fede, onde dia grazia a quegli, che ascoltano.
30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.	30 E non contristate lo Spirito santo di Dio, mercé di cui siete stati marcati pel giorno della redenzione.
31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:	31 Qualunque amarezza, e scandescenza, e ira, e clamore, e maldicenza sia rimossa da voi con ogni sorta di malvagità.
32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.	32 Ma siate benigni gli uni verso degli altri, misericordiosi, facili a per donare scambievolmente, come anche Dio ha a voi perdonato per Cristo.
