Sirach 29

KING JAMES BIBLE	BIBLIA
1 He that is merciful will lend unto his neighbour; and he that strengtheneth his hand keepeth the commandments.	1 Quien hace misericordia, presta al prójimo, quien le apoya con su mano, guarda los mandamientos.
2 Lend to thy neighbour in time of his need, and pay thou thy neighbour again in due season.	2 Presta a tu prójimo cuando se halle en necesidad, y por tu parte restituye a tiempo al prójimo.
3 Keep thy word, and deal faithfully with him, and thou shalt always find the thing that is necessary for thee.	3 Mantén tu palabra y ten confianza en él, y en toda ocasión encontrarás lo que necesitas.
4 Many, when a thing was lent them, reckoned it to be found, and put them to trouble that helped them.	4 Muchos consideran el préstamo como una ganga, y a los que les han socorrido causan sinsabores.
5 Till he hath received, he will kiss a man's hand; and for his neighbour's money he will speak submissly: but when he should repay, he will prolong the time, and return words of grief, and complain of the time.	5 Hasta que no recibe, besa las manos de su prójimo, y ante su dinero humilla la voz; pero al tiempo de la restitución da largas, responde con palabras negligentes y echa la culpa a las circustancias.
6 If he prevail, he shall hardly receive the half, and he will count as if he had found it: if not, he hath deprived him of his money, and he hath gotten him an enemy without cause: he payeth him with cursings and railings; and for honour he will pay him disgrace.	6 Si puede, el otro recibirá apenas la mitad, y aun lo tendrá como una ganga. Si no, se quedará sin su dinero, y se habrá ganado sin necesidad un enemigo, que le devolverá maldiciones e injurias y le dará, en vez de gloria, vilipendio.
7 Many therefore have refused to lend for other men's ill dealing, fearing to be defrauded.	7 Muchos, sin malicia, vuelven las espaldas, pues temen ser despojados sin necesidad.
8 Yet have thou patience with a man in poor estate, and delay not to shew him mercy.	8 Pero con el humilde muéstrate paciente, y a tu limosna no des largas.
9 Help the poor for the commandment's sake, and turn him not away because of his poverty.	9 En atención al mandamiento, acoge al indigente, según su necesidad no le despidas vacío.
10 Lose thy money for thy brother and thy friend, and let it not rust under a stone to be lost.	10 Gasta dinero por el hermano y el amigo, que no se te enroñe bajo la piedra y lo pierdas.
11 Lay up thy treasure according to the commandments of the most High, and it shall bring thee more profit than gold.	11 Coloca tu tesoro según los mandamientos del Altísimo, y te dará provecho más que el oro.
12 Shut up alms in thy storehouses: and it shall deliver thee from all affliction.	12 Encierra la limosna en tus graneros, ella te preservará de todo mal.
13 It shall fight for thee against thine enemies better than a mighty shield and strong spear.	13 Mejor que recio escudo y que pesada lanza frente al enemigo combatirá por ti.
14 An honest man is surety for his neighbour: but he that is impudent will forsake him.	14 El hombre bueno sale fiador de su prójimo, el que ha perdido la vergüenza, lo deja abandonado.
15 Forget not the friendship of thy surety, for he hath given his life for thee.	15 No olvides los favores de tu fiador, pues él se ha expuesto por ti.
16 A sinner will overthrow the good estate of his surety:	16 El pecador dilapida los bienes de su fiador, el ingrato abandona en su corazón al que le ha salvado.
17 And he that is of an unthankful mind will leave him [in danger] that delivered him.	17 La fianza perdió a muchos que iban bien, los sacudió como ola del mar.
18 Suretiship hath undone many of good estate, and shaken them as a wave of the sea: mighty men hath it driven from their houses, so that they wandered among strange nations.	18 Echó de su patria a hombres poderosos, que anduvieron errando por naciones extrañas.
19 A wicked man transgressing the commandments of the Lord shall fall into suretiship: and he that undertaketh and followeth other men's business for gain shall fall into suits.	19 Pecador que se presta a la fianza buscando especular, incurre en juicio.
20 Help thy neighbour according to thy power, and beware that thou thyself fall not into the same.	20 Acoge al prójimo según tus recursos, y cuida de no caer tú mismo.
21 The chief thing for life is water, and bread, and clothing, and an house to cover shame.	21 Lo primero para vivir es agua, pan, vestido, y casa para abrigarse.
22 Better is the life of a poor man in a mean cottage, than delicate fare in another man's house.	22 Más vale vida de pobre bajo techo de tablas que comida suntuosa en casa de extraños.
23 Be it little or much, hold thee contented, that thou hear not the reproach of thy house.	23 En lo poco y en lo mucho ten buena cara, y no escucharás reproches de tu huésped.
24 For it is a miserable life to go from house to house: for where thou art a stranger, thou darest not open thy mouth.	24 Triste vida andar de casa en casa: donde te hospedes no podrás abrir la boca.
25 Thou shalt entertain, and feast, and have no thanks: moreover thou shalt hear bitter words:	25 Hospedarás y darás de beber a desagradecidos, y encima tendrás que oír cosas amargas:
26 Come, thou stranger, and furnish a table, and feed me of that thou hast ready.	26 «Pasa, huésped, adereza la mesa, si tienes algo a mano, dame de comer».
27 Give place, thou stranger, to an honourable man; my brother cometh to be lodged, and I have need of mine house.	27 - «Vete, huésped, cede el puesto a uno más digno, viene a hospedarse mi hermano, necesito la casa».
28 These things are grievous to a man of understanding; the upbraiding of houseroom, and reproaching of the lender.	28 Duro es para un hombre de sentimiento tal desprecio de la casa, tal insulto propio para un deudor.
