Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.	1 - Figliuolo mio, custodisci le mie parole e fa' tesoro de' miei precetti;
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.	2 osserva, o figliuolo, i miei comandamenti e vivrai, e sia la mia legge come la pupilla de' tuoi occhi.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.	3 Legali alle tue dita, scrivili sulle tavole del tuo cuore.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:	4 Di ' alla sapienza : « Tu sei la mia sorella” e la prudenza chi ama la tua amica;
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.	5 affinchè ti custodisca dalla donna altrui, dalla straniera che ha le parole leziose.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,	6 Una volta dalla finestra di casa miarimirai attraverso le gelosie.
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,	7 E vedo dei ragazzie osservo un giovane fuor di senno,
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,	8 che passa per la piazza, rasente l'angolo, e s'avanza sulla strada della casa d'una tale.
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:	9 Era, sull'imbrunire, in sul far della sera, nell'oscurarsi la notte e farsi buia.
10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.	10 Ed ecco che gli si fa incontro una donna in abbigliamento da meretrice e preparata a dar la caccia alle anime; ciarliera, vagabonda,
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:	11 irrequieta, che non può mai tenere i piedi in casa sua.
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)	12 Ora fuori, ora per le piazze, ora appostata a fianco delle cantonate.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,	13 Essa dunque, abbracciato il giovane, lo bacia e sfrontatamente lo accarezza dicendo:
14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.	14 «Delle vittime io doveva per un voto fatto ed oggi ho sciolto il mio voto;
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.	15 ond'è che ti uscii incontrobramosa di vederti e ti ho trovato.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.	16 Ho preparato coi fiocchi il mio letto l'ho addobbato di tappezzerie ricamate di Egitto;
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.	17 ho profumata la mia cameradi mirra, aloè e cinnamomo.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.	18 Vieni, inebriamoci di carezze, godiamo gli amplessi desiderati finchè non luccichi il giorno.
19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:	19 Giacchè il mio uomo non è in casa, ha intrapreso un lunghissimo viaggio;
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.	20 ha portato seco un sacchetto di denari e non tornerà a casa che al plenilunio».
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.	21 Con molte parole lo tira nella rete e colle lusinghe delle sue labbra lo trascina,
22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;	22 ed egli tosto le va dietro, quasi giovenco condotto al macello e come agnello che scherza e saltella e non sa l'inconscio, d'esser menato al capestro,
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.	23 finchè una lama gli trapassi il cuore; come uccello che tende veloce al laccio e non sa che si tratta della sua vita.
24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.	24 Ed ora, figliuolo, ascoltami, e fa' attenzione alle parole della mia bocca:
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.	25 Il tuo cuore non ti trascini per la strada di costei; non lasciarti attirare agl'ingannevoli suoi sentieri.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.	26 Perchè molti ne ha fatti cadere feriti e anche i più forti furono da essa fatti perire.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.	27 Le strade dell'Inferno sono quelle della sua casa che scendono nei penetrali della Morte.
