Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.	1 Figliuol mio, pon mente alle mie parole, e fatti, un tesoro de' miei precetti.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.	2 Figliuolo, osserva i miei documenti, ed avrai vita: custodisci la mia legge, come la pupilla del tuo occhio:
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.	3 Portala legata alle tue dita: scrivila sulle tavole del cuor tuo.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:	4 Di alla sapienza: Tu se' mia sorella, e alla prudenza da il nome di tua amica,
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.	5 Affinchè ella ti difenda dalla donna straniera, e dalla donna altrui, la quale addolcia le sue parole.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,	6 Imperocché io stava osservando dalla finestra della mia casa, dietro alla gelosia,
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,	7 E veggo dei pazzerelli, e considero un giovinetto insensato,
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,	8 Che passa per la piazza vicino all'angolo, e presso alla casa di colei spasseggia.
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:	9 A bruzzolo, venuta la sera tral buio, e le tenebre della notte.
10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.	10 Ed ecco che va incontro a lui la donna abbigliata da meretrice scaltra nel far preda di anime, cianciatrice, e girona,
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:	11 Che non sa star in riposo, né può tenere in casa i suoi piedi,
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)	12 E ora nella contrada, ora nelle piazze, ora in un cantone tende i suoi lacci.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,	13 Or ella gettate le braccia sul giovinetto, lo bacia, e con faccia sfrontata lo accarezza, e dice:
14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.	14 Io avea fatto voto di vittime (pacifiche), oggi ho adempiuto il mio voto,
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.	15 Per questo son uscita fuori a incontrarti, bramosa di vederti, e ti ho ritrovato.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.	16 Ho steso sulle corde il mio letto, vi ho messo sopra coperte ricamate d'Egitto:
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.	17 Ho sparso il mio letto di mirra, e di aloè, e di cinnamomo.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.	18 Vieni, inebriamoci di delizie, e soddisfacciamo a' nostri desiderj, fino che il giorno apparisca:
19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:	19 Imperocché l'uomo non è in casa sua, è andato a fare un viaggio lunghissimo.
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.	20 Ha portato seco un sacchetto di denaro; tornerà a casa il di del plenilunio.
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.	21 Colle molte parole ella lo tira nella rete, e colle lusinghe delle sue labbra gli da la spinta.
22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;	22 Egli tosto la segue, qual bue condotto al macello, e come agnello, che scherza, e non sa egli lo stolto, che è menato alla catena,
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.	23 Fino a tanto che la saetta trafigga il cuore di lui (egli è) come un uccello, che vola al laccio, e non sa che si tratta del pericolo di sua vita.
24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.	24 Ora adunque, figliuol mio, ascoltami, e pon mente alle parole della mia bocca.
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.	25 Non si lasci strascinare il cuor tuo nelle vie di costei, e non andar errando pe' suoi sentieri:
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.	26 Perocché molti ella ferì, e gittò per terra, e i più forti furon tutti uccisi da lei,
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.	27 La casa di lei è strada dell'inferno, strada, che mena fino ai penetrali di morte.
