Proverbs 7

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.	1 Mon fils, garde mes paroles, conserve chez toi mes préceptes.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.	2 Garde mes préceptes et tu vivras, que mon enseignement soit comme la pupille de tes yeux.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.	3 Fixe-les à tes doigts, inscris-les sur la tablette de ton coeur.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:	4 Dis à la sagesse: "Tu es ma soeur!" Donne le nom de parente à l'intelligence,
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words.	5 pour te garder de la femme étrangère, de l'inconnue aux paroles doucereuses.
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,	6 Comme j'étais à la fenêtre de ma demeure, j'ai regardé par le treillis
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,	7 et j'ai vu, parmi de jeunes niais, j'ai remarqué parmi des enfants un garçon privé de sens.
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house,	8 Passant par la venelle, près du coin où elle est, il gagne le chemin de sa maison,
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:	9 à la brune, au tomber du jour, au coeur de la nuit et de l'ombre.
10 And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.	10 Et voici qu'une femme vient à sa rencontre, vêtue comme une prostituée, la fausseté au coeur.
11 (She is loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:	11 Elle est hardie et insolente; ses pieds ne peuvent tenir à la maison.
12 Now is she without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)	12 Tantôt dans la rue, tantôt sur les places, à tous les coins elle se tient aux aguets.
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, and with an impudent face said unto him,	13 Elle le saisit et l'embrasse et d'un air effronté lui dit:
14 I have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.	14 "J'avais à offrir un sacrifice de communion, j'ai accompli mes voeux aujourd'hui,
15 Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.	15 voilà pourquoi je suis sortie à ta rencontre pour te chercher, et je t'ai trouvé.
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt.	16 J'ai recouvert mon divan de couvertures, de tissus brodés, d'étoffe d'Egypte,
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.	17 j'ai aspergé ma couche de myrrhe, d'aloès et de cinnamome.
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.	18 Viens! Enivrons-nous d'amour jusqu'au matin! Jouissons dans la volupté!
19 For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey:	19 Car il n'y a point de mari à la maison: il est parti pour un lointain voyage,
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.	20 il a emporté le sac aux écus, à la pleine lune il reviendra chez lui.
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him.	21 A force de persuasion elle le séduit, par le charme doucereux de ses lèvres elle l'entraîne.
22 He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;	22 Aussitôt il la suit, tel un boeuf qui va à l'abattoir, tel un fou marchant au supplice des entraves,
23 Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is for his life.	23 jusqu'à ce qu'un trait lui perce le foie, tel l'oiseau qui se précipite dans le filet sans savoir qu'il yva de sa vie.
24 Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.	24 A présent, fils, écoutez-moi, prêtez attention aux paroles de ma bouche:
25 Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.	25 que ton coeur ne dévie pas vers ses chemins, ne t'égare pas dans ses sentiers,
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men have been slain by her.	26 car nombreux sont ceux qu'elle a frappés à mort et les plus robustes furent tous ses victimes.
27 Her house is the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.	27 Sa demeure est le chemin du shéol, la pente vers le parvis des morts.
