Psalms 94

1 O LORD God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth, shew thyself.	1 Gott der Vergeltung, o Herr, du Gott der Vergeltung, erscheine!
2 Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.	2 Erhebe dich, Richter der Erde, vergilt den Stolzen ihr Tun!
3 LORD, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?	3 Wie lange noch dürfen die Frevler, o Herr, wie lange noch dürfen die Frevler frohlocken?
4 How long shall they utter and speak hard things? and all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?	4 Sie führen freche Reden, alle, die Unrecht tun, brüsten sich.
5 They break in pieces thy people, O LORD, and afflict thine heritage.	5 Herr, sie zertreten dein Volk, sie unterdrücken dein Erbteil.
6 They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.	6 Sie bringen die Witwen und Waisen um und morden die Fremden.
7 Yet they say, The LORD shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it.	7 Sie denken: Der Herr sieht es ja nicht, der Gott Jakobs merkt es nicht.
8 Understand, ye brutish among the people: and ye fools, when will ye be wise?	8 Begreift doch, ihr Toren im Volk! Ihr Unvernünftigen, wann werdet ihr klug?
9 He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? he that formed the eye, shall he not see?	9 Sollte der nicht hören, der das Ohr gepflanzt hat, sollte der nicht sehen, der das Auge geformt hat?
10 He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?	10 Sollte der nicht strafen, der die Völker erzieht, er, der die Menschen Erkenntnis lehrt?
11 The LORD knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.	11 Der Herr kennt die Gedanken der Menschen: Sie sind nichts als ein Hauch.
12 Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him out of thy law;	12 Wohl dem Mann, den du, Herr, erziehst, den du mit deiner Weisung belehrst.
13 That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.	13 Du bewahrst ihn vor bösen Tagen, bis man dem Frevler die Grube gräbt.
14 For the LORD will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.	14 Ja, der Herr wird sein Volk nicht verstoßen und niemals sein Erbe verlassen.
15 But judgment shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.	15 Nun spricht man wieder Recht nach Gerechtigkeit; ihr folgen alle Menschen mit redlichem Herzen.
16 Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?	16 Wer wird sich für mich gegen die Frevler erheben, wer steht für mich ein gegen den, der Unrecht tut?
17 Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.	17 Wäre nicht der Herr meine Hilfe, bald würde ich im Land des Schweigens wohnen.
18 When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up.	18 Wenn ich sage: «Mein Fuß gleitet aus», dann stützt mich, Herr, deine Huld.
19 In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.	19 Mehren sich die Sorgen des Herzens, so erquickt dein Trost meine Seele.
20 Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?	20 Kann sich mit dir der bestechliche Richter verbünden, der willkürlich straft, gegen das Gesetz?
21 They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.	21 Sie wollen das Leben des Gerechten vernichten und verurteilen schuldlose Menschen.
22 But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.	22 Doch meine Burg ist der Herr, mein Gott ist der Fels meiner Zuflucht.
23 And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their own wickedness; yea, the LORD our God shall cut them off.	23 Er wird ihnen ihr Unrecht vergelten und sie wegen ihrer Bosheit vernichten; vernichten wird sie der Herr, unser Gott.
