How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts! | 1 For the leader; "upon the gittith." A psalm of the Korahites. |
My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God. | 2 How lovely your dwelling, O LORD of hosts! |
Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God. | 3 My soul yearns and pines for the courts of the LORD. My heart and flesh cry out for the living God. |
Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah. | 4 As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God! |
Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them. | 5 Happy are those who dwell in your house! They never cease to praise you. Selah |
Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. | 6 Happy are those who find refuge in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrim roads. |
They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God. | 7 As they pass through the Baca valley, they find spring water to drink. Also from pools the Lord provides water for those who lose their way. |
O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah. | 8 They pass through outer and inner wall and see the God of gods on Zion. |
Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed. | 9 LORD of hosts, hear my prayer; listen, God of Jacob. Selah |
For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. | 10 O God, look kindly on our shield; look upon the face of your anointed. |
For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. | 11 Better one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere. Better the threshold of the house of my God than a home in the tents of the wicked. |
O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee. | 12 For a sun and shield is the LORD God, bestowing all grace and glory. The LORD withholds no good thing from those who walk without reproach. |
O LORD of hosts, happy are those who trust in you! |
