Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: | 1 For the leader. A song; a psalm. |
Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. | 2 Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth; sing of his glorious name; give him glorious praise. |
Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. | 3 Say to God: "How awesome your deeds! Before your great strength your enemies cringe. |
All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah. | 4 All on earth fall in worship before you; they sing of you, sing of your name!" Selah |
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. | 5 Come and see the works of God, awesome in the deeds done for us. |
He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him. | 6 He changed the sea to dry land; through the river they passed on foot. Therefore let us rejoice in him, |
He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah. | 7 who rules by might forever, Whose eyes are fixed upon the nations. Let no rebel rise to challenge! Selah |
O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: | 8 Bless our God, you peoples; loudly sound his praise, |
Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. | 9 Who has kept us alive and not allowed our feet to slip. |
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. | 10 You tested us, O God, tried us as silver tried by fire. |
Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. | 11 You led us into a snare; you bound us at the waist as captives. |
Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. | 12 You let captors set foot on our neck; we went through fire and water; then you led us out to freedom. |
I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows, | 13 I will bring holocausts to your house; to you I will fulfill my vows, |
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble. | 14 The vows my lips pronounced and my mouth spoke in distress. |
I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah. | 15 Holocausts of fatlings I will offer you and burnt offerings of rams; I will sacrifice oxen and goats. Selah |
Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. | 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God, while I recount what has been done for me. |
I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. | 17 I called to the Lord with my mouth; praise was upon my tongue. |
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: | 18 Had I cherished evil in my heart, the Lord would not have heard. |
But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. | 19 But God did hear and listened to my voice in prayer. |
Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me. | 20 Blessed be God, who did not refuse me the kindness I sought in prayer. |
