Job 12

1 And Job answered and said,	1 - Ma Giobbe rispose e disse:
2 No doubt but ye are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.	2 «Dunque, voi siete i soli uomini, e insiem con voi morirà la sapienza!
3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you: yea, who knoweth not such things as these?	3 Anch'io ho cuore [intelligente] come voi, nè sono inferiore a voialtri: chi ignora infatti ciò che voi sapete?
4 I am as one mocked of his neighbour, who calleth upon God, and he answereth him: the just upright man is laughed to scorn.	4 Chi è deriso, come me, dal proprio amico, invocherà Dio che l'esaudirà: poichè la semplicità del giusto sarà derisa.
5 He that is ready to slip with his feet is as a lamp despised in the thought of him that is at ease.	5 Spregiata lampada egli è secondo i principii dei ricchi, preparata per il tempo stabilito.
6 The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth abundantly.	6 Son ben fornite le tende dei predoni: i quali audacemente provocano Dio, mentre egli ha dato ogni bene in mano loro.
7 But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:	7 Eppure interroga le bestie e ti ammaestreranno, gli uccelli dei cieli e te lo mostreranno:
8 Or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee: and the fishes of the sea shall declare unto thee.	8 parlane alla terra, ed essa ti risponderà, a te lo spiegheranno i pesci del mare.
9 Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?	9 Chi non sa che tutte queste cosele ha fatte la mano del Signore?
10 In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind.	10 Egli nel cui potere è l'anima d'ogni vivente e lo spirito d'ogni uomo formato di carne.
11 Doth not the ear try words? and the mouth taste his meat?	11 Non discerne forse l'orecchio le parole, come il palato di chi mangia [discerne] il sapore?
12 With the ancient is wisdom; and in length of days understanding.	12 Negli anziani risiede la sapienza, e nella lunga vita la prudenza.
13 With him is wisdom and strength, he hath counsel and understanding.	13 In Lui è la sapienza e la fortezza, egli possiede il consiglio e l'intelligenza.
14 Behold, he breaketh down, and it cannot be built again: he shutteth up a man, and there can be no opening.	14 Se egli abbatte, nessuno può riedificare, se egli imprigiona un uomo, nessuno può liberare;
15 Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.	15 se egli trattiene le acque ogni cosa si inaridisce; se poi le invia sconvolgono la terra.
16 With him is strength and wisdom: the deceived and the deceiver are his.	16 In Lui è fortezza e sapienza, egli conosce chi seduce e chi vien sedotto.
17 He leadeth counsellers away spoiled, and maketh the judges fools.	17 Egli conduce i consiglieri a stolto fine, e i giudici a insensatezza;
18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.	18 la cintura dei re egli discioglie, e ricinge di fune i loro fianchi;
19 He leadeth princes away spoiled, and overthroweth the mighty.	19 egli rende spregevoli i sacerdoti, e i maggiorenti abbatte;
20 He removeth away the speech of the trusty, and taketh away the understanding of the aged.	20 àltera egli il labbro dei veraci, e il senno degli anziani ei toglie via;
21 He poureth contempt upon princes, and weakeneth the strength of the mighty.	21 sparge il disprezzo sui principi, rianimando quelli ch'erano oppressi.
22 He discovereth deep things out of darkness, and bringeth out to light the shadow of death.	22 Egli rivela cose recondite fuor dalle tenebre, e fa riuscire in luce l'ombra di morte.
23 He increaseth the nations, and destroyeth them: he enlargeth the nations, and straiteneth them again.	23 Egli accresce le nazioni e le distrugge, e quelle sterminate restituisce nel primiero stato.
24 He taketh away the heart of the chief of the people of the earth, and causeth them to wander in a wilderness where there is no way.	24 Cambia il senno ai principi del popolo della terra, e li inganna menandoli inutilmente fuor di strada:
25 They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man.	25 brancolano essi nelle tenebre e non in luce, ed egli raminghi li mena come ebbri.
