Livre des Proverbes 21

JERUSALEM	KING JAMES BIBLE
1 Comme l'eau courante, le coeur du roi est aux mains de Yahvé qui l'incline partout à son gré.	1 The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
2 Toutes les voies de l'homme sont droites à ses yeux, mais Yahvé pèse les coeurs.	2 Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
3 Pratiquer la justice et le droit vaut, pour Yahvé, mieux que le sacrifice.	3 To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
4 Regards altiers, coeur dilaté, flambeau des méchants, ce n'est que péché.	4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.
5 Les projets de l'homme diligent ne sont que profit; pour qui se presse, rien que la disette!	5 The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.
6 Amasser des trésors par une langue menteuse: vanité fugitive de qui cherche la mort.	6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.
7 La violence des méchants les emporte, car ils refusent de pratiquer le droit.	7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
8 Tortueuse est la voie de l'homme criminel, mais de l'innocent l'action est droite.	8 The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.
9 Mieux vaut habiter à l'angle d'un toit que faire maison commune avec une femme querelleuse.	9 It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
10 L'âme du méchant souhaite le mal, à ses yeux le prochain ne trouve pas grâce.	10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.
11 Quand on châtie le railleur, le niais s'assagit; quand on instruit le sage, il accueille le savoir.	11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
12 Le Juste considère la maison du méchant: il précipite les méchants dans le malheur.	12 The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but God overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.
13 Qui ferme l'oreille à l'appel du faible criera, lui aussi, sans qu'on lui réponde.	13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
14 Un don secret apaise la colère, un présent sous le manteau, la fureur violente.	14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
15 C'est une joie pour le juste de pratiquer le droit, mais c'est l'épouvante pour les malfaisants.	15 It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
16 Qui s'égare loin du chemin de la prudence dans l'assemblée des Ombres reposera.	16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
17 Restera indigent qui aime le plaisir, point ne s'enrichira qui aime vin et bonne chère.	17 He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
18 Le méchant est la rançon du juste; à la place des hommes droits: le traître.	18 The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
19 Mieux vaut habiter en un pays désert qu'avec une femme querelleuse et chagrine.	19 It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
20 Il y a un trésor précieux et de l'huile dans la demeure du sage, mais le sot les engloutit.	20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
21 Qui poursuit la justice et la miséricorde trouvera vie, justice et honneur.	21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.
22 Le sage escalade la ville des guerriers, il abat le rempart dans lequel elle se confiait.	22 A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.
23 A garder sa bouche et sa langue, on se garde soi-même de l'angoisse.	23 Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
24 Insolent, hautain, son nom est "railleur!" il agit dans l'excès de son insolence.	24 Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
25 Le désir du paresseux cause sa mort, car ses mains refusent le travail.	25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.
26 Tout le jour l'impie est en proie au désir, le juste donne sans jamais refuser.	26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
27 Le sacrifice des méchants est une abomination, surtout s'ils l'offrent avec malice.	27 The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
28 Le faux témoin périra, mais qui sait écouter parlera à jamais.	28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
29 Le méchant se donne un air assuré, l'homme droit affermit sa propre conduite.	29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.
30 Il n'y a ni sagesse, ni intelligence, ni conseil devant Yahvé.	30 There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
31 On équipe le cheval pour le jour du combat, mais c'est à Yahvé qu'appartient la victoire.	31 The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.
