DOUAI-RHEIMS | VULGATA |
---|---|
1 When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted. | 1 Canticum graduum. Beati omnes qui timent Dominum, qui ambulant in viis ejus. |
2 Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them. | 2 Labores manuum tuarum quia manducabis : beatus es, et bene tibi erit. |
3 The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful. | 3 Uxor tua sicut vitis abundans in lateribus domus tuæ ; filii tui sicut novellæ olivarum in circuitu mensæ tuæ. |
4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south. | 4 Ecce sic benedicetur homo qui timet Dominum. |
5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. | 5 Benedicat tibi Dominus ex Sion, et videas bona Jerusalem omnibus diebus vitæ tuæ. |
6 Going they went and wept, casting their seeds. | 6 Et videas filios filiorum tuorum : pacem super Israël. |
7 But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves. |
