When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted.1 A Canticle in steps. Blessed are all those who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways.
Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.2 For you will eat by the labors of your hands. Blessed are you, and it will be well with you.
The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.3 Your wife is like an abundant vine on the sides of your house. Your sons are like young olive trees surrounding your table.
Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.4 Behold, so will the man be blessed who fears the Lord.
They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.5 May the Lord bless you from Zion, and may you see the good things of Jerusalem, all the days of your life.
Going they went and wept, casting their seeds.6 And may you see the sons of your sons. Peace be upon Israel.
But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves.
